Based on the latest Intel B85 chipset, the ASUS B85M-E/CSM brings the power of an Intel 4th generation Core processor in a uATX form factor. It guarantees uncompromised flexibility and expandability with one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, one PCIe 2.0 x16 slot, four SATA 6Gbp/s ports, four USB 3.0 ports and 8-channel audio. ASUS's exclusive USB 3.0 Boost enables faster data transmission, while Fan Xpert 2 technology delivers the most customizable fan controls to achieve the best balance of cooling performance and noise level. Additional features include Network iControl, for real-time bandwidth control, and ASUS GPU Boost, for iGPU overclock. The B85M-E/CSM presents a new premium gold color scheme, symbolizing an insistence on delivering the highest standards of innovation, performance, and reliability.

The B85M-E/CSM is part of ASUS's renowned Corporate Stable Model (CSM) Series. ASUS CSM products are guaranteed to have a longer lifespan, and are available for purchase for at least one year from the date the product has been declared CSM. ASUS CSM products feature Advance Swap service options, allowing overnight cross-shipment of your defective unit in order to minimize downtime. Motherboard and graphics card products feature a one-way cross-shipment option during the first year of ownership.

ASUS Exclusive USB 3.0 Boost --1.3X Faster than Traditional USB 3.0
With USB 3.0 Boost technology, USB transfer speeds are significantly increased up to 1.3x, enhancing an already impressive USB 3.0 transfer rate. ASUS software automatically accelerates data speeds for compatible USB 3.0 peripherals without the need for any further user configuration.

Network iControl--Real-time Network Bandwidth Control
With a single-click on/off button, the application currently in use has its data and network bandwidth prioritized over other programs. In addition, you can prioritize your favorite software easily by configuring profiles through the intuitive user interface. Within the profile, programs can be pre-scheduled to run in a specific time period to avoid network congestion and long-waits on downloads. Auto PPPoE network connection provides a one-step setup for enhanced online convenience. Overall, it's an intuitive network bandwidth control center.

Superior Components, Excellent Quality and Durability

100% High-Quality Solid Capacitors

ASUS's high-quality solid capacitors assure a 5,000-hour lifespan (5K Hrs. @ 105°C; 50K Hrs. @ 65°C) – equivalent to 2.5 times longer than traditional capacitors. All capacitors pass testing under temperatures as high as 105 degrees, and meet Japanese industrial standards to provide excellent durability and enhanced thermal capacity.

Extra-Durable Stainless Steel Back I/O
The ASUS Motherboard's back I/O panels are made from strong and corrosion-resistant stainless steel, which is bonded with a thin layer of chromium oxide to enhance its anti-corrosion properties. That is why ASUS stainless steel back I/O panels have a usage life three times longer compared to ordinary panels.

Windows 8 Ready — One-Stop Access to Innovative ASUS Features
With hardware driver compatibility tested and assured, ASUS provides a complete solution for Windows 8 support. 5 out of 5 eggsgreat micro ATX board

Pros: Plenty of room to upgrade graphics, ram and high end CPU's. Very capable little board.

Cons: wide GPU's will cramp the neighboring PCIE x1 slot unless you buy an extention cable and do a bit of case modding.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: I've always liked ASUS boards, and have had great experience with them in the past. This board has all the right features, for a decent price.

Cons: Unfortunately, this board was DOA. It won't post, won't boot, and no amount of troubleshooting could get it to do either. I eventually had to RMA it, luckily, Newegg has great customer service.

Other Thoughts: This didn't turn me off to ASUS boards all together, but I am going to try a different board in this particular build. I'm sure I'll end up with another ASUS motherboard in the future though.

3 out of 5 eggsGood board some issues

Pros: -Small size
-Nice BIOS
-Good price

Cons: -sometimes does not boot

Other Thoughts: Sometimes the unit does not boot. I have to restart so it boots. When it doesn't boot it just stays on the ASUS boot up screen. I changed bios settings and it will do this.

Also when I shut down the computer with the new bios update the case fans spin for about 10 seconds after the computer shuts down. Now my multi card reader power light stays on after computer is off. This started happening once I updated to the 12/8/14 bios.

Beside that it has been okay.

Build:
-4770k
-EVGA GTX 770 w/ACX cooling

3 out of 5 eggsPotential QA problems

Pros: Built in USB 3.0 pins for front panel, solid standard features and ASUS quality and BIOS support.

Cons: First board came DOA (would not POST: memory module not recognized); had to RMA the board. Given other's comments be prepared for what looks like a 10-15% DOA rate, substantially below other ASUS consumer boards.

Other Thoughts: HDMI/DisplayPort/DVI output on rear panel for on-chip integrated graphics solutions reducing overall build cost (admittedly standard).

1 out of 5 eggsBoots intermittently

Pros: none

Cons: Fails to boot most of the time using a Haswell I3 CPU. When it does boot, a reboot fails. And Yes, I am using a Haswell certified power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat board

Pros: We use this board for our companies custom builds. Works perfectly, even has a LPT1 header on the board that we need instead of having to use a separate card. We have about 15 deployed over the past 6 months, not a problem with any of them.

Cons: none

2 out of 5 eggsWorks okay, but...

Pros: Nice board with lots of features. Now I can take advantage of my case's front USB 3.0 ports.

Cons: Purchased 2 of these from another place. Both have the same issue paired with a Core i3-4150. Tried different power supplies and even used verified Crucial RAM.

The first time you turn on the power switch to the power supply, the motherboard will not POST the first time. After you power it off then it will power on and POST. Not an acceptable problem when you're building a computer to sell to a customer.

All BIOSes have this problem up the latest 0810. BUT, I found a work around ONLY with 0706 or lower. Versions 0805, 0806, & 0810 will not POST the first time no matter what BIOS setting is changed. Version 0810 even complained about a failed overclocking the 2nd boot even though all the settings are stock. Versions 0805 and higher say they support 4th gen Cores, but they're unstable. v0706- seems to be more compatible.

The "FIX"; I had to disable Hyper Threading in 0706 and lower to get the first POST to work. But now I have 2 computers with Hyper Threading disabled. It's either this, or return these for a refund and deal with a lot of wasted time for me and my customer.

Suffice it to say, I will not be purchasing any more of these boards.
