5 out of 5 eggsMoney Well Spent

Pros: If you are a serious PC enthusiast/gamer then this is the motherboard you want. This motherboard has proven reliable under some harsh overclocking conditions as well as thermal brutality. I won't go into the specifics, but this board can take what you can deal out. Using two VCs in crossfire mode with phenomenal performance from both the processor and the cards. Pleny of features on this board to let you control voltages, fan speeds, freq. and multiplier. The featuers just go on and on. Read the specs and overview. That's what you get and, as usual, Asus blows away the competition.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsA fairly good and stable motherboard

Pros: It does its job great, and a wonderful motherboard to have for its price! It had more slots than I imagined, giving me a better versitility on what I needed. For an ASUS brand, it works quite well too, running a lot better than most other motherboards I had! Having a 4 pin slot for fans gives it a great adaptability of fan control too! The integrated sound quality is great as well, and the integrated graphics is sub-par, mainly depending on what you plan to use it for.

Cons: The 4 pins at first bothered me, since all of my fans only have three pins. However, this only meant the fan control is not an option for now. It does not bother me anyways, since the standard fan setting it has makes it fairly quiet regardless.

The spacing for the 4 pin sockets for the fans however... will somewhat affect the placement and the type of casing you are putting the motherboard inside. I did run into an issue with a couple of fans inside my larger cases, having the pins not quite close enough for the back end of the case, which may strain the wires over time. This however, was solved when I bought new fans at least. Reason why I find the integrated graphics card sub-par is because it wasn't that powerful as I had hoped. It did its job, sure, but I was not able to play a few games with my set-up. For later games, I would highly recommend getting a better graphics card to solve the problem.

Another issue that I had with this is the sound. While the sound is great, you really need to figure out which jack will work best for headphones and the likes. And sometimes when you restart the computer, you need to manually unplug the jack and plug it back in order to make it work properly.

A major concern is that whenever I have a power outage, or simply moving my computer from one room to the other, the motherboard seem to forget all of its settings, and I have to reset the internal clock and everything! I tried replacing the battery for it a few times already, and it seemed to have not worked at all. I unfortunately do not know how to fix it. This may be a fairly minor issue for me, it is a major issue for a lot of people whom moves around a lot.

Other Thoughts: This is a great ASUS motherboard when you want to go with the A series or APU's that they have! I haven't had any actual trouble with it for quite sometime either. It is a great buy for what it does, given if you have the right parts to make it shine nicely. Again, the turn-down would be the fact that the internal clock seems to reset itself when you simply unplug the computer. Even replacing the battery didn't fix it, so it has to be some sort of firmware/hardware issue inside it. If that doesn't bother you and you figured to deal with it, then this is a pretty stable motherboard.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: Got it in a bundle with the A10-7850k, At the time of purchase it was in my opinion the best FM2+ board on the market, its reliable, stays cool, and looks phenomenal.

The bios is simple enough that someone with less experience wouldnt have an issue, and AI Suite's fan tuning is amazing.

Cons: It doesnt support M.2, so if you are looking to go M.2 then avoid this.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Waste Your Time

Pros: None noted

Cons: Poor Customer Service

Other Thoughts: This is a follow up to my initial review. I was asked to contact ASUS Customer Loyalty. I did so 2 weeks ago. From the response I received back, it was clear that the writer did not read or understand the problem with my DisplayPort connection and the previous repair attempt. I use the term repair loosely, as no one at ASUS has told me what repair was made despite repeated requests. I have heard nothing from the Customer Loyalty rep in over a week. More waste of my time.

3 out of 5 eggsPoor Customer Support

Pros: Features versus other A88X boards.

Cons: Defective DisplayPort Connector

Other Thoughts: I purchased this motherboard over a year ago due to its features and my previous experience with ASUS products. One of the main features that that tipped my decision in favor of this motherboard was the DisplayPort video option. At the time, I did not own a DisplayPort monitor, but I purchased an ASUS ProArt monitor at the end of last year.

I have had problems with the DisplayPort connector on the motherboard, ever since I started using it. The video cable end does not fit snugly into the motherboard connector, and I am constantly having to jiggle to cable in order to get a video signal. I swapped the cable connectors between the monitor and the motherboard, but that made no difference, so I know it is not the cable or monitor that is causing my signal problems. In addition, I have never had a signal problem with the DVI connection. I am writing this review using my DVI monitor, as I currently have no video signal on the DisplayPort monitor.

In September, I finally got fed up with having to constantly jiggle the cable to get a DisplayPort signal, so I contacted ASUS Customer Support. After an exchange of several messages, ASUS sent me an RMA number. I removed the motherboard, and sent it to ASUS, at my cost, for repair. I never received an acknowledgement that they received it, so I contacted them the week after I received confirmation of delivery from the shipper. I was told that it had been repaired and was being returned to me. I received it the next day.

I reinstalled it in my computer, only to discover that it had not been repaired and that my problems were worse than before. Now, in addition to frequent No Signal messages, I find that when it does get a signal, it is often degraded. My ProArt monitor has a native resolution of 1920 X 1080, but it often defaults to 640 X 480 on boot up. I end up having to jiggle the cable and rebooting to get a good signal.

I again contacted ASUS Customer Support and told them of my problems. I also asked them what they had done to repair my motherboard, since there was no repair sheet with the returned motherboard. Despite repeated requests for the repair information, ASUS has failed to provide it.

After another lengthy message exchange, ASUS offered to send me another RMA number. I asked them to send me a working replacement motherboard and a return shipping label. They declined. I have declined their offer of a second RMA. It is not cost effective, both in money and lost time.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer Peter,

Thank you for posting this informative review on your experience with our ASUS product. I'm sorry to hear about your defective DisplayPort connector. It’s unfortunate to hear that our ASUS Support falls below your expectations. Did you get a case number for your time with one of our support agents? I’d like to do research on your case and forward it to the management team to avoid the same issues in the future. What BIOS version are you operating on? Have you tried uninstalling then installing your graphics driver on safe mode? I’d like to know if there are any more issues other than the ones you’ve explained above. You can contact me at cl-nestor@asus.com. I am here to help you with any technical questions or inquiries to the best of my abilities. Please use N151110488 as reference to this case.

Thank you for choosing ASUS!

Best Regards,

3 out of 5 eggsTest all components and I/0s

Pros: When it briefly worked performance was as expected with Asus motherboards. Despite many negative reviews regarding Asus Customer Service my RMA was handled professionally, promptly.

Cons: Basically DOA. Some I/O ports loose especially HDMI. A2 -B2 ram dimm slots not reliably functional. Box had been opened, owner's manual front cover was bent backwards?? Board was slightly warped upon placement in new FD R5 case. Removed Board placed flat surface material on Mobo standoffs and case was level. Packaging only 1 slightly inflated air pillow providing very little protection for contents especially an electronically sensitive PCB. No bubble wrap as other mobos.

Other Thoughts: Difficult to determine cause for defective items with the exception of HDMI and Dimm Slots. Manufacturer or reseller handling or packaging. Slight warped PCB inclined to believe manufacturer error or possibly returned and resold item.

First Asus mobo I had to RMA in 20 years. However as mentioned Asus "COMPONENT" Customer Service was exceptional compared to Asus' Technical Support.

Will update rating upon replacing "Refurbished" mobo from Asus.

NOTE: Do your homework before purchasing Extended Replacement Warranty. It's not Replacement. Advice: Call Service Net for details.

3 out of 5 eggsCANNOT SLI

Pros: I will make this short and sweet, really great board for the price, it has been running rock solid with no issues. Easy to install. The BIOS simple to navigate for non tech savvy people.

Cons: Reason for 3 stars? Why have a board that has 2 x PCIe 3.0 slots but you cannot SLI? This is pretty frustrating.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Carlos,

I am sorry that you're disappointed that your motherboard cannot run SLI and the inconvenience it caused you. If you happen to have any questions or concerns, please email me at cl-justin@asus.com and use case number: N150841373 and I will do my best in assisting you.

Pros: product works

Cons: i have submitted the rebate form, in accordance with the online registration. i have attempted to track the rebate by clicking the links provided in the email with no results. i then called asus to check status and was routed to RMA no one would help with the rebate status. it appears that this is the typical rip off tactic that i have heard about from other unsatisfied customers.
