The Asus A55M-E delivers the quality, features, and affordability for you to build a powerful yet budget-friendly AMD APU-based system. This motherboard is powered by an AMD A55 FCH (Hudson D2), and accommodates cutting-edge AMD FM2 APUs that integrate the powerful Radeon HD Series Graphics. This means you'll enjoy discrete-class graphics acceleration in your games and daily applications, without the cost or power consumption of an actual discrete video card.

This motherboard is built with an array of Asus features that make it stand out immediately. The Digi+ VRM delivers precise power to the APU. Advanced protection safeguards against surges and electrostatic discharge (ESD) for lasting reliability and durability. The new UEFI BIOS makes the system setting and tuning friendlier, easier, and more intuitive. You’ll also appreciate the network iControl that offers real-time bandwidth management for a smooth, lag-free online experience.

  • newegg DIGI+ POWER CONTROL Asus motherboards using the AMD® A55 chipset employ precise digital voltage regulation for the APU, called DIGI+ VRM (Voltage Regulation Modules) digital power design. The APU voltage is adjusted via either carefully developed automated modes, or by using user-defined profiles. The effect is that DIGI+ VRM technology ensures greater energy efficiency and the most precise power delivery. Boosted by world-renowned Asus quality, it creates an ideal computing platform for a diverse range of applications, from gaming to multimedia, or from office work to heavy multitasking. Engineered and tested to assure unmitigated performance, Asus A55 boards with DIGI+ VRM remain efficient and accurate for reliable application in every scenario.
  • newegg ASUS Anti-Surge Protection Anti-Surge Protection Design detects overvoltage conditions and prevents voltage surges from spreading in real time. It also actively cuts off the overvoltage supply to protect the system.
  • newegg ESD Protect your computer with ESD guards. Electrostatic discharge (ESD) conditions can happen while plugging or unplugging any USB peripherals – causing damage to the computer. Asus ESD guards clamp the ESD voltage and shunt the majority of the ESD current away for a more reliable computing environment.
  • newegg Network iControl With a single-click on/off button, the application currently in use has its data and network bandwidth prioritized over other programs. Moreover, you can prioritize your favorite software easily by configuring profiles through the intuitive user interface. Within the profile, programs can be pre-scheduled to run in a specific time period to avoid network congestion and long waits on downloads. Auto PPPoE network connection provides a one-step setup for enhanced online convenience. Overall, it's an intuitive network bandwidth control center.
  • newegg UEFI BIOS Asus UEFI BIOS offers the first mouse-controlled graphical BIOS designed with selectable modes, providing a user-friendly interface that goes beyond traditional keyboard-only controls. It also natively supports fully-utilized hard drives larger than 2.2TB in 64-bit operating systems.

4 out of 5 eggsBest micro mobo I've used

Pros: Built a friend's gaming PC with this; Amazingly efficient for being so compact. CPU, RAM, and GPU all fit in without issue. CPU heatsync locked in easily.

Cons: SATA ports are directly underneath the GPU (see: right of pci-2 slot)

Can only fit 2 sata cables into the mobo if you have an even moderately sizeable GPU. Definite slap-on-forehead moment from ASUS.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to first review posted

Pros: almost as small as a ITX.
Still works like a champ

Cons: 32 bit Operating Systems

Other Thoughts: A series processors need a 64 bit OS to reap the true benefits of the of the integrated graphics of the processor.
32 bit OS doesn't give the memory support needed for the processor/ graphics, witch leaves you with poor memory performance. Although adding a graphics card will bring you memory back up to par.

Pros: Seems to work well for a basic board,

Cons: No board updates from ASUS on any of there FM2 sockets. No USB 3.0 , came with wrong date and time in bios,

Other Thoughts: when OCing memory, windows index rating falls. probably do to 1600mhz only being recognized as 1333mhz at 5.5 W7/rating and oc'ed to 1866 falls to 4.5 this is with a 32bit operating system and 2x2 gig of corsair vengeance LP memory.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprising little guy.

Pros: Let me start off by saying, wow. Now that thats out of the way, this little motherboard rocks. I only happened to pay 60 bucks for this thing and it's pretty stable, very open to new hardware, and the UEFI is really nice.

Cons: Does NOT handle overclocking very well. I have a A6-5600k in it and I cannot overclock at all without crashing, which is no big deal since I built it for general use and very light gaming.

Other Thoughts: Highly reccomend this one for a budget APU build. Very good choice.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS A55M-E

Pros: Good price. Great fit for a small case. I love the UEFI BIOS. I can add a discrete video card later if I want.

Cons: No USB 3.0. I wish it would of explained what each individual setting in the BIOS specifically did, but there is always online search engines.

Other Thoughts: I placed this in an old HP SR1807CL case. I used the A6-5600K Trinity APU and 4 GB of G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBXL RAM. Everything worked with no issue. I wanted a "camouflaged" work PC.

5 out of 5 eggsQuestion Response

Pros: We purchased several of these for PC builds. They work great.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My question is in response to the previous review. Are you trying to say this board is not compatible with current manufactured FM2 chips? Because that is not the case. These work great with any of the FM2 chips I purchased. Maybe you tried to use an AM2 chip in it which won't work. Don't rate a product negatively due to your lack of knowledge on a subject.

3 out of 5 eggsFirst timer mistake

Pros: Seemed like a solid board.

Cons: This is an older board and most of the newer amd processors are not compatible, don't make the mistake I did. Get an AM3+ board.

Other Thoughts: I'm waiting for a refund so that I can buy the right one, its taking awhile...
