2 out of 5 eggshuge disappointment

Pros: looks good on paper. easy to overclock,

Cons: poor quality control, high failure rate,

Other Thoughts: On my first board after one month of use the wireless failed. RMA process was ok. The second board I received one DIMM slot wouldn't recognize my memory. RMA was ok. On the third board I can't get a link light on one of the Ethernet ports. Now one of the USB ports has failed and the wireless networking has failed.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks most of the time

Pros: Great customizability

Cons: - RAM banks block front-to-back cooling flow substantially. I suppose that if you want an ATX board with this many banks and PCI-E slots then there are going to be compromises. Be prepared to spend on a large case (mine is a rack case) and several aftermarket fans to keep air flowing over the CPU.
- sometimes doesn't POST for several attempts in a row (see below)
- often won't shut off / power down when the OS tells it to
- price really too high in view of the stability issues voiced by existing owners in this thread

Other Thoughts: I've owned this board for a year. It isn't bad if you boot up once and leave it running for a long time. When I try to boot it, it gets stuck about half the time at the ASUS screen and I can't even enter the BIOS. I only use it for gaming and hobby programming but it wouldn't be usable for work or a business environment. It tends to happen 5-6 times in a row before it finally reaches the boot loader and OS. Other days it just comes up normally. It's a frustrating "random" type of problem that I don't know how to fix -- do I RMA it? Send it in for repairs? What if they can't replicate the problem? It doesn't happen often but when it does happen it can take a half hour or more of sitting in front of the machine rebooting continuously in order to get it to boot.

For the price I paid, I would have expected a lot more stability. You can get a comparable supermicro workstation board for around ~ 150 more and be guaranteed of great customer support, product reliability, etc. Asus makes semi-decent gaming gear but this board should not be considered for professional use.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally

Pros: Nicely designed board, a lot of connectivity, all the extra's you would find in more top of the line boards ! UEFI runs beautifully and can make any adjustment you want ! Throw in the on board Wi-Fi and you can make your Desktop a access point !!! AI Suite 3 works perfect and just an all around solid workstation or gaming board.

Cons: Only thing so far I do not like is the spacing of the Pcie slots for SLI, you must use the top slot then the bottom slot for 16x@ 16x , OK for cooling but second card is sitting on top of all the front panel connectors and the USB hubs, and you cannot see the boards LED readouts or access some of the buttons and switches.

Other Thoughts: Bought this after all my HORRIBLE issues with a Gigabyte X79-UP4 board. Got tired of arguing with NewEgg and Gigabyte so I bought this, wanted to purchase it elsewhere but could not find one at the time or for this price. My I7-4930K which would struggle at 4.2ghz with way to much voltage on other " now paperweight board " now runs at 4.6ghz with ease at 1.385 vcore and temps with my H100i at load are around 62c - 68c !!!! Wish this NEW version of the X79 Deluxe was available when I upgraded to the 4930, I would have been a Happy Camper a long time ago ! Still a shame that I have a $$$$$ motherboard sitting in a box and that I wasted so much time, effort and frustration with ! Live and learn I guess !!!

3 out of 5 eggsSATA Ports Again!

Pros: Easy OC. Great bios ui.

Cons: Back in January I posted a review talking about an issue I was having with the SATA ports and how they died after 3 weeks of use. Specifically it was the MARVELL sata's, and it took another 6 months to fail this time but its happened again. Thankfully there are other sata ports I can use but the fact that this happened twice now on this same part is frustrating. Thankfully I'm not running some sort of complicated raid or I would be mad as hell at the loss of the sata ports again.

I had to rma the original board and frankly I'm not sure I wanna go through the hassle again with this nonsense.

There have also been tons of driver conflicts with the REALTEK audio to the point where I just deleted the driver all together cuz it was causing way too many problems and conflicts with games like Titanfall and Battlefield 4. Not sure what the deal is but apparently I'm not the only one to have these issues where the system crashes or locks because the conflict.

Other Thoughts: In my other review I said I have never had any issues with any ASUS mbs until this one, and while it hasn't been a complete loss, I am still disappointed and wish I had the money to get something different because at this point I cant return it for a refund.

I always try and spend a little more money to get the best thing I can afford, but in this case I wished I could go back and get something cheaper cuz the board simply isn't worth the price all things considered and with hindsight.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: None. Board was DOA. Tried to contact Asus and get an RMA only to find out that the RMA is refurbished. So after sending me a defective board they want to send me a board that was already broken that they fixed lol. No thanks Asus.

Cons: Everything. Board was broken from the moment I took it out of the box. The computer would not boot. Bios chip was shot right off the bat. Asus customer service is an absolute

Other Thoughts: Do not buy anything Asus. Their company does not care about the consumer at all. They made this process much worse than it ever had to be.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None. DOA means no pros.

Cons: Not only was the board DOA, but trying to deal with Asus to get an RMA is absolutely insane. They do not care in the slightest, and they offer you a refurbished board to replace the board you just received. I have never in my life heard such absolute disdain for customers. I will never buy another Asus product again.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy this board or any Asus product. Horrible experience.

5 out of 5 eggssnipeap55

Pros: This motherboard replaced an Arock X79 Extreme9, a peace of junk. The Asus X79 Deluxe motherboard so far have out performed and worked circles around the x79 extreme peace of junk.

Cons: So far not a one.

Other Thoughts: This has to be the best motherboard I have ever bought.

2 out of 5 eggsis great when it works

Pros: Very fast, nice bios plus tons of options, a great motherboard when it works

Cons: I got two bad motherboards in a row before finally I got one that works.

The first one 3 bad ram slots, the second one five bad ram slots.

Third one is working fine so far.

Other Thoughts: I've always gotten Asus, but after this experience I'm rethinking it. There's always a chance to get A bad board, but two in a row???

What's going on with the QA program at Asus?

5 out of 5 eggsHappy despite price.

Pros: I bought this shortly after IB-E came out mainly because I wanted compatibility with IB-E right out of the box. Other boards already out likely would have needed flashing.

I was initially a bit annoyed at this board being my only convenient option, because of the price. But have since come to believe it was worth it after having 6 months to use/make use of features. I didn't expect to need wifi or BT, but now I'm glad I have it built in and don't have to add it on!

Also love the little plug thing that ASUS includes for keeping all the little single pin wires together in a clump.

Cons: none.

2 out of 5 eggsVery Dissapointed

Pros: Good service and fast delivery from Newegg.
3 year warranty on the motherboard

Cons: Wireless Wi-Fi died less then 6 hours after the first power up of the machine.

Other Thoughts: Clean install of Windows 7 64bit with all updated drivers. After wireless died I did another clean install of windows and updated drivers. Wireless still dead.

Found out the this motherboard was having the exact same problem with the wireless over a year ago Apparently Asus knew about the problem back then and has done nothing since then to fix the problem but has no problems continuing to knowingly sell defective and very expensive motherboards.

Thank you Asus for taking my money for a very expensive motherboard that you knew was defective. I can guarantee that It will be the last time that you get any of my money and I will be sure to spread the word around about the quality or lack of that you have in your products.
