1 out of 5 eggsLow Price, Low Quality?

Pros: Price. I purchased this for a low power bench Pc to work on others computer parts.

Cons: It would not install an OS to 2 different SSD drives or a HDD. Some kind of error in the bios kept removing the drive from the boot options thus crashing the install process.New EGG approved a RMA however i bent a CPU pin when repackaging the board and will not be purchasing another poorly made board to replace it with out of pocket. I should have gone with a higher quliaty over featured board to begin with i guess.

Other Thoughts: Live and learn. Unfortunately some mistakes have price tags. I have done hundreds of Windows OS installs in my life and almost none have ever had a problem. I attempted 75 installs on this board during the troubleshooting provided by forums and ASUS tech support trying different things. A waste of a week. Board was as good as DOA. Just mad i bent a pin repackaging it voiding my chance at a replacement board.

Manufacturer Response:

I am sorry that the CPU socket has a bent pin. Regarding the hard drive, if the memory unit has an OS installed onto it, you must connect it to the Intel SATA drives or issues may arise. Should you need any assistance, please let me know through email. 3599530.

5 out of 5 eggsFired right up - no problems yet after 36 hour burn in period.

Pros: Easy installation - no problems with connections. Makes a great basic business machine.

Cons: No IDE but that was fine...just grabbed a spare SATA DVD drive.

Other Thoughts: Bought for a standard business computer. Used it with some spare drives and case left from old machine. Boots fast from SSD drive and runs Win 7P like a champ. Its running an i5 processor and 4GB RAM.

I would recommend it for any modest build.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS B85M - So far, so good.

Pros: First time builder, installation was a breeze, placement of various plug-ins on the board made connecting front panel and other accessories easy even in a cramped MicroATX Case, started up on the 1st try. Board quality seemed great. Went with this over the cheaper ASRock brand due to numerous ASRock reviews complaining of DOA boards and poor customer service. No complaints so far about ASUS. I'll buy this board again for my next build.

Installed on this board:

-i5 4570 CPU
-GTX 760 GPU

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsVERY Impressed! Nice one, ASUS!

Pros: Lightweight, fast, incredible BIOS(coming from a former Windows 95 OEM user IN Dec. 2013, was running XP on that dinosaur... it only had 3 options: boot normal, ms-dos, and "memory mix mode", that was it)

6 SATA ports for all the HDDs that I've gotten(I couldn't use them before b/c of the age of my old cpu)

legacy PCI(have a nice sound board that I still want to use)

LGA 1150 socket for NICE new processor options

HDMI video output!(Now I can use my 'new' Samsung Monitor)

Nice 3.0 PCI-ex16 for a potential new GPU

3 different Fan pin-outs!

4x 1600mHz DDR3 DIMM slots(for a current MAX of 32GB!)

2x [physical]USB 3.0!

Cons: Cons? What cons?

Other Thoughts: Plugged everything in, was very satisfied, but I have a 350 watt enermax psu currently, and it 'barely' runs this "piece of awesome" mobo.
Would the following psu work with this motherboard, or would I need to go with the second linked one(650-watt):

(450-watt Enermax)

(650-watt Corsair)

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice features, including lots of video outputs and latest intel CPU support

Cons: DOA, and neweggs motherboard replacement policy prevents me from getting a new one sent my way until they receive the old, so i'm delayed probably a couple weeks. Couldn't even power on with this.

Other Thoughts: Building a system from components despite pressure to just buy a prefab from a local bigbox store for my church. This doesn't help.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you believe your board is DOA out of the box. What you may have experience is a hardware compatibliey issue. Older PSU don't have function to go to a very low voltage. These Haswell boards, in order to get them to power on, the power voltage required is very low, therefore the PSU don't see this signal and never power on.

Here is a link below of our QVL sheet of hardware that is compatible with this board.

5 out of 5 eggsSatisfied.

Pros: -Feels solid
-4 ports for monitors (DVI, HDMI, Display port, and VGA)
-Excellent BIOS! The newest firmware even provides OC functions! (Yes, like a Z87)

Cons: Although you can use it to overclock a K series cpu, it is obviously not designed for this. Everything is solid - but that's all.

Other Thoughts: I had trouble in installing Windows. I tried to use a flash drive for installation but the PC just refused to boot from USB. At last I had to manually set the USB device as a 'hard drive' (there are options in BIOS. It's 'auto' by default) to make it boot from there.

4 out of 5 eggsGood so far

Pros: It works :> lol. So far all things are good. I'm surprised no one else has reviewed this thing yet.

Seems to be a nice board. Build quality is good. Really not alot to say other than it works nicely. Solid state caps. I haven't tried all sockets/slots yet.

I'm finding the Intel HD graphics, 'built in video' essentally, is extremely strong compared to how I thought it would be. It handles Maya quite nicely. I have no intentions of gaming on this system but it should work fairly well. I'm using it as a render node for CGI.

That being said, it handles Maya well but, if you're wanting to do serious gaming I would not rely on the built in video. Buy a gaming card.

Cons: I was surprised to see that the static bag it came in didn't have a seal. I actually shot video of myself opening the box everything came in. I'm aware of a rash of boards with bent pins. So I shot video of myself opening the board and looking at the pins, which would prove it was not my fault if they were bent.

pins on the CPU socket are fine.

The spacing with the RAM slots and the CPU socket is pretty tight, an aftermarket heat sync could get complicated.

What is stated nowhere is that Asus Probe DOES NOT WORK WITH THIS BOARD currently. However, AI SUITE III does give a nice temperature readout, and is included on the drivers disc. do have to install the USB 3 drivers before using the ports, it mentions this in the documentation.

I feel the board is kinda pricey for the feature set but it is Asus and they are known to be a little more expensive, however if you want quality, you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: Had Intel not decided to play games with the TSX extentions I would've gone for a corei7 and made more of an investment in the new system I built. And a more expensive board with more features on it.

I was rather surprised that the anti static bag was not sealed, at all. No seal, no label on it, nothing. It wasn't even taped shut.
