5 out of 5 eggsJust what I wanted

Pros: Does everything I wanted, including having an m.2 slot.
Wonderfully tiny package.
DIDN'T have bent cpu pins!

Cons: Hard to get to the SATA ports with a CPU cooler on.
Not all CPU coolers fit due to the power daughterboard.

Other Thoughts: Didn't fit a Scythe Big Shuriken 2 due to the power daughterboard, but I knew that was a gamble when I purchased. One /might/ fit if you have low profile RAM, but G.SKILL Trident X is anything but low profile. XP

1 out of 5 eggsASUS wake up quality control please

Pros: Awesome looks in a small package

Cons: Board started out by not wanted to reset/restart had to hold down power button every time to turn off then turn back on.
I proceeded with install of Windows 8.1 64-bit everything went smooth other then after installing updates still would not reset/start. (Note updated to current 1505 BIOS before this problem)
After one day of use board would not turn back on just keeps going in a loop 5 secs then shuts down then restarts over and over etc..
Also spent allot of money a BitsPower waterblock for the board and memory hope it's not a waste of money.

Other Thoughts: Tried the following before setting up a RMA with ASUS
Installed newest BIOS 1505
Installed 4790K at first then board would not restart after one day tried my 4770k same problem
Installed two sets of memory from different manufactures
Tried three different PSU

This will be my first RMA from a motherboard since I've been building computers for the past 10 years. So I am not to mad just a little disappointed with ASUS quality control because I've been seeing allot of people with the same problems. I also think ASUS is started way to many different motherboards now when they should concentrate on the old setups. And I kinda feel the ROG brand is starting the lose it's value and hype.
I will update after RMA

2 out of 5 eggsWindows 8.1 Update 1 FATAL ISSUE

Pros: Aside from this current problem, it is hand's down the best ITX motherboard.

Cons: With the latest Windows 8.1 (64bit) Update 1, the integrated graphics absolutely do NOT work. The computer does not even see this component in device manager. The driver's page on ASUS's website only has old 2013 drivers.
They replied to my issue on facebook and said an update was on it's way - that was over a month ago - they have not replied to my inquiry since.
I am not asking myself - why did I decide to go the Windows route?! I am very frustrated that ASUS would not fix this crucial problem. Thankfully I have a graphics card! It i didn't I would have no display output at all!
Asus, it is not OK not to reply back and say "an update is coming" Tell me when.

Other Thoughts: It's 2014, PC's are still in the stone age, and Windows is as bad as can be. Do yourself a favor, buy a Mac Pro. - Run Windows on that if you must!

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

I would be happy to look into this issue further for you. Please contact me through email, including the serial number of the motherboard within the email, and we can discuss this case further. 3730347.

1 out of 5 eggsBad QC

Pros: Looks nice, works well for others.

Cons: I bought this motherboard with a core I5-4670k and have had incredible frustration with it. First one that shipped said "USB Overcurrent status detected! System will shutdown in 15 seconds!" I exchanged it for a new one and guess what: Second one was also had in that it did not even get to bios, just kept on restarting every 3 seconds. I did breadboard it, use only vital components, pull out USB and done everything. I have spent 3 entire days in total only to find out it is also dead. Everyone always complements how great and reliable Asus is, and this is my first Asus motherboard, but so far I do not see how I could get shipped 2 dead boards in a row. You would think that they would try to fix their mistakes by testing the 2nd board before they ship it, but
I guess not. I hope third times the charm if not I will swear to never buy an Asus product again and I have lost 3 weeks just shipping it and having it shipped back, having to pay for shipping and it has also given me nightmares about my next board. I would have thought that Asus would test for an hour their ROG boards to see if they work especially since they are so costly compared to other solutions but maybe I am wrong. I bought a biostar, A BIOSTAR, and have not experienced these issues . Please ASUS do not Mae me suffer through this again.

Other Thoughts: Just want to say this is not Neweggs fault I bought it at micro center with a cheap core I5.

3 out of 5 eggsSound problems

Pros: everything but the sound

Cons: sound card makes speakers pops when system is turned on and then pops when shut down followed by loud thump. I'm running Klipsch 2.1 thx speakers and they work fine on my other system so not the speakers. the start pop isn't that loud but the shutdown is really loud. on my 2nd board and think I will return it not sure if I want to try another but aside from that it is a great board OC really well and great BIOS

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

I would recommend trying different speakers or headphones with the motherboard, as the speakers may be causing a short of some sort. If the problem persists after trying this, please let me know through email, and we can figure out what he cause of the problem is. 3730376.

5 out of 5 eggsbest ITX motherboard available

Pros: great design
many features
wireless AC
powerful!

Cons: I/O shield can be hard to install

Other Thoughts: this is by far the best ITX motherboard I have ever owned and it is a BEAST for gaming. If you are looking to build a small gaming rig then this is the way to go! Put this in a Corsair Obsidian 250d and you will be a happy gamer!

1 out of 5 eggsDoes a mobo that fails in 5 days even deserve one egg?

Pros: Was very happy with the mobo for the 4 days before it broke.

Cons: his mobo has been nothing but a hassle, and now I'm out the cost of the entire thing. 5 days after installation on a new gaming rig, my computer just blinks off. Dead. Attempt to restart. Nothing. I hear the PSU click on for half a second then everything shuts down. The fancy diagnostic code screen doesn't show a thing, nor the LEDs on the mobo. Great.

So I begin trouble shooting. Computer died under normal load...was actually typing an email when it died. Hadn't changed anything in bios or overclocked. I pull unnecessary components and attempt to turn on again. This time with the case apart I see sparks shoot out of the vertical power supply component of the mobo. Immediately disconnect power and call newegg for RMA.

During disassembly I was cleaning thermal paste off the processor and fan. After removal of processor there was a bit of lint near the socket. I go to brush it out and make contact with the CPU pins. Hmm. Not good. Good thing this mobo is already shot.

Well, that was enough for Newegg to reject me. Despite the fact that this thing was already FRIED and shooting SPARKS across my case, the bent pin voided the warranty. Thanks Newegg. Premier membership and all.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully can work with the manufacturer, and will update my review for the mobos sake if I can. As much of a hassle this has been, ASUS hardware has generally treated me very well in the past. My most recent experience has just been awful though. None of this ever should have happened. Also, with the fault in the power area, I HOPE nothing else in my box was affected.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

I am sorry that you are having issues with the motherboard. Since you posted this review a few weeks ago, has this case been resolved yet? If not, please contact me through email, and we can discuss this case further. 3694464.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive future for ITX

Pros: This small board will impress you. I wanted a PC that I could carry around and play games on full graphics at 1080p that wasn't hindered the way most gaming laptops are. There isn't another motherboard that can really deliver. It's a full featured ITX board which I believe has been missing until now. I like the clever solutions Asus used with the sound card, wireless card and the daughter board by building up to get everything to fit. This board lends itself well to water cooling; there are a lot of neat water blocks to chose from for this board.

Cons: Power consumption. This board is a full featured board and, unlike other ITX boards, does not have as many power saving features.

Other Thoughts: I see a lot of people complaining about the padding on the IO shield The board is designed to be locked tight and it will seem difficult to get the board in if you are afraid of breaking it. The board isn't that fragile, just be mindful and don't bend the board.

Build:
Intel i7 4770k (overkill)
Corsair Vengeance 2x 4GB 1600MHz
Asus Direct CU GTX 760
Corsair Force GT Series SSD 120GB
EVGA Hedron Air case with 500w Power Supply.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board, except for the wireless

Pros: Board has everything you would need for a MITX build. I have it installed in a a Corsair Obsidian 250D with a Corsair H100i and I am pretty happy with it.

Cons: Included wireless card is utter rubbish. Has serious speed issues in 802.11ac mode.

Other Thoughts: Great board that does pretty much everything. Just don't think the wireless is good for anything other than basic 2.4GHZ connectivity.

5 out of 5 eggsBeaut.

Pros: -Very well designed board
-Tons of OC/BIOS options (I don't OC though)
-Just being a part of the ROG club makes me feel privileged xD

Cons: None, though I wish I had opted for an ATX build so I could SLI my GTX 660 one day.
