2 out of 5 eggsfailed after 12 hours run time

Pros: vt-d although I didn't get that far in my build.
enough sata ports, raid 5

Cons: simply quit after 12 hours run time. fast power on-off.
waiting on replacement 10 days so far and no word.
frustraiting.

Other Thoughts: used to build as a profession for a local college. used almost exclusively asus. This is my second failed asus in row. Trying to reach tech support and getting a response - timeless (as in NOT)!

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME

Pros: Great legacy support vPro, PS/2 Mouse, PS2 Keyboard, 2 Com, 1 LPT, etc.

6 SATA III ports (6Gbps)

Intel LAN

TCM built in AWESOME!

Cons: SATA placement intentionally under both video card slots.

Only crossfire support.

Overall I highly recommend this solid board.

Other Thoughts: First, people need to understand these Q series motherboard are for offices and designed for backward compatibility for old office equipment that is very expensive to replace and need to stay in place. The legacy chipset will allow old operating systems to run on this board without loading drivers as they're built-in in most cases.

My workstation gaming rig didn't support SLI so I tried to use this board until I got a replacement. Unfortunately this board doesn't support SLI, but it does support CFX (crossfire). Why no nvidia love?

also, both video cards blocked a pair of SATA ports. ASUS went to the trouble to put 3 pairs of SATA ports on the board, why under the video slots? There is seemingly plenty of room to move them to a better place, or do as others have suggested and turn the connectors pointing toward the front edge.

To the guy who has two boards burn up. They sound like operator errors. 2 bad boards are too rare and usually incompatibility with parts issues. but 2 boards that burn up are too likely installation error.

To the guy with no VT-d. This board does support VT-d, but your processor needs to support VT-d as well. Check your CPU and leave a bad review for Intel for not having VT-d support for all of their chip series like AMD does.

1 out of 5 eggsdefect by default

Pros: Nope - it's not for pros.

Cons: It doesn't support vt-d as stated. This board claims to do things it doesn't do and it's a shame this site is selling it. I'm glad I have amzn prime - at least you can return it if it's junk (unlike here).

Other Thoughts: I bought the q87 because the chipset is certified for vt-d. It's pathetic that a major brand can be beaten by newcomers like Asrock in such a short amount of time.

1 out of 5 eggs2 Dead In A Row

Pros: None

Cons: RMA'd first one from a capacitor popping on first boot and second one worked for a couple hours and died with smoke. Used completely different equipment(case processor, memory, power supply etc on both builds).

Other Thoughts: Have replaced both boards with Asus Gryphon Z87's and have been working perfectly so it was definitely the boards. Totally unacceptable for a business class "Stable" board and wasted much time waiting for the first RMA. Throwing this one away and not bothering with the second RMA since I cant get my money back and don't want to risk using another junk board in a business critical location.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

I am sorry that you had issues with this motherboard. With the second motherboard, could you elaborate further on this issue please? When you have the time, please contact me through email, and we can discuss this case further. 3418194. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the Job

Pros: It has worked flawlessly from the first POST and sees nearly continuous use in a medium duty folding build.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Newegg shipping was as prompt as always and the GiveBackBox is a good and necessary idea.
Congrats on winning another battle with the tech-legal garbage industry aka patent trolls!

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: PNP Transistor melted and popped when first powering on. Power supply tested good on another system.

Other Thoughts: RMA issued and I had to pay to return a defective item. I thought newegg was supposed to pay for that type of replacement??? Maybe they refund it after the fact. Cant seam to reach them over the phone today.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for a long term relationshipe

Pros: @xPS/2 These are getting harder to find. This works well if your PC is not in the same room and are running 10 m of cable.

Intel NIC - Vpro

Simple set up.

Great layout.

Cons: I had to adjust some timings on RAM.

Other Thoughts: This is a solid board when you are looking to settle down and do real work without hassle.

Not sexy, but feels like a board you would want to meet your parents.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice Very Compatible

Pros: This motherboard was purchased as a end user PC in a manufacturing environment. It's nice to have the backward compatibility this motherboard has. Also with ASUS promise to keep this board for a year I'm sure I will be purchasing more in addition to the 5 I purchased on this order.

Cons: I haven't found any cons at this time.

Other Thoughts: It's nice ASUS guarantees this board to be produced for a year but it would be even better if they could guarantee this boards production for 2 years as that seems to be the life span of current technology.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent buy

Pros: Stable since firmware patch (see Cons), full featured for anyone not interested in overclocking. I found the board layout to be convenient during installation.

Cons: Initially there were some instability issues, but firmware upgrades fixed this. I bought this board (along a i7-4770) immediately after they became available, so this was to be expected.

If you're using this board and the system reboots suddenly (without showing an error or system crash), try upgrading your firmware and drivers with the latest (assuming you've eliminated power and temperature as causes).
