Dual Intelligent Processor IVs with Four-Way Optimization

One click for better performance, efficiency, digital power control, reduced noise, and improved cooling.
Starting with the Turbo Processing Unit (TPU), Four-Way Optimization performs Auto Tuning, which automatically overclocks the CPU to within about 95% of its potential, a process that typically could take up to two days to manually overclock. Auto Tuning is even able to overclock two cores at a time, and can configured to prioritize either multiplier (default) or BLCK if desired.

The process then moves to the Energy Processing Unit (EPU), which customizes power saving profiles for periods of light use or idle states. Within this module are options to set a TDP cap for low power scenarios, as well as selectively shut off SATA and USB ports when idling.

Next, DIGI+ VRM optimizes digital power settings to take full advantage of the CPU's built-in digital power delivery, creating a more precise and stable overclocking experience through OCP and LLC presets.

Finally, Fan Xpert 2 tests and calibrates each individual case fan connected to your motherboard to create selectable cooling profiles that can be further customized upon completion. The ability to assign customized fan curves and/or all-or-nothing temperature thresholds to profiles is also included. ®

2 out of 5 eggsProduct is good,customer service isn't

Pros: Great Motherboard with tons of features
Looks really cool

Cons: see other thoughts

Other Thoughts: Basically I made a mistake and put a usb 3 cable from my front panel in the wrong way and broke of the pins. Now I admit that's my fault. So I call asus up thinking it should be a big cost on my part to repair it..they want 130$ plus pay for shipping to fix it. It's just one pin on the motherboard and they want almost half the price of what it's worth??? I'm sure some asus rep will add a comment on here and give an automated answer on how physical damage is not covered etc..and I realise that but give me a break..I bought this less than 5 months ago, you would think they would fix it at a lower cost than trying to rip you off.

Pros: LOOKS GREAT. Unfortunately, that's the only thing good about it.

Cons: I purchased two of these motherboards back to back. The first one was DOA. It would not post with RAM in the first two slots. Called ASUS and newegg. They advised me the mobo is bad. I purchased a second one. Purchased premium "nerd" technical support. Had a local computer store reinstall everything while on the phone with the tech. The motherboard would not post. After being fully frustrated and going through pages and pages of forums and their "solutions". The store pulled out the CPU and was taking apart the computer to return the board and saw a BENT/BROKEN PIN on the CPU. I googled it, and it seems as if it's a normal occurrence. I got my computer to work finally with a GIGABYTE Z97x GAMING G1 board, and haven't had any problems. Beware of these boards, as they are cheaply made.

Other Thoughts: I personally wanted this board as it looks great, and the build 'looked' good. Unfortunately I spent almost 700 dollars to no avail.

5 out of 5 eggsHappy with it

Pros: Most everything has been said already...
You'll get great value (performance / price) for a gaming board right out of the box.

Cons: Some of the software

Other Thoughts: The extra "backplate" caused a problem for me. I almost broke the board trying to screw it into the standoffs. I had two extra standoffs under the board which caused the board to not fit properly with the right standoffs.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MOBO for build

Pros: Was an easy installation, bios had a very user friendly setup. After running there was a shortcut to install drivers and it was done.

Cons: I couldn't find any cons this MOBO is great, I don't understand why people crack off eggs because they don't know how to set it up

Other Thoughts: Used it for my first build and my PC is running beautifully. If you can't figure it out read the manual

1 out of 5 eggsFormula wont post RMA

Pros: Looks amazing... Haven't gotten it to do anything else so until then that's it.

Cons: Tried everything to get this mobo to boot but all it will do turn on and off by it self (which I checked the PSU with a known working one and no luck) Sometimes it will get to bios but then when asked to restart it will turn on then off again with no luck. I have called Asus and told them all the troubleshooting I did and they just told me to RMA it.

Other Thoughts: The Asus RMA process could be better. I will have to wait 2 days to revieve and email on how to send the board back for repairs all the while my sensitive equipment will need to be stored outside the case and hopefully nothing happens to that while I have to send the board back then wait for them to fix it and send it back to me. They could have just sent a new board with a shipping box to return the defective one.... I have built many computers and this was the reason I told myself I would never buy online. Guess Ill just be going back to the old Brick and Mortar stores next time.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry to hear about the issues you ran into with the board. I will be happy to assist you with your current RMA if you have any further issues. When contacting me, so that I may look into your case further, please provide me with your RMA number. Please include your reference number below within the subject line. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you had tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Thank you!Cs# N140907374

4 out of 5 eggsREAD THIS!!!! Save Yourself!!!

Pros: looks great, keeps cool, plenty of ports, AC networking

Other Thoughts: I bought this board and I absolutely love it. It looks great keeps cool and it has everything I need for expansion.

However there is a problem. The CMOS battery died after about 3 months. To replace the battery you need to remove the WHOLE board from the PC in order to remove the heat shield so you can replace the garbage $.50 battery ASUS put in the board. There are 9 screws on the bottom of the board that you need to get to to remove the heat shield on top. So do yourself a favor and replace it with an Energizer 2032 battery before you put everything together!!! It will save you A LOT of time taking everything apart or voiding your warranty by cutting the heat shield to get to the battery.

4 out of 5 eggsLove this board

Pros: The UEFI on this board is easy to navigate and adjust, there are preset Overclock settings on the uefi as well as ai suite 3 for anyone that is new to OC. The armor on the front looks amazing and gives the board a slick look to it. As far as I can do it does little for heat, the armor on the back however is made of metal and used to provide resistance against board bends when screwing the board to the chassis or trying to implement one of those cheap intel cpu fans (who'd do that).

Cons: Crosschill: This isn't a bad con, and after research its not a huge worry but I do not like that the crosschill block was made using aluminum and not copper, so i have to remove an egg

Other Thoughts: Anyone who wants to watercool using a custom loop should look into the series 7 of this board which has the copper block, if that is not the case, and this board is cheaper I highly recommend the M6F

1 out of 5 eggs2nd bad motherboard within 9 months

Pros: "Appears" to be a quality board from the board layout and feature list.

Cons: This is the second bad board in 9 months related to a bad chipset SATA controller. First once died within two weeks of the initial build and the second is exhibiting the same symptoms of random iaStorF.sys BSOD as the board randomly start disconnecting the OS drive. I have reinstalled both win7 x64 and win 8.1 on different SSDs using different ports and cables, but the issue remains and is getting worse. Same behavior happened on first motherboard and eventually led to a complete failure of the Intel SATA controller leading to data loss. All board voltages have been left to the stock AUTO setting. Not sure if it is just coincidence, but this issues started after the required 1505 bios update necessary for my new i7-4790K.

Contacting ASUS support is pointless, as I provided a detailed description of the issue and my debug steps, only to get a form letter saying BSOD are generally related to the OS, so reinstall and issue an RMA if the problem remains. After wasting another week debugging and confirming the issue with the board, I issued an RMA request that was rejected as the problem is related to the OS so they said "start there".

Strangely my new replacement Gigabyte Z97 SOC Force motherboard has now been humming away just fine for a week without one BSOD using the exact same processor, memory, SSDs, vid card, etc. while I could repeat the failure mechanism on the Asus board just by starting any robust amount of SATA activity such as validating a Steam game.

This will be my last "premium" ASUS board for a while since spending $300+ on a motherboard is no guarantee of higher reliability. Goggling the issue shows that I am not alone with this issue.

5 out of 5 eggsDown Right Beautiful

Pros: Great look, Great Board. All pin out locations are easy to read and very easy to setup. Lots of options for expansion. Clean UEFI interface

Cons: While you can use the mouse in the UEFI interface, it is almost a pain to do so. Perhaps it is because I am so used to only using a keyboard in those scenarios though. Beware of the default tweak settings on first start up. Was not expecting things to run as hot as they did right out of the box. A change from full manual fixes the issue until you can address your overclocking needs.

Other Thoughts: A great board for a great price. I have always stuck with ASUS boards so the price I have to admit seems very reasonable to me. You won't be disappointed.

2 out of 5 eggsMPCIE CARD IS GARBAGE

Pros: The board looks nice for $300

Cons: The mpcie combo 2 card that comes with this board is completely garbage. My ping rates in games are ridiculous, how can i use my $300 brand new mobo if i get lag spikes every 5 seconds?
I even pulled out my old laptop and the wifi worked flawlessly.

Other Thoughts: I tried reseating the card per online advice, and still wifi drops constantly. DO NOT BUY THIS MOBO IF YOU'RE NOT HARD WIRING.
