5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to Previous review

Pros: RMA process was painless. Shipping to and from Military APO address (Germany).. Replacement mother board works perfectly. The RMA took 5 days to ship to ASUS, 4 days to process/repair.. ASUS shipped a replacement board 4 days later. And Return shipping was sent fix FedEx and I was impressed with ASUS RMA process.

Thank You

Cons: None. Would have been nice to get a functional board the first time but the fact they took care of it means a lot more.

Other Thoughts: Core i7 4770K
32GB RAM
256GB SSD+1TB and 4TB of Network storage

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, reliable motherboard

Pros: Once I figured out the BIOS everything went together incredibly easily. I purchased this motherboard for use in my electrophysiology laboratory. I chose it because it seemed like it should be reliable. I dropped am i7-4770K in it and 16GB of G-Skill 1600 RAM. I've overclocked the system to 4.7GHz on Corsair H100i and even with CPU going full throttle with PassMark CPU test, the Chip never went over 72degC even after an hour. I've since throttled it back to 4.4GHz (no particular reason, but I don't to risk stability issues in the middle of an experiment). The system has been up and running for over 3 months now and I have yet to encounter any issues. I've got an Asus GTX780TI-DC2OC-3GD5 graphics card and two 24" Asus monitors for video.

Cons: The user manual could use a bit of work

Other Thoughts: In off time, I use the box for multimedia production. I have Adobe CS6 Production Premium and do a lot of Premiere Editing. I also have a substantial subset of my Pro audio tools loaded, and I have an EMu 2020 system as well as a Universal Audio UAD-2 quad card plugged in for audio support.

3 out of 5 eggsHDMI Failed after 1 month...other issues after 3 months. RMA'ed

Pros: Supported 32GB Ram.

Cons: HDMI Audio failed after 1 month.
HDMI Video failed shortly after. DVI/VGA still works.
Memory slot A2 failed after 2 months.
Started RMA with ASUS.
took 3 days to get a RMA number. However I'm not impressed with ASUS return shipping method (FedEx ground only).
I live in Germany and FedEx ground will take 30-45 days to arrive at my APO address (US Military address). Where as USPS Priority would only take 5-7 days.

Also watch out for the memory slots they only have the locking clips on one side.

Other Thoughts: Specs
i7 4770k (Stock)
32 GB Corsair CMZ32GX3M4X1600C10
OCZ 256GB SSD VERTEX4

1 out of 5 eggsGreat for one day

Pros: Great set of features, easy build.

Cons: MOBO failed to boot after first day - not sure if it had anything to do with the installation of the advanced ASUS MOBO utilities or if it was just a bad board.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible customer support/quality control.

Pros: Good motherboard, terrible quality control from ASUS.

Cons: Sent to me with bent pins and was unusable from day one. RMA was declined by newegg due to "user end damage". Problem is, the board was sent to me completely unusable.

Other Thoughts: Good board, bad service.

4 out of 5 eggsUpon further assesment

Pros: Easy overclocking, This thing is overclocking my pcu on air at 4.2 ghz. And It automatically overclocks ram. I'm running 1333 ram at 1600 no problems.

Cons: This 887 sound card is the worst. If you care about sound at all, don't get. It's capped at 90 decibels.

Other Thoughts: The ram slot only opens by popping open one side, so you really have to press that ram in there and have to boot up to know whether or not its in.

I originally gave this board a 3 out of 5 because i couldn't tell how much overclocked i was without cupid, the sound card and only handling up to 2800 ram while other mbs list as high as 3150, but this board can handle 2933 ddr3 according to the asus website so I'll bump up an egg

4 out of 5 eggsZ87-M Plus

Pros: -Long Lasting, quality components for 24/7 usage
-Z87 Chipset in a uATX Board(Key selling point for me)
-Handles a wide range of memory speeds
-1150 Socket for Intel Gen.4 Processors
-Stable performance for a Higher-end Workstation
-UEFI BIOS work well, layout makes sense. Lots of control.
-x16 PCI 3.0 Slot for add-on graphics @ full performance

Cons: -not very many USB ports
-Onboard sound is just okay
-Price is a bit high.

Other Thoughts: To users about bloatware:
When installing drivers and software, please make sure that you fully understand whether you really need the software or not. I never have bothered with using the AI Suite. I have been using Asus boards for a number of years and find that their reliability is unmatched.

3 out of 5 eggsDon't get

Pros: It's made with durable parts. Nothing has malfunctioned. Asus customer service is better for pc than laptop. Don't believe what people say about terrible cust. serv. handles up to 2800 ram. You can tell everyone you have an asus so they can say wow.

Cons: Sound card sucks for the price. Worst in price range. Sounds like echoes. Too expensive for what you get. Crazy stupid bloatware. AVG is constantly hoaring themselves to you to buy thier B.S. Beware.

Other Thoughts: Buy a good combo intel i5 haswell with a mother board for $320 on the newegg combo list. I paid $387 for unsatisfactory performance. You can also find MB'S that handle up to 3000 ram for cheaper

5 out of 5 eggsSeems to work fine

Pros: Easy setup, has been reliable for the 3 months or so since I purchased it.

Cons: None that I know of

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure what to say other than "It just works". For something as fundamentally important as a motherboard, that's a good thing.
