Dual Intelligent Processor IVs with Four-Way Optimization

One click for better performance, efficiency, digital power control, reduced noise, and improved cooling.
Starting with the Turbo Processing Unit (TPU), Four-Way Optimization performs Auto Tuning, which automatically overclocks the CPU to within about 95% of its potential, a process that typically could take up to two days to manually overclock. Auto Tuning is even able to overclock two cores at a time, and can configured to prioritize either multiplier (default) or BLCK if desired.

The process then moves to the Energy Processing Unit (EPU), which customizes power saving profiles for periods of light use or idle states. Within this module are options to set a TDP cap for low power scenarios, as well as selectively shut off SATA and USB ports when idling.

Next, DIGI+ VRM optimizes digital power settings to take full advantage of the CPU's built-in digital power delivery, creating a more precise and stable overclocking experience through OCP and LLC presets.

Finally, Fan Xpert 2 tests and calibrates each individual case fan connected to your motherboard to create selectable cooling profiles that can be further customized upon completion. The ability to assign customized fan curves and/or all-or-nothing temperature thresholds to profiles is also included.

Sonic Radar

In-Game Sound Visualization Overlay
Dedicated to FPS gamers, Sonic Radar is a stealthy overlay that shows you what opponents and teammates are up to. Gunshots, footsteps, and call-outs appear with precise directioning via the on-screen radar. Includes a hotkey that allows you to switch sound detection focus for specific effects within games, and intuitive settings that provide greater gaming experiences:

Four optimized game presets: three fine-tuned presets based on major FPS games, plus one general preset, all ready for your arena of engagement.

Six key sound effects detected: visualize major game sound effects to help you complete your mission every time.

The new BIOS also lets you name individual SATA ports so you can easily identify them to save time when defining boot sequences and other drive-related settings.

With ROG Pulse, a cool flashing ROG logo indicates system activity, and very importantly, the helpful SSD Secure Erase has been added, restoring SSD speed from inside the BIOS and with no need for less compatible third party utilities. Click the upper right tab to learn more.

SSD Secure Erase

Recover Lost Performance. Back to High Speed.

Don't Waste Your RAM: 20X Faster Storage than an SSD!
ROG RAMDisk easily turns RAM into superfast temporary storage to accelerate operating system performance and reduce load times. It can use up to 80% of available system memory, and accesses files without relocating them to protect data integrity and minimize accidental corruption. To do this, the utility creates junction points which serve as quick links between files and RAM storage. All files are automatically saved and restored to their specific locations on hard drives when you turn your PC off, then go back to RAM when you power on again.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board, except for the wireless

Pros: Board has everything you would need for a MITX build. I have it installed in a a Corsair Obsidian 250D with a Corsair H100i and I am pretty happy with it.

Cons: Included wireless card is utter rubbish. Has serious speed issues in 802.11ac mode.

Other Thoughts: Great board that does pretty much everything. Just don't think the wireless is good for anything other than basic 2.4GHZ connectivity.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware the instructions, they tell you lies !!! (update)

Pros: Its pretty, and when it works it is great

Cons: The board will turn on for a few seconds and then turn off. I have to continually keep pushing the Clear CMOS button like 15-30 times until one of the times that it turns on it stays on. Seems like if I move the computer or plug in a new USB item like a printer or camera in the back the whole thing shuts down and I have to go through the annoying process again. Seems pretty random when it will turn back on and actually work. Everything had the latest drivers and the latest BIOS update. But once it is one it is fine until I plug a new item in or move the computer. I really want to like this board but it extremely frustrating. This is the second ASUS mother board that I have gotten in the last 7 years and I have had nothing but trouble with both of them, and they were both some of their top of the line boards. I told myself I would never deal with an ASUS motherboard again after the last one and I ended up getting this one because it had everything I wanted, now I am once again regretting getting an ASUS motherboard.

Other Thoughts: I am going to return both the motherboard and CPU and get new ones of the same and give it a second try.

3 out of 5 eggsBeware the instructions, they tell you lies !!!

Pros: If you are building a computer this is the newest and best mATX Z87 Gaming and Overclocking Motherboard out there. It is packed with features I was torn between this board the EVGA Z87 Stinger and the MSI Z87I GAMING. This is a gorgeous board but keep in mind with all the features means there is a lot going on and limited room on an already small board.

Cons: The instructions are horrible and because of the material on the I/O Shield it is incredibly difficult and annoying to install. The padding on the I/O Shield is horrible I had to press so hard on the board against it when installing I thought the board was going to break. I will save you all a lot of trouble and anger the step by step instructions are horrible wrong. if you have a CPU cooler like the H100i Install the Intel backplate first before installing the mother board. Also install the SupremeFX Impact Audio card and the mPCIe Combo II first. These both need the screws on the bottom of the board. I had to unscrew my board a few times because this instructions were not until the very end, when they should have been at the beginning. Like I said the I/O Shield makes it a pain to install the board and with the horrible instructions you will have to do it more than once. The board goes in the case with four screws they should have had six or something for more support. I have a massive graphics card and the board seems like it is bending a little in the middle. I have only had the board for a few days and everything seems fine so far, board initially had a few hiccups but is working now.

Manufacturer Response:

I am sorry that the instruction manual was not what you expected. We will go ahead and notate your suggestions and pass them along to the proper channels. Alternative to the instruction manual, we do have a "do it yourself" (DIY) website which could help. The website has several how-to videos regarding several topics, such as cable management and motherboard installation; and I would highly recommend checking out the website. Below, I have added said link. Should you need any assistance in this matter, please let me know through email. 3599360.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus Max VI Impact

Pros: First, I love the colors.

This motherboard is great for an ITX gaming build. It has everything possibly needed for it's formfactor. Also the software it includes very useful and saves you a lot of time from having to google everything.

Cons: None at the moment

Other Thoughts: This motherboard has a lot of features, I recommend before you adjust any settings to at least read the manual or search the web.

3 out of 5 eggsToo good to be true

Pros: If you're looking to plop an i5-4670k into a mini-ITX motherboard, this is not a bad choice. The BIOS is really nice looking and the board delivers solid performance. The sound card is really impressive, making the utility of this board almost pay for itself.

Cons: A few things
1) the IO shield is HORRENDOUS. I really don't understand why they had to make the shield covered in that anti-static material, it just makes it a pain to work with.
2) The WIFI card is garbage. It is an angry process of trying to get it into the case and have the wire secure in the IO bracket. Not only that, but it doesn't work properly. When I first installed it I got some serious lag on games like CS:GO, TF2 and LoL. I didn't think anything of it. But now I'm having connection issues with it, it fails to even pick up routers sometimes. Even when it does connect to my router, I'm having trouble loading Youtube videos and accessing facebook. I'm going to have to purchase a USB wifi adapter now, and I thought I wasn't to have to do this.
3) The board itself is kinda hard to work with. I don't know why, but it was hard to install in my case (Corsair 250D). This might have been the cases fault, but the IO shield made the process so much more aggravating.

Other Thoughts: The board has amazing potential, but fails on some levels.

Manufacturer Response:

If I may, I would like to help. When you have the time available, please contact me through email regarding this case. Within the contents of the email, please include any troubleshooting steps tried and the serial number of your motherboard. 3556042.

5 out of 5 eggsMinor design issues, but great performance

Pros: The sound card and wifi card are absolutely amazing. This board was able to combine so many features into such a small space, I'm greatly impressed. For anybody who is deciding to go for a small-sized build, this mobo is the way to go.

Cons: Some minor flaws. For one, the IO shield is awful, the thick padding makes it almost impossible to put the board into the case. Also, the different locations of the fan headers did lead to some incredibly hard wiring.

Other Thoughts: In the end, these cons weren't enough for me to remove an egg. This board is phenomenal, and is the trustworthy heart of a high-end, condensed, gaming PC.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board But it should work the first time

Pros: You won't find another mini itx board with this many features!
Great overclocking ability.... is even more accurate with voltages than its bigger brothers.

Cons: Returned the first one I bought with for a bad intermittent onboard NIC port. Which is needed since it is the only onboard LAN port available on this board. It made me a little upset since I had to take a part my newly built fully water cooled ITX gaming box just to swap the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: This board is a great board.... once everything is up an working. However if you are building a Water cooled build with this board.... do yourself a favor, do extended testing outside the case before installation. It seems an intermittent on-board LAN is a known issue. Make sure you test for it.
