Dual Intelligent Processor IVs with Four-Way Optimization

One click for better performance, efficiency, digital power control, reduced noise, and improved cooling.
Starting with the Turbo Processing Unit (TPU), Four-Way Optimization performs Auto Tuning, which automatically overclocks the CPU to within about 95% of its potential, a process that typically could take up to two days to manually overclock. Auto Tuning is even able to overclock two cores at a time, and can configured to prioritize either multiplier (default) or BLCK if desired.

The process then moves to the Energy Processing Unit (EPU), which customizes power saving profiles for periods of light use or idle states. Within this module are options to set a TDP cap for low power scenarios, as well as selectively shut off SATA and USB ports when idling.

Next, DIGI+ VRM optimizes digital power settings to take full advantage of the CPU's built-in digital power delivery, creating a more precise and stable overclocking experience through OCP and LLC presets.

Finally, Fan Xpert 2 tests and calibrates each individual case fan connected to your motherboard to create selectable cooling profiles that can be further customized upon completion. The ability to assign customized fan curves and/or all-or-nothing temperature thresholds to profiles is also included.

Sonic Radar

In-Game Sound Visualization Overlay
Dedicated to FPS gamers, Sonic Radar is a stealthy overlay that shows you what opponents and teammates are up to. Gunshots, footsteps, and call-outs appear with precise directioning via the on-screen radar. Includes a hotkey that allows you to switch sound detection focus for specific effects within games, and intuitive settings that provide greater gaming experiences:

Four optimized game presets: three fine-tuned presets based on major FPS games, plus one general preset, all ready for your arena of engagement.

Six key sound effects detected: visualize major game sound effects to help you complete your mission every time.

There's also F4 My Favorites and Shortcuts for easy access to the BIOS features you need most, and you can even adjust boot logo size. The new BIOS also lets you name individual SATA ports so you can easily identify them to save time when defining boot sequences and other drive-related settings.

With ROG Pulse, a cool flashing ROG logo indicates system activity, and very importantly, the helpful SSD Secure Erase has been added, restoring SSD speed from inside the BIOS and with no need for less compatible third party utilities. Click the upper right tab to learn more.

SSD Secure Erase

Recover Lost Performance. Back to High Speed.
SSD performance degrades with time due to overwrite action. ROG is the world's first motherboard brand to integrate SSD Secure Erase into UEFI BIOS for better compatibility and easier use, offering the best removal method to completely delete all data on an SSD to recover lost performance and restore factory speeds.

Don't Waste Your RAM: 20X Faster Storage than an SSD!
ROG RAMDisk easily turns RAM into superfast temporary storage to accelerate operating system performance and reduce load times. It can use up to 80% of available system memory, and accesses files without relocating them to protect data integrity and minimize accidental corruption. To do this, the utility creates junction points which serve as quick links between files and RAM storage. All files are automatically saved and restored to their specific locations on hard drives when you turn your PC off, then go back to RAM when you power on again.

5 out of 5 eggsStable and no problems. Seems fast and is very compact.

Pros: This is perfect for an ITX build. It has everything most gamers would want from an ATX board. It has an improved sound card and the same overclocking capabilities. The daughter board that powers the CPU is nicely done however needs a well ventilated case because some of the cases will actually block that section from getting air. I bought it for the long lasting capacitors and reliability upper level ASUS components typically have.

Cons: only one PCIe (not really a con because the mini ITX form factor only has one PCIe, but something to think about if considering a mini ITX build when you've previously had an ATX)
You'll only have enough ports for a graphics card. The integrated sound is okay. In reality, there's not all that much difference from a normal integrated sound card. It's a little better but it wouldn't satisfy people who like discrete sound cards.

Other Thoughts: I've been using it for well over a year now and I haven't had any problems with it. When it came to gaming mini ITX boards, there really wasn't that many other good options at the time of my purchase. I have always trusted ASUS motherboards and will continue to after my good experience with this one.

2 out of 5 eggsdead board after a year (i use it at default)

Pros: -nice looking
-lots of accessories
-small itx but has everything that you need even a M.2 slot
-good when it does't crash

that's why this board still get 2 eggs from me

Cons: -after a little over a year the board crashes when im playing games
-on boot up the fan spin then stop then spin then stop couple time before it can actually boot up
-died after few month doing that spin-stop-spin thing

I did not overlock at all, everything runs at default

Other Thoughts: I have noticed that lots of people have the crash issue with this board. maybe is the qulity control went wrong on this board. I have another ROG board ASUS Maximus III Formula LGA 1156 since 2010, I overlocked it works perfectly fine. But on this ROG VI impact.... I dont have a good time with it.

1 out of 5 eggsIDK, Many issues. Love/Hate

Pros: Love the look

Super Fast

Overclocks wonderfully.

Is amazing when it's not crashing on me.

Cons: Constant and Random Crashes

Other Thoughts: I love this board, it's feature rich and performs wonderfully (most of the time)

I experience random crashes with no common reason. Works flawlessly days at a time, then sometimes crashes consecutively time after time in a single day. Or just once a month, or week. It really is just random while doing any of the following:
-Watching youtube
-Watching netflix
-Browsing craigslist
-Listening to Spotify
-Playing Games

I've upgraded the bios and all drivers yet this thing still crashes for no apparent reason. That I cannot figure out, even tech support seemed to be at a loss.

I would love to give this product 5 stars, I just cant.

A new symptom started last week. I almost always put the computer to sleep and wake it up with the keyboard. I have changed nothing yet now the computer wakes itself up after a random amount of time. (even after making the power button the only thing that is set to wake it up)

I would love to be able to return this for a new board, in hopes that the new one will not have these issues. These symptoms manifested well after the return policy expired.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Christopher,

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your motherboard crashing randomly. One possibly is that you have a computer virus that is causing the crashing. Please scan your computer to see if your computer is infected. On another note, if you are convinced that your motherboard is faulty you can submit an RMA and have it replaced at Feel free to contact me at and I will help you to the best of my abilities. Your case # for reference is N150723810

1 out of 5 eggsCrashs and freezes a lot

Pros: Its great when it is working. Running Hyper-V images and they are super fast

Cons: Seems like it freezes a lot and crashes. I have taken off all devices and video card, to insolate issue. Sometimes stays up for several days, and other time it freezes and crashes. Running Windows 8.1 and 10 with same results.

Other Thoughts: I have to think a BIO or Windows Driver will eventually fix this issue. Also, running SSD. I am suspicious of this too.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS please wake up your Quality Control person sleeping.

Pros: Newegg took back this board without any problems, but I have to pay for shipping.

Cons: Three (3) dead Asus Z87 Impact boards in a row
Bought a BitsPower Full CPU block along with Memory water block that now are a paper weight for my desk.

Other Thoughts: Three (3) x dead Asus Impact Z87 boards in a row are dead or working without certain features working. Now to make matters worse I see on many forums with Asus Reps saying we are the problem not them. Last time I check I pay for a product and you give me 100 percent customer service with a product that works. Like I said before since the launch of there new line (STRIX, Hero etc)of products there money making product like ROG are in the toilet now. Very bad quality control and customer service.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the cost

Pros: The Price is high but the function of this board in the size it is, is worth every penny, and asus for me is reliable

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Asus is a brand i used to build my first PC 10 years ago, this is the upgrade for that PC, the old pc still functions just fine, just 10 year old parts are not up to par.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We appreciate your time posting this review and we want to thank you for it. Its good to know that your satisfied with the product. For further assistance please email me at and put case # N1501105358 in the subject for your reference.

1 out of 5 eggsAnother dead board...

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: Haven't had one that works yet... Just received my second dead board. The RMA process took over a month to get here, only for it to be dead again. Never been so disappointed with a product in my life. If you spend $200 plus dollars you think quality wouldn't be a concern.

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of money.

Pros: "Features" list.

Cons: "Built in" WiFi requires a daughter board.
SPDIF optical out (that is already on the board) requires an additional daughter board to function.

Other Thoughts: Had the board working for a few weeks, then it began power cycling indefinitely without reaching POST.

Used ASUS Support page to begin the RMA process and the page timed out.
Called to Verify status of RMA and was redirected to another number.
Over 15 minutes on hold and still no answer.
I will be tossing this junk in the garbage and buying EVGA or MSi.

4 out of 5 eggsFaulty Board, Returned.

Pros: A lot of features and ports for a small ITX board. all the connectors on the motherboard were placed perfectly (except for the "HD Audio" pins).

Cons: Memory Slot B1 was faulty, the motherboard wouldn't boot to BIOS if memory was installed in that slot and displayed ERROR 55 on the LED (Memory Not Installed). Sound card is very flimsy, felt like it would break when I was trying to put the "HD Audio" connector on it. The power daughterboard got a little warm after having it on for only few minutes, but it wasn't that bad.

Other Thoughts: I am still waiting for my replacement, so we'll see how that goes.
