5 out of 5 eggsNice little board

Pros: Size and value. You can get a smaller case if need be, if you are space limited. I pared mine with a Godavari 7870k and it booted right up with 8gigs of old ddr3 that I had. Got the chip for $109 so this budget build is quite a lot for the money! It's overkill actually, as I made a NAS out of it with 5 hard drives and NAS4FREE. Just updated the bios and lowered the vcore (the default is way too high at 1.48v). Super stable. With an AIO 240 cooler it's up 24/7, no issues yet. My dual PCIE Intel NIC is working fine in the single 16x slot and it setup the memory values right off the bat, no complaints with the board's function.

Cons: **Update. I was nervous about the AIO fans top-screw-tabs pushing on the ram (see below). So I cut the upper screw tabs off the fans, as the two sticks sat right under the fan screw hole location. This way the ram sticks are not touching the fans.**
My only con in this build is the board layout. The memory slots are, in a tower build, up at the top almost at the edge of the board. If you get a case that has the now common spot on top for an AIO radiator and fans, make sure you have enough room for it to not be in the way of the ram sticks. My setup just fit, the fan frames just touch the ram heatsinks, I used short screws through the inner fan holes because there was no room for the longer screw heads. (Thermaltake V31). Larger cases would probably not have this issue; but if you are looking for a small setup and chose this board for that reason, it may be a factor in what case you select.

Other Thoughts: **Update. This board has now been 'gifted' to my mother and is being used with Windows 10. With a reasonably priced AMD chip like the Godavari 7870k it is very snappy feeling in Windows and has been very stable as well with a mild OC to 4.4ghz. We are talking motherboard+memory+CPU for the same price (or less) as a mid-range Intel CPU alone.**
Going with AMD I think I got quite a lot for my money, and this board, once I updated the bios, is working quite well with the Godavari chip. No, I'm not gaming on it but it's doing fine providing 4 ISCSI luns with 4 server 2012r2 server instances installed, which are being hosted on an ESXI 5.5 home server (also an Asus board). It's too early to judge long term stability and reliability, but but at this point the setup has been no issue.

1 out of 5 eggsShould have noticed ASUS lack of response here

Pros: Features/Pricepoint

Cons: Posts 1 out of 20 tries. Usually says OC failed. Although Im not overclocking.
Resets 1 out of 50 tries. I just turn it off and try the power up lotto.
Error message - your boot device is only partially supported. So I follow instructions in Advanced Settings. Save and Reset (wont do reset ) and power up again. SAME ERROR. Fairly obvious after a couple of weeks that its the CPU tbat isnt being supported. I did install Win7 at one sitting; MB drivers, SSD drivers and Graphics card drivers. VERY SLOW functionality from system. And... back to not posting. Speaker doesnt even beep. No its not the keyboard. Perusing the Internet, it would appear its hit or miss with this MB. 30 yrs with computers and I just had to pick the 860K CPU to work with. Why its partially compatible with FM2+ is only known in Taiwan. Been many years with ASUS, but for this chip Im buying a Gigabyte board. Of course my 30 days ran out today. Kept thinking Maybe its Me...

Other Thoughts: Well this MB was made for the FM2 APUs, not Athlon. And if you read up on the APUs, it's still hit or miss with this MB. I cannot recommend this MB based on my experience. Not really a negative reviewer either. But Im out $75 so Ill try Gigabyte hoping the CPU is good. Next build is Intel.

4 out of 5 eggsNo Problems Setting Up

Pros: Have a A10 - 7850K Kaveri processor which was recognized by BIOS on startup. I must of had the updated BIOS. No issues, loaded Windows 10 drivers off website. Have not tried to over clock, seems its software driven.

Cons: Only two fan headers . One for the CPU fan and one for the chassis (4-pin). If you have multiple chassis fans (3-pin) this creates a problem. Not a big one, just have to spend more money.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend on budget build, I had not real issues.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat build and OC board

Pros: Simple OC even memory with DOCP settings
APU OC support through ASuite 3
Performs as advertised

Cons: DIMM slot 1 is VERY close to APU stock fan, doesn't cause an overheat, but if you try a liquid cooler you are limited on mounting options because of this.

Other Thoughts: OC'd RAM to 2400 simply by selecting DOCP profile 1. OC'd A10-7870K to 4400 @1.4875v with two clicks in AMD Overdrive. This is an excellent board and the add-on software aids it's operation more than it uses system resources. Everything VERY helpful, FanXpert is a dream in configuring cooling profiles. Also Digi/DRM is great in setting up CPU/NB LLC.

2 out of 5 eggsSolid Product but Doesn't Work Out of Box With FM2+ (Kaveri)

Pros: - has a bunch of neat features
- working so far

Cons: - doesn't have flashback
- doesn't work out of box with Kaveri APUs (BE WARY OF THIS!)

Other Thoughts: I literally spent a whole day making this thing work with my Kaveri processor... Luckily had another older APU installed in another computer that was compatible with this guy out-of-box. Had to pull the heatsink and APU out of a working computer to flash a new BIOS on this one in order for it to work with my new Kaveri APU. Huge hassle. But it does work now!

1 out of 5 eggsIncompatible With newer FM+ CPUs - No Flashback Feature - Didn't read the 1 star reviews carefully enough

Pros: The board has a great layout, I liked all the specs that it offered.

Cons: I didn't read the bad reviews carefully enough. I bought a A10-7850K Kaveri CPU and it's not compatible with this board, even though it says that it's compatible on multiple sites. As I understand it, the CPU is compatible, IF you update the BIOS, but since this motherboard doesn't have a "BIOS Flashback" feature, I can't update the BIOS without a working chip. So, the Mobo is effectively dead for me, it won't post. Going go to have to return it and get a newer motherboard.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked for three hours

Pros: Good price, video on board, 4 memory slots, USB 3, SATA 6Gb/s and UEFI BIOS. All very nice for a workstation build.

Cons: After installation I loaded win 7 OS and left the computer turned on. After three hours I checked on the new build and found no video on the monitor. The power LED was lit on the board and CPU fan was running. After extensive troubleshooting I found the board was dead, The CPU was cold, no POST and no beeps, Visual inspections of the board showed no apparent bad solder joints.
This board has been returned to newegg.

Other Thoughts: Over the past 30 years I have many self built computers under my belt. This is the first motherboard that was a dud in the first three hours.
I think the production quality of motherboards is getting worse.
At one time considered ASUS to be a high quality manufacture, I have my doubts now.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat for price

Pros: I am very happy with this board. for a low price budget build board it far out preforms what was expected, the PCI 2.0 that is shown in the picture is really a 3.0 slot.

Cons: none
