5 out of 5 eggsWorth The Extra Money

Pros: It booted first try and was a breeze to set up. There is a lot in the bios to look through and setup the way you want your computer. The board has no problems with my A10 Fm2+ processor or my gskill 2133mhz memory. The Video card is running at Pci-e 3.0. I am a happy camper and I can see many nights camped in front of this computer gaming.

Cons: The SATA ports are a pain in the backside or they were in my mid atx case. It took me several tries to get them plugged in while trying to be gentle. I see most of the new motherboards have them designed this way.

Other Thoughts: After having an issue with another brand board with the same chip set ( it only lasted 4 months) I started browsing motherboards and reading reviews to try and make a better decision. I Knew I wanted to stick with an FM2+ processor so that made things a little easier. I got down to an Asrock and Asus which I own both brands and know they both perform well. In the end it came down to customer reviews. Asus seemed to have less issues while reading what customers had to say. I am pleased with my choice and confident it will last me a while. I have 10 year old Asus boards that still run perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW

Pros: Has everything,(I/O) that I will ever need. Plenty of config options, and OH,, the BIOS UI is really kewl. Haven't upgraded mobo in 5 years so most eggHeads all ready know about new BIOS's,, no more blue with white font in columns. Has a code block that tell you what is going on with & while the system boots, very kewl.

Cons: Nothing yet, but I doubt that anything will popup and surprise me.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a full size, FULL I/O mobo... Buy thisone or two and upgrade a second computer. I dropped an AMD A10 7850 in this monster WOW!
Can't wait to get my new DAW going...

5 out of 5 eggsGood for New Builders & Great Audio

Pros: This mobo is great for new builders. It comes with full instructions and troubleshooting information unlike my gigabyte mobo which basically said put in on your case with no directions at all.
The mobo also comes with some good options for reflashing and updating the BIOS. Also Asus continues to update the BIOS, utilities like AI Suite, and drivers for this motherboard.
The audio on this board is great, I can use my ATH-M50s and hear everything I'm supposed to. I recommend comparing your case's front audio port against the motherboard's back port to make sure you get the same quality. I found about 6 months later that my case's front audio port was filtering out some of the mid tones and the front speaker port didn't work at all.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I got this to replace my Gigabyte mobo when I thought it short circuited. Also the audio on my gigabytre UP5 was absolutely terrible.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: Well made with lots of features. Plenty of room around the CPU socket for larger coolers. Digital on-board diagnostic. Can flash the CMOS/BIOS without powering on the motherboard...WOW! I think this might allow you to re-flash a messed-up CMOS/BIOS.

Cons: The USB 3.0 configuration is a bit odd. Two paired with two ESATA ports. The other two paired with the ethernet port. It's no big deal, but I would have expected all four ports together. (Look closely at the photo and where the four blue USB ports are located.)

Other Thoughts: Even detects power fluctuations... While I was powering on as a visual test, I then unplugged it. The next time booting was a message about power fluctuations during the prior boot process.

I wish I hadn't scrimped on my last board, and paid the extra to get a good ASUS board like this one. I'd have saved money and frustration in the long run.

3 out of 5 eggsSeiki 39 4K HDMI Not Recognized

Pros: Good board as far as it went, but would not recognize the HDMI port to run a Seiki 39 4K monitor. AMD A10-7850K processor.

Cons: This board has not recognized the HDMI port to run a Seiki 4K monitor. The system was purchased to use the 4K monitor with computer assisted design. All other display modes work, except the HDMI port.

Other Thoughts: Except for the HDMI port the board was extremely easy to set up.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus A88X-Pro

Pros: This board has a good feature set. It has worked reliably for two months since purchase as a component of a work station in a research lab. Status LEDs and 2 digit numeric display on MB are very useful during system setup.

Cons: Somewhat twitchy driver installation (Win 7 Enterprise, 64 bits). Some driver installers available on the Asus support site (2/2014) did not work correctly.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board for use as a component of a moderate - performance, value - priced work station for use in a research lab after consulting the Asus HCL for the board, CPU, and RAM combination purchased. It has performed reliably since installation. We process mass spectrometric data with it in metabolomics experiments that involve large sample sets. Batch jobs run for 24 to 36 hours at 90% of CPU saturation for all 4 cores. Nothing is overclocked. Nothing is more than warm to touch on the MB during extended computation.

Driver installation for a Win 7 E 64 bit operating system build was slightly problematic. The NIC and video driver installers available on the Asus support site in February 2014 didn't work. I contacted Asus tech support via chat about this twice. They suggested downloading the installers again, which I already had done, and to return the board if this didn't resolve the problem. Asus does not provide MD5 or other checksums with drivers, unfortunately, so there is no way to check quickly for possible corruption of downloaded files. The video driver installer from ATI / AMD worked as expected. There was a working NIC driver on Broadcom's site, so everything was working soon enough. I would buy this again.

5 out of 5 eggsLook, ma! No Video Card.

Pros: Great board at a great price.
Easy to install and setup.
Clear instruction manual with lots of configuration possibilities.
Nice looking.
Comes with all hardware for installation.

Cons: Just the usual SATAIII placement problems, i.e., side mounted. Cables could be tight if case is not large enough.

Other Thoughts: I was worried that I would need to add a video card to this board because of needing to spend hundreds more. But so far plays games without lag. As others suggested, I put the AMD 3.7 CPU on this board with the Hyper 212 cooler and it is running at 4200 @ less than 35 degrees C. Sound is great. I feel like a genius, but I owe it to the great reviews found here on this site. Thanks to all who helped.

3 out of 5 eggsNot pleased

Pros: Easy to set up.

Cons: EBIOS has many bugs. Mine wasn't able to load with a flash drive ever though it' has that feature. Ultimately the bios crashed and the board never was able get past the error beeps. Things were OK and running until I used EZ- Bios update. For some reason it shorted it self out while I was doing an update.,

Other Thoughts: BIOS was difficult to navigate due to the screens resolution and 1/3 of the page.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for purchasing an ASUS product!

The UEFI should work as intended. If it is not, there may be something else causing the problem. For me to look into this further, please send me an email, including what type of file type your flash drive is using, and we can discuss this case further. 3676143.
