The Asus A88XM-A delivers the quality, features, and affordability for you to build a budget-friendly AMD Kaveri APU-based system. This motherboard is powered by an AMD A88X FCH (Bolton D4), and accommodates the latest AMD FM2+/FM2 APUs that integrate the powerful Radeon HD Series Graphics. This means you'll enjoy discrete-class graphics acceleration in your games and daily applications, without the cost or power consumption of an actual discrete video card.

This motherboard is built with an array of Asus features that make it stand out immediately. Asus 5X Protection provides all-round protection to achieve the best reliability and durability. The new UEFI BIOS makes system setting and tuning friendlier, easier, and more intuitive. The EPU optimizes power consumption by automatically detecting the CPU loading level, and the Fan Xpert helps your system achieve the perfect balance between cooling and noise with dedicated CPU and case fan controls.  This motherboard also natively supports USB 3.0 and SATA III for you to get the best performance from your devices.

  • newegg AMD A-series Accelerated Processor This motherboard supports an AMD A-series Accelerated Processor with AMD Radeon HD 7000/8000 Series Graphics. This revolutionary APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) combines processing power and advanced DirectX 11 graphics in one small, energy-efficient design to enable accelerated performance and an industry-leading visual experience. It features dual-channel DDR3 memory support and accelerates data transfer rates up to 5GT/s.
  • newegg 5X Protection Asus motherboards guard your PC with 5X Protection. This motherboard uses quality components like DIGI+ VRM digital power design for precise APU power on demand, ESD units tested to strict standards that eliminate electrostatic interference, and resettable fuses around the DRAM slots to prevent overcurrent and short-circuit damage. Corrosion-resistant back I/O shields are also adopted, providing the best possible reliability and durability.
  • newegg New UEFI BIOS The media-renowned UEFI BIOS from Asus provides the smoothest mouse-controlled graphical BIOS, and now features more intuitive functions to quickly take you to favorite BIOS pages and frequently accessed settings through custom shortcuts. You can even write quick notes in-BIOS for future reference, view an activity log of setting changes and modifications, and rename SATA ports. EZ Mode has a whole new look, upgraded with extra-friendly capabilities like detailed fan controls, D.O.C.P profile settings, SATA information, and fast clock adjustment. Together, these perfect your BIOS experience.
  • newegg EPU Tap into the world's first real-time PC power-saving chip through the AI Suite 3 utility. Get total system-wide energy optimization by automatically detecting current PC loadings and intelligently moderating power consumption. It can manually switch to Away Mode, so that you can download and stream content or backup data when away from your PC, which minimizes the power draw to save money and creates a more efficient PC.
  • newegg SATA III and USB 3.0 with UASP Support Asus provides SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports with enhanced scalability, faster data retrieval, and double the bandwidth of SATA 3Gb/s. The USB 3.0 offers blistering fast connectivity with speeds up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0. Asus USB 3.0 Boost technology supports UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) in Windows 8. With USB 3.0 Boost technology, a USB device's transmission speed is significantly increased up to 170%, adding to the already fast USB 3.0 performance. Asus software automatically accelerates data rates for compatible USB 3.0 peripherals without any user interaction.
  • newegg AI Suite 3 Asus AI Suite 3 offers a brand-new user experience through a clearer and more attractive interface with support for larger monitors. It consolidates all exclusive Asus features into one simple-to-use package, allowing you to supervise overclocking, energy consumption, fan speeds, voltages, and more. This all-in-one app offers diverse and easy to use functionality, with no need to switch back and forth between different utilities.

1 out of 5 eggsUpate 10-03-14 ASUS Lied

Pros: Worked flawlessly 6 months with the A10-5800K

Cons: ASUS lied, After 6 months of flawless performance with the A10-5800K. I checked the ASUS Support page for compatibility with the A10-7850K , and it said that it would be starting with Firmware version 1002 . So I bought an A10-7850K ,updated the firmware and NO ! It is NOT compatible. I updated all the way through the lastest firmware and threw every driver version that AMD Has ,and the HDMI never worked .Even the DVI port was flaky at best.
I reloaded windows 7 three times and nothing worked. Finally I put the A10-5800k back in ,Loaded Windows one more time and all is back to normal.

Other Thoughts: I gave this board a higher rating 6 months ago while using the A10-5800K,so if you are using a trinity based APU this is a great board
If a Kavari based APU is your goal DO NOT use this board.
I tested my A10-7850K in a Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3H that I bought here 07/05/15 and it was stable first try, without any firmware updates.

4 out of 5 eggsREALLY NICE MB for the Price!

Pros: 1.) Compact Micro ATX Motherboard with a lot of Features
2.) ASUS has really Supported this MB with a lot of BIOS Updates on a regular basis.
3.) 4 memory Slots which helps a lot if you have an Oversized CPU Cooler
4.) Built in Video which saves a slot and money.
5.) Tons of USB Connectors including USB 3.0
6.) Newer Bolton D4 Chipset
7.) 6GB SATA III
8.) Asus AI Suite Software is Nice for Tweaking Settings

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Purchased this Motherboard to build an HTPC which needs a lot of features and a compact board. HDMI was a must! This would also make a nice budget PC as you can save money with the built in video.

2 out of 5 eggsissues

Pros: Features, Price

Cons: Constant issues
In a system primarily playing Minecraft and doing web browsing, the system occasionally restarts, shutdowns, blue screens, and half the time it doesn't even leave anything in the event viewer or dump files.
Have tried changing the processor, tried adding a dedicated graphics card, ran mem test for several hours. The issue comes and goes where it will be ok for a week or 2, then start acting up again. I've even reinstalled windows, twice, to make sure that wasn't an issue.

Other Thoughts: When it works, it works fine, but once it acts up, it is just a headache.

4 out of 5 eggsASUS redeemed

Pros: ASUS was prompt and paid for the shipping to their shop in Fresno.
Mark was my techie and he investigated the board and found glitches, so he sent me a whole new board. It POSTs and BIOS recognizes all drives and RAM. Total turnaround time: about 2 weeks. Mark emailed me every day and let me know what he was doing. From now on I will just pay for the insurance on stuff like this. That way all I gotta do is send back the board, tell them it's no good, and get a new one.

Cons: Windows 7 refuses to let me complete the install; but I figure that is more of a Microsoft issue.

Other Thoughts: Don't wait past 30 days to set up your build and test your mobo: you will miss the Newegg RMA window. I'm just lucky that ASUS was as
good as they were about it.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsASUS Customer Service Sucks

Pros: VGA works

Cons: Beware ASUS does not care after they have your money

HDMI DVI will not output a signal

Have been in contact with ASUS their customer service sucks.

Two weeks and no replacement board

They are doing everything not to replace their defective board.

ASUS boards cost more than MSI or ECS and when they fail you get the run around from ASUS

Spend your money elsewhere

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings Don,

I am sorry that you are having issues with the motherboard. If you don't mind, I would be happy to help. Please contact me through email, and we can discuss this case further. 3676107.

2 out of 5 eggsPersistant Firmware issues, max 1333 RAM

Pros: It works, and the BIOS update utility is a dream.

Cons: UEFI does not conform to the standard put out by Intel.
Linux cannot access the UEFI through any means.
The mobo ignores explicit RAM speed settings.
The mobo does not run RAM at advertized settings.

Other Thoughts: My problems are not unique.

UEFI is broken, regardless of BIOS revision.

Despite the mobo seeing my RAM's advertized speed (Trident X @ 2133MHz) and doing everything I can to make it run at that speed, the settings are blaitently ignored.

I will be RMA'ing and doing what I can to change to another vendor. A mistake or two may be expected, but anything this obious and severe means systematic testing and quality assurance failures.

1 out of 5 eggsmobo is DOA

Pros: good looking board;

Cons: Will not POST.

Other Thoughts: Mobo is supposedly FM2+ compatible, but will not work with my new
AMD A10-7700 K APU/CPU. LED for stby pwr is on, but no POST.
Due to my own tardiness I have passed the Newegg 30 day window..ASUS site is unresponsive..... so now I'm stuck with a dead board!!? What the hey!

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsKaveri + Win 7 = No HDMI or DVI

Pros: I hear it sort of works with Windows 8.1

Cons: I bought this to pair with a Kaveri APU. I needed it for a dual monitor work station. Unfortunately, with Windows 7 64-bit, the HDMI and DVI do not work with the Kaveri APU. It doesn't even see them as connected. I put in an older APU and everything ran swimmingly.

I have tried all available BIOS versions and Catalyst drivers. I tried going through ASUS support and the only thing I got out of them was "our engineers are aware of the problem." The AMD forums show that this is a common issue with this board.

After waiting a month and getting nothing, I couldn't wait any longer and bought a video card to use instead. This completely negated the purpose of getting the APU in the first place.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry that you are having issues with the motherboard. At your earliest convenience, please contact me through email and we can discuss this case further. Within the email, please include the serial number of the motherboard, any troubleshooting steps tried, and your reference number (3537012).
