1 out of 5 eggsBoots intermittently

Pros: none

Cons: Fails to boot most of the time using a Haswell I3 CPU. When it does boot, a reboot fails. And Yes, I am using a Haswell certified power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat board

Pros: We use this board for our companies custom builds. Works perfectly, even has a LPT1 header on the board that we need instead of having to use a separate card. We have about 15 deployed over the past 6 months, not a problem with any of them.

Cons: none

2 out of 5 eggsWorks okay, but...

Pros: Nice board with lots of features. Now I can take advantage of my case's front USB 3.0 ports.

Cons: Purchased 2 of these from another place. Both have the same issue paired with a Core i3-4150. Tried different power supplies and even used verified Crucial RAM.

The first time you turn on the power switch to the power supply, the motherboard will not POST the first time. After you power it off then it will power on and POST. Not an acceptable problem when you're building a computer to sell to a customer.

All BIOSes have this problem up the latest 0810. BUT, I found a work around ONLY with 0706 or lower. Versions 0805, 0806, & 0810 will not POST the first time no matter what BIOS setting is changed. Version 0810 even complained about a failed overclocking the 2nd boot even though all the settings are stock. Versions 0805 and higher say they support 4th gen Cores, but they're unstable. v0706- seems to be more compatible.

The "FIX"; I had to disable Hyper Threading in 0706 and lower to get the first POST to work. But now I have 2 computers with Hyper Threading disabled. It's either this, or return these for a refund and deal with a lot of wasted time for me and my customer.

Suffice it to say, I will not be purchasing any more of these boards.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: We bought 4 of these motherboards. 3 of them worked great, 1 did not! We also bought several other items made by ASUS.

Cons: Our IT person tried to install this motherboard and it would not work. We sent it back to NewEgg and found it had bent CPU pins and was not covered. When we received it back, our IT person looked at it and said there were bent pins but was not caused by him because of the randomness of the bent pins. We contacted ASUS, sent them pictures and the customer service person said he felt like it would be replaced because of the locations of the bent pins, that it did not look like it was something our IT person would have caused. If so, all of the pins would have been damaged in a centralize area. Sent the motherboard to AUSU and they said bent CPU pins are not covered.

Other Thoughts: We have had multiple conversations with ASUS customer service, end result it is not covered. We are very disappointed that we purchased so much equipment from them and they will not cover one motherboard that was not damaged by us.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

I am sorry that the motherboard has damaged CPU pins. If you are interested, you have an option to have the unit shipped in for a repair quote. Just let me know through email whether or not you would like to set up this type of RMA. Thank you. 3765938.

1 out of 5 eggsLow Price, Low Quality?

Pros: Price. I purchased this for a low power bench Pc to work on others computer parts.

Cons: It would not install an OS to 2 different SSD drives or a HDD. Some kind of error in the bios kept removing the drive from the boot options thus crashing the install process.New EGG approved a RMA however i bent a CPU pin when repackaging the board and will not be purchasing another poorly made board to replace it with out of pocket. I should have gone with a higher quliaty over featured board to begin with i guess.

Other Thoughts: Live and learn. Unfortunately some mistakes have price tags. I have done hundreds of Windows OS installs in my life and almost none have ever had a problem. I attempted 75 installs on this board during the troubleshooting provided by forums and ASUS tech support trying different things. A waste of a week. Board was as good as DOA. Just mad i bent a pin repackaging it voiding my chance at a replacement board.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

I am sorry that the CPU socket has a bent pin. Regarding the hard drive, if the memory unit has an OS installed onto it, you must connect it to the Intel SATA drives or issues may arise. Should you need any assistance, please let me know through email. 3599530.

5 out of 5 eggsFired right up - no problems yet after 36 hour burn in period.

Pros: Easy installation - no problems with connections. Makes a great basic business machine.

Cons: No IDE but that was fine...just grabbed a spare SATA DVD drive.

Other Thoughts: Bought for a standard business computer. Used it with some spare drives and case left from old machine. Boots fast from SSD drive and runs Win 7P like a champ. Its running an i5 processor and 4GB RAM.

I would recommend it for any modest build.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS B85M - So far, so good.

Pros: First time builder, installation was a breeze, placement of various plug-ins on the board made connecting front panel and other accessories easy even in a cramped MicroATX Case, started up on the 1st try. Board quality seemed great. Went with this over the cheaper ASRock brand due to numerous ASRock reviews complaining of DOA boards and poor customer service. No complaints so far about ASUS. I'll buy this board again for my next build.

Installed on this board:

-i5 4570 CPU
-GTX 760 GPU
-8GB RAM

Cons: None so far.
