1 out of 5 eggsthis board is junk and ASUS service is even worse

Pros: absolutely none

Cons: I build systems for a living and have to say ASUS has lost it. They used to build some of the best boards in the business but no longer. The only thing worse then their boards is there service. I have had a few system builders tell me this but apparently I needed to learn it for myself. They claim its users fault for junk equipment.

Other Thoughts: Worked fine for about 3 weeks and then just died and wouldn't even come up to a bios screen as others have stated.

4 out of 5 eggsSmall Board

Pros: decent small board for office or personal home computers. Just don't expect too much and you'll be fine.

Cons: Issues with on board nic dropping internet (Win7 64bit). Originally installed driver from included CD. Updated drivers from nic manufacturer website, issue resolved.

Only has 1 chassis fan connector.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent MB

Pros: Fast shipping
Nice basic MB for a customer build that needed a good, fast basic home office PC, and this fit the bill.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: So I stuck an Intel Pentium 3ghz, and 4 gigs DDR3 RAM, and a 120 GB SSD, and a ASUS DVD drive on it, and it's all powered by an Antec 500 watt PSU, and loaded Windows 7 64 bit home edition on it, and this sucker starts up in 9 seconds flat, and apps fly open, and the new PC runs fast, and smooth and quiet. This is a good, simple, basic MB for a basic home PC, and I have had no issue with it yet.

1 out of 5 eggsZero support from Manufacturer

Pros: Worked well until it died.

Cons: Not very reliable, no customer support from manufacturer.

Other Thoughts: You'd think a brand as well known as ASUS would honor their warranties instead of denying a warranty claim by stating that what is clearly shown as the serial number in a photograph of said serial number sent in with the Warranty claim is an invalid serial number (essentially lying).

Maybe they just have no idea what to do when one of their products fails.

3 out of 5 eggsQ/A?

Pros: Cheap
....
hmmm, that's it

Cons: Came with a whole row of bend CPU pins
Still uses old style capacitors (not a really a con, but what year is this?)

Other Thoughts: My biggest grief with this board is that it came with a whole row (15 or so) of CPU pins that were bent upwards. Not sure how you could do that, maybe it got snagged by the guy doing QA. Who knows!?

This board replaced the exact same board model from a computer that had died after only 6 months of use. I was trying to do a favour for someone to fix this and I wanted it done asap.

Good thing I didn't have my second coffee yet, so my hands were somewhat steady and I could push the pins down carefully. Normally this would (and SHOULD) be an RMA, but I know how hard it is to convince the whole 'bend cpu pins' issue and I just didn't have the time.

I have not had the time with this board yet to experience the NIC issues that everyone seems to complain about, but considering that one board is dead and another got bad pins, then this is NOT the board you want if you care about quality.

3 out of 5 eggsIssues with 16x slot

Pros: Nice board. Asus is always quality. Ran into an issue this time when building a firewall.

Cons: The 16x slot has an issue. I plug in a QUAD 4x NIC and it will not see it. Plug the 4x dual NIC in and it sees it. Thought it was the card, but using a 1x to 16x adapter, the card is seen.
Been messing with it and Asus tech support to long so Newegg wont take it back for a swap out.

Other Thoughts: I guess I will have to RMA it and get a fixed board. :(

2 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal...if it works.

Pros: Bargain mobo for the price. Plenty of features. Love the BIOS interface.

Cons: The same as many others: the NIC driver. It was shaky a few times but Windows was always able to quickly diagnose and quickly correct a few disconnections.

When the disconnects became more annoying, I went to the Newegg reviews and saw the complaints about the driver issue.

Unfortunately, before I could install new drivers Windows put the driver to "sleep" to save power. Now, whenever I try to install new drivers the PC quits at the very end because it says it requires a LAN cable to be plugged in; the irony is that a cable is plugged in but because the driver is asleep the system thinks otherwise.

Bottom line -> can't install new drivers to make LAN connection work.

Tried a million things to weasel the drivers on there. Restore original BIOS settings, try to install old drivers, other drivers, take the whole darn computer apart and put it back together again, boot with only critical parts. Nothing has resolved the problem.

Other Thoughts: I've had a pretty good experience with ASUS' stuff before. This was the first faulty product I've received from them. Harumph.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cheap board

Pros: - Compact design
- Easy install, both in the case and of the CPU
- UEFI BIOS is easy

Cons: - NIC was wonky, but when researching the mobo, I had seen ASUS post an update. DL'ed the update and it works perfectly!

5 out of 5 eggsAsus H81M-K ATX MoBo Review

Pros: Accepts LGA 1150 Intel CPU's (4th gen)
Has built in
Mounts perfect into the Rosewill Mini ATX Case I also purchased
Has two slots for DDR3 memory
Has one PCI Express x16 slot and two PCI Express x1 slots for other peripherals such as a WiFi card
Two SATA 3Gb/s and two SATA 6Gb/s inputs
Ouputs include DVI port and VGA port (but can only use one or the other)
Two USB 3.0 ports on the back
Analog audio ports are great!
Still included RJ-45 port (great if you don't have WiFi)
Asus quality build
BIOS is easy to use
Does NOT get hot at all, temperature stays pretty cool (for a Mobo)

Cons: Did not have HDMI output, but not really a con for this price. No stars taken away because you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: Bought for an HTPC build. It's economical and it does the job. Used an i3 Intel CPU and it does HD video flawlessly. Not going to play games so don't need high end graphics card. I did include a graphics card (EVGA GeForce 210) for HDMI out display.

Overall, I've used ASUS motherboards for a long time now in my PC builds and they've all worked flawless till this day. This mobo is no exception.

If you need a simple HTPC where you're NOT going to play high end graphic games, I'd highly recommend this mobo. It streams and plays HD videos flawless and gets the job done for an economical price.

4 out of 5 eggsGood so far

Pros: Easy physical install. Great BIOS interface. No driver or configuration issues.

Cons: None. I limited my review to 4 stars because I've only had the box running for a few light-duty weeks.

Other Thoughts: I wasted a few bucks on a separate LAN card based on a few reviews. My install of Ubuntu Linux 14.04 was the easiest OS install I've ever seen. No compatibility issues whatsoever.
