Dual Intelligent Processor IVs with Four-Way Optimization

One click for better performance, efficiency, digital power control, reduced noise, and improved cooling.
Starting with the Turbo Processing Unit (TPU), Four-Way Optimization performs Auto Tuning, which automatically overclocks the CPU to within about 95% of its potential, a process that typically could take up to two days to manually overclock. Auto Tuning is even able to overclock two cores at a time, and can configured to prioritize either multiplier (default) or BLCK if desired.

The process then moves to the Energy Processing Unit (EPU), which customizes power saving profiles for periods of light use or idle states. Within this module are options to set a TDP cap for low power scenarios, as well as selectively shut off SATA and USB ports when idling.

Next, DIGI+ VRM optimizes digital power settings to take full advantage of the CPU's built-in digital power delivery, creating a more precise and stable overclocking experience through OCP and LLC presets.

Finally, Fan Xpert 2 tests and calibrates each individual case fan connected to your motherboard to create selectable cooling profiles that can be further customized upon completion. The ability to assign customized fan curves and/or all-or-nothing temperature thresholds to profiles is also included. ®

4 out of 5 eggsFinally Stable

Pros: Easily overclocks. Great features. Beautiful design. Just be sure to update your BIOS to increase system stability.

Cons: Took some time to finally get stable. Should have updated BIOS from the get go since this went a long way into getting the system not to BSOD. Had 1 hard drive fail. System would BSOD at random times (sometimes days, sometimes within hours of each other). After swapping out several components (RAM, PSU, SSD's, Hard Drives, Computer Case) and reinstalling the OS, I was finally able to troubleshoot it down to the RAM voltage. The RAM I purchased operated at 1.65V which exceeds the Intel Haswell CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V). Though I had to sacrfice some RAM speed of 2133 MHz down to 1600 MHz at least it's Finally running stable.

2 out of 5 eggsOut of Box RAID Support Problem

Pros: Great out of the box board except for one potentially major issue...

Cons: Getting RAID setup took me hours. Yes, it literally took me hours. The BIOS doesn't contain RAID drivers. The DVD that came with the board didn't load the drivers like Asus said they would, so after spending some quality time at Asus' support site and reading the owner's manual 10 times I had to get a floppy drive to load the drivers. (YES, THE MANUAL ACTUALLY SAYS THAT YOU NEED A FLOPPY DRIVE STRAIGHT OUT OF 1990 TO CREATE A RAID DRIVER DISK.) So I ordered a floppy drive, and even then it didn't work like the manual stated. I don't understand how I bought an $80 budget motherboard almost eight years ago that had better out of the box RAID support than this $300+ board.

Other Thoughts: Eventually I found the drivers on Intel's site (no help from Asus), put them on a floppy, and got it to work.

4 out of 5 eggsGamer approved

Pros: 3x USB 2.0, 6x USB 3.0 ports in the rear i/o panel
desigined for gaming
ROG Armor is great for supporting heavy grafics cards
lots of additional features

Cons: plugs for the case fans are in horriable places
mPCIe Combo II card for wireless is hard to install and attach the antenna
the extra audio features are useless if you use usb headset/Microphone.

Other Thoughts: Love the board, but have had to contact asus support multiple times with minor issues but they were very helpfull.
The massive amount of features is a double edged soward as i have had the board for 11months now and im still learning how all the features work.

1 out of 5 eggsReceived with bent pins

Pros: Looks nice especially with the thermal armor. The troubleshooting features appear to work as they helped me figure out what my problem was.

Cons: Unclear. I was unable to make it to the BIOS menu or see most of the other features in action and only able to see the power turn on and the troubleshooting errors.

Other Thoughts: Got this moba and was excited to build out my new computer. Only when I first turned it on I was getting an error code saying that it was not reading my processor [Intel Core i7-4771 Haswell Quad-Core 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1150 84W Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4600 BX80646I74771]. When I looked to see what was going on I noticed that there were some bent pins that were supposed to connect to the processor.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry to hear that you had issues with the motherboard. Our QA department should have tested the board prior to it's boxing and shipping. Although of course we can not control the environment that our products are in once they are distributed. If you have not contacted NewEgg for an RMA exchange already, please let me know. At your earliest convenience, please contact me through email, including your reference number within the subject line, and we can discuss this case further. Thank you. Cs#N141091458

2 out of 5 eggsProduct is good,customer service isn't

Pros: Great Motherboard with tons of features
Looks really cool

Cons: see other thoughts

Other Thoughts: Basically I made a mistake and put a usb 3 cable from my front panel in the wrong way and broke of the pins. Now I admit that's my fault. So I call asus up thinking it should be a big cost on my part to repair it..they want 130$ plus pay for shipping to fix it. It's just one pin on the motherboard and they want almost half the price of what it's worth??? I'm sure some asus rep will add a comment on here and give an automated answer on how physical damage is not covered etc..and I realise that but give me a break..I bought this less than 5 months ago, you would think they would fix it at a lower cost than trying to rip you off.

Pros: LOOKS GREAT. Unfortunately, that's the only thing good about it.

Cons: I purchased two of these motherboards back to back. The first one was DOA. It would not post with RAM in the first two slots. Called ASUS and newegg. They advised me the mobo is bad. I purchased a second one. Purchased premium "nerd" technical support. Had a local computer store reinstall everything while on the phone with the tech. The motherboard would not post. After being fully frustrated and going through pages and pages of forums and their "solutions". The store pulled out the CPU and was taking apart the computer to return the board and saw a BENT/BROKEN PIN on the CPU. I googled it, and it seems as if it's a normal occurrence. I got my computer to work finally with a GIGABYTE Z97x GAMING G1 board, and haven't had any problems. Beware of these boards, as they are cheaply made.

Other Thoughts: I personally wanted this board as it looks great, and the build 'looked' good. Unfortunately I spent almost 700 dollars to no avail.

5 out of 5 eggsHappy with it

Pros: Most everything has been said already...
You'll get great value (performance / price) for a gaming board right out of the box.

Cons: Some of the software

Other Thoughts: The extra "backplate" caused a problem for me. I almost broke the board trying to screw it into the standoffs. I had two extra standoffs under the board which caused the board to not fit properly with the right standoffs.
