4 out of 5 eggsGreat for budget but...

Pros: Inexpensive, has a lot of sata ports, easy bios, fast start up

Cons: only FM2+ (which is quickly getting outdated) and getting dedicated GPU is pointless if the CPU you buy has an APU, or so the folks on /r/pcmasterrace from reddit tell me.

Other Thoughts: Nothing wrong with this board except it's FM2+ - I could have spent $30 more and gotten an intel chipset instead, which, I will be doing, but now I'm out money from this board.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: ASUS used to be the brand of choice

Cons: I went through the trouble shooting list to try and find out why my motherboard wasn't powering on, but it came down to a bad board, I bought it on sale but by the time I got all the other components, the 30 day return was gone, that is the last time I buy my pc in pieces, buy everything at once, that way if something don't work, you got time to send it back

Other Thoughts: don't piece mill your pc together, get your parts all at once, I tried to go the cheap route and buy a part here and there when it came on sale, now I am going to spend even more money in the long run to get this pc running, I think I am going to go with another brand next time

1 out of 5 eggsTotal JUNK

Pros: Absolutely none.

Cons: The entire experience. Double check with the ASUS website and make sure that your processor is 100% compatible with the BIOS before you buy this board. I too ordered the 860k which ASUS customer support stated they supported; but failed to inform me with the updated 1001 BIOS; not the 0208. So... one of their support members informed me that I could order the upgraded BIOS chip and sent me the link. Well, it was the incorrect chip - in fact, when I phoned the estore, they stated they do not support the upgraded chip for this motherboard. They are issuing me a refund.

Other Thoughts: Logon to the ASUS website and make sure your AMD processor is supported by the OLD BIOS of this board, not the new. If it isn't supported, you have to send the board back to ASUS for a fee and have them upgrade it, or buy a compatible processor with the 0208 BIOS, upgrade it, then switch to the processor you want - in my case, an 860k. Or, if you're lucky enough, you may have a friend that has a compatible processor you can borrow.

Don't respond to this ASUS; don't tell me your sorry or any of the rest of that tip-toe mushy make the customer happy lingo. I am DONE with you. You've lost me as a customer, and everyone else I will be building a computer for in the future...

2 out of 5 eggsOutdated BIOS, unusable menus

Pros: Cheap, mostly works once BIOS is updated.

Cons: 860k will not work without update to BIOS. Had to use a different CPU to update.

Can't use BIOS screens properly as the menus are cut off. No display mode changes I made enabled me to see the menu items that were off screen. Had to blindly hit menu buttons to reach certain options.

Other Thoughts: Companies need to do critical BIOS updates on their products before shipping them.

1 out of 5 eggsDid I buy a new motherboard or a returned one?

Pros: No comments

Cons: I bought this motherboard as new in a combo, the order came from different places (I don't know why) the motherboard came with no back plate and no screws, no MOBO speakers are found in the package.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat buy for the price!

Pros: Great mobo all around. Love the 4 ram slots on a micro. Performs as good as I could have hoped.

Cons: Didnt come with any drivers. Had to manually download and install all of them using Driver Identifier (Fantastic program if you havent tried it).

Can't crossfire the APU with the onboard graphics. Something I was hoping to try. Maybe you can and I just haven't figured it out yet but they don't make it easy if you can.

Can't seem to find any working fix to the usb 3.0 problem I am encountering. I plug my USB devices into the usb 3.0 receptor, the computer detects that something has been plugged in, but it wont allow me to access the media drives I plug in nor will it list what device has been plugged in. Also, it continually makes the dun dun sound from when you plug in a device. Not a big deal since I don't really use USB 3.0 slots, but this would be a downer for someone who needed them.

Other Thoughts: The audio connector on the mobo doesnt match that of the standard case female component. I had to jerry rig it to get the onboard audio to work, though since it works, i don't consider it a con.

1 out of 5 eggsFrustrating

Pros: It sort of works now.

Cons: When I got this it came with the original BIOS version which did not support my processor. I had to borrow my sister in law's processor to update the BIOS. Just when I finally had the rig set up with a nice SSD RAID 0 the thing started bluescreening once every day on the fist start up. 1 month ago, they came out with an even newer BIOS which claimed greater compatibility with my processor. It still bluescreens once a day.... I've tried breaking my raid and reinstalling windows. I check every day for the latest drivers and all that. I've tested all of my other components and am just left with my third faulty ASUS product.

4 out of 5 eggsTrouble with FreeBSD 10.1

Pros: Good feature set for an inexpensive board

Cons: Couldn't get FreeBSD 10.1 xorg to work with the onboard AMD video, put a cheap Nvidia GT210 in the PCIe slot and it worked with zero fiddling. So not a real bad problem, but would have been nice to use the onboard for this build.

Other Thoughts: Yes, I know you can get a better AMD driver from ports, but it wasn't worth the time to fiddle with since the NVIDIA worked with the default FreeBSD install.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Typical Asus Quality. Perfect fit, easy build with adequate space for 16gb ram and a Coolermaster Hyper 212

Cons: Realtek ethernet not working. Unplugged the CAT5 from this build and into the Dell next to it to write this review.
