1 out of 5 eggspoop

Pros: fairly stable until wifi died

Cons: couldn't push my 4930k past 4.2ghz not even with 1.4v while x79 extreme11 could do 4.8 at 1.41
i got a pair of bluetooth headphones and paired them last saturday. on the next reboot i have no internet so i investigate and wifi says there are connections available but it refuses to connect to anything not even my cell's hotspot. reinstalled windows (to eliminate any virus/driver/software issues) and still no luck. the wifi is so buggered i can't even connect to the net at anything higher than .7mbps and there like 27% packet loss.

Other Thoughts: i have to rma hopefully its better than my last asus adventure (280x RMA'd 3x and still broken and they sent it back w/o my box and smelling like ramen noodle powder)

2 out of 5 eggsfrustrating and disappointing

Pros: Impressive claims

Cons: Cannot get any MB audio to work. Speakers, mic in front/back, Line in front/back all report "Not plugged in". Driver reload and trip back to Asus were no help. Factory tech-support was clueless.

Other Thoughts: With the large number of issues reported one wonders if these boards get tested *at all* before they ship.

2 out of 5 eggsWould be great, if everything worked

Pros: The feature set is good, the board doesn't get too hot, and it generally looks good.

Cons: One RAM channel was borked from the word go. Neither DIMM in channel B registered, but sticks themselves worked fine when switched between the B and C channels. That's a disappointing lack of QC.

I've opened a request for RMA with ASUS, so we'll see how this goes. Honestly, at this price point I'm expect cross shipping.

Another substantial point, the software installers are bad. I tried to install the AI suite III, and had to search the internet to figure it out. Apparently, you have to kill the initial process to get the thing to work. Seems like every other installer worked, but the much touted AI suite doesn't. That's a bit of a black mark in my book.

Other Thoughts: On the whole, it's good. Most everything worked, the advanced overclocking eventually worked (though it sets voltages dangerously close to acceptable limits), the BIOS is rather easy to mess around with, and everything is here. Assuming the RAM channels worked this would be a four or five egg board. Without that quad-channel RAM I'm rather disappointed.

Assuming that ASUS comes through with reasonable replacement I'll post a more glowing review. For now, two eggs is all I can offer. Not having access to one of the key features of the 2011 platform is pretty depressing.

1 out of 5 eggsWORST SUPPORT EVER - DO NOT BUY

Pros: Product worked fine for two months, then no audio, onboard or via my external sound card.

Cons: The motherboard is under warranty. I contacted ASUS more than three weeks ago and requested an RMA. 10 days ago they said it would be processed within 5 business days. Now my RMA number doesn't even register in their system. I've called them three times in the last week. All three times they said they would "call me back" within an hour. Nothing. No email communication. No call. No nothing. This is the worst service I've ever received from any company. I will absolutely not be buying another one of their products.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry to hear that you had a problem with your board. Did you happen to RMA it already? If not, please let me know and I will be happy to assist you with setting up an RMA so that I may look into your case further. Please include your reference number within the subject line. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you have tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Thank you!Cs# N140935208

3 out of 5 eggsMediocre

Pros: This motherboard clocks well and is stable. I had zero issues getting up and running.

Cons: The WiFi and bluetooth both died. WiFi died after the first use, and bluetooth range was so pitiful while it worked that it was worthless. Since I spent extra money for additional features, I expect them to work.

Other Thoughts: Future purchasers should NOT expect WiFi and bluetooth to work.

I do not plan on RMAing this motherboard because I don't think it's worth the risk for features that I do not use on a daily basis.

I purchased an x79 platform for the superior processor and extra PCI-E lanes.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus X79 Deluxe review

Pros: I am very impressed with this MB. This is the first Asus board I have purchased. I typically have used other big name boards in the past. I decided to try one of these based off of the features it boasted. The board layout is well thought through. The user guide is well written and illustrated. The Asus dual intelligent processors 4 software is great. It made tuning the system much easier and allowed me to focus on the fine tuning aspects. I will definitely use Asus again for future builds.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: My build;

Artic Freezer i11 CPU cooler
EVGA Supernova 1000 PSU
EVGA GTX 780 GPU

1 out of 5 eggsNever buy an open box

Pros: Yesterday I open my box first time to start building process and I found, that some pins on a motherboard are bent. The box was not sealed when it was delivered and purchase has been placed more than 45 days ago. By the policy of Newegg, the item must to be returned within a 30 days, but according to ASUS the item has warranty for 3 years. Can anyone suggest what can be done to receive a replacement or to fix an issue? And how I am going to prove ASUS that I received damaged item? Are they going to fix or fix or replace?

Cons: I even didn't get a chance to feedback positively or negatively. It won't to boot up.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Paradox ,

I am sorry that you received a motherboard with issues sir. If you are not able to contact NewEgg for an exchange, at your earliest convenience, please contact me through email including your reference number within the subject line and we can discuss this case further. Please provide me with pictures of the socket as well. Thank you. Cs#N140821458

2 out of 5 eggshuge disappointment

Pros: looks good on paper. easy to overclock,

Cons: poor quality control, high failure rate,

Other Thoughts: On my first board after one month of use the wireless failed. RMA process was ok. The second board I received one DIMM slot wouldn't recognize my memory. RMA was ok. On the third board I can't get a link light on one of the Ethernet ports. Now one of the USB ports has failed and the wireless networking has failed.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry to hear that you had a problem with multiple boards sir. Are you currently still in the middle of the RMA process? Please let me know and I will be happy to assist you with getting this case and RMA resolved. Please contact me through email so that I may look into your case further. In addition, please include your reference number within the subject line as well as past RMAs. Thank you!

2 out of 5 eggsWorks most of the time

Pros: Great customizability

Cons: - RAM banks block front-to-back cooling flow substantially. I suppose that if you want an ATX board with this many banks and PCI-E slots then there are going to be compromises. Be prepared to spend on a large case (mine is a rack case) and several aftermarket fans to keep air flowing over the CPU.
- sometimes doesn't POST for several attempts in a row (see below)
- often won't shut off / power down when the OS tells it to
- price really too high in view of the stability issues voiced by existing owners in this thread

Other Thoughts: I've owned this board for a year. It isn't bad if you boot up once and leave it running for a long time. When I try to boot it, it gets stuck about half the time at the ASUS screen and I can't even enter the BIOS. I only use it for gaming and hobby programming but it wouldn't be usable for work or a business environment. It tends to happen 5-6 times in a row before it finally reaches the boot loader and OS. Other days it just comes up normally. It's a frustrating "random" type of problem that I don't know how to fix -- do I RMA it? Send it in for repairs? What if they can't replicate the problem? It doesn't happen often but when it does happen it can take a half hour or more of sitting in front of the machine rebooting continuously in order to get it to boot.

For the price I paid, I would have expected a lot more stability. You can get a comparable supermicro workstation board for around ~ 150 more and be guaranteed of great customer support, product reliability, etc. Asus makes semi-decent gaming gear but this board should not be considered for professional use.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally

Pros: Nicely designed board, a lot of connectivity, all the extra's you would find in more top of the line boards ! UEFI runs beautifully and can make any adjustment you want ! Throw in the on board Wi-Fi and you can make your Desktop a access point !!! AI Suite 3 works perfect and just an all around solid workstation or gaming board.

Cons: Only thing so far I do not like is the spacing of the Pcie slots for SLI, you must use the top slot then the bottom slot for 16x@ 16x , OK for cooling but second card is sitting on top of all the front panel connectors and the USB hubs, and you cannot see the boards LED readouts or access some of the buttons and switches.

Other Thoughts: Bought this after all my HORRIBLE issues with a Gigabyte X79-UP4 board. Got tired of arguing with NewEgg and Gigabyte so I bought this, wanted to purchase it elsewhere but could not find one at the time or for this price. My I7-4930K which would struggle at 4.2ghz with way to much voltage on other " now paperweight board " now runs at 4.6ghz with ease at 1.385 vcore and temps with my H100i at load are around 62c - 68c !!!! Wish this NEW version of the X79 Deluxe was available when I upgraded to the 4930, I would have been a Happy Camper a long time ago ! Still a shame that I have a $$$$$ motherboard sitting in a box and that I wasted so much time, effort and frustration with ! Live and learn I guess !!!
