With great processing power in a mini-ITX form factor, the Asus J1800I-C Intel Celeron J1800 SoC CPU Board is designed for digital signage, kiosks, and everyday computing systems. This board is based on a dual-core Celeron J1800 CPU running at 2.41 GHz with Burst Frequency of 2.58 GHz. This soldered-on SoC also has integrated Intel HD Graphics with support for DirectX 11 and HDMI/VGA dual display outputs. The large gold-colored heatsink passively cools the 10W max TDP CPU for fanless, peaceful computing.

Despite its ultra-compact size, this motherboard also incorporates two SO-DIMM slots, one mini PCIe slot, one PCIe 2.0 x1 slot, and dual SATA 3.0Gb/s connectors. The latest USB 3.0 connectivity, and a legacy COM port, are included at the rear panel. This motherboard is also built with an array of Asus exclusive features, like Network iControl, USB 3.0 Boost, and AI Suite 3, assuring you great experience whether in a system build or in everyday operation.

  • newegg CPU and Chipset This motherboard features an integrated Intel Celeron Dual-Core Processor J1800 and Intel HD Graphics. This revolutionary 22nm ultra low voltage SoC (System On a Chip) combines superb processing power and advanced HD graphics support in one small, energy-efficient design. Despite its minimal power requirements, it still has the processing power to display the latest DirectX 11 HD graphics. It features support for dual independent displays with resolutions up to 2500x1600.
  • newegg High-Quality 5K-Hour Solid State Capacitors Asus high-quality solid state capacitors assure a 5,000-hour lifespan, equivalent to 2.5 times longer than traditional capacitors. All capacitors pass testing under temperatures as high as 105°C, and meet Japanese industrial standards to provide excellent durability and enhanced thermal capacity.
  • newegg USB 3.0 Boost (UASP Support) Asus USB 3.0 Boost technology supports UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) in Windows 8. With USB 3.0 Boost technology, a USB device's transmission speed is significantly increased up to 170%, adding to the already fast USB 3.0 performance. Asus software automatically accelerates data rates for compatible USB 3.0 peripherals without any user interaction.
  • newegg Network iControl One click to prioritize network traffic for applications you're currently using, or set up favorite profiles to run at specific times. Avoid network congestion, speed up downloading, and make sure online gaming runs optimized, all through an intuitive user interface.
  • newegg AI Suite 3 Asus AI Suite 3 offers a brand-new user experience through a clearer and more attractive interface with support for larger monitors. It consolidates all exclusive Asus features into one simple-to-use package, allowing you to supervise overclocking, energy consumption, fan speeds, voltages, and more. This all-in-one app offers diverse and easy to use functionality, with no need to switch back and forth between different utilities.
  • newegg GreenASUS Motherboards are EU Energy-related Products (ErP) ready, which requires that products meet high efficiency standards with regards to energy consumption. This is in line with the Asus vision of creating environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient products through design and innovation that reduce the carbon footprint of products and thus mitigate the ecological impact.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat HW but deeply flawed bios

Pros: Decent processor, board, good overall hardware. Asus makes quality gear.

Cons: Comes with secure boot that is impossible to turn off in bios. So, good luck installing anything other than Windows or maybe one of the bigger Linux distros if they've decided to pay ransom to Microsoft. Couldn't get bios to recognize SSD until I'd formatted it on another machine. These may seem like small things but it hopelessly hobbles this product as having DYI value.

Other Thoughts: This is the first ASUS product I've been disappointed by. They normally hit it out of the park.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Board for XBMC

Pros: Lower Power Usage
Passively Cooled

Cons: BIOS that shipped on board only supported Windows 8.

Other Thoughts: Had to flash BIOS to load any other OS besides Windows 8. Considering the market this board is targeted at, that is a pretty huge over site. Once flashed it is running like a champ. Silent and cool. Highest CPU temp I've seen is 63 degrees, and that is during software decoding uncompressed 1080P MPEG-4 and DTSHD-MA. Temps run closer to 50 degrees with HW acceleration for video playback.

3 out of 5 eggsAn ok board for intended application(s)

Pros: Build quality, all solid caps, GUI bios, Asus name, packaging.

Cons: I had to reset the bios once already, serial port, slow j1800 Bay Trail processor, requires a 4-pin power connector for the CPU (not the case with the Asrock q1900)

Other Thoughts: Overall, the board is ok. I'm not a fan of the legacy ports. This board, like Gigabyte's GIGABYTE GA-J1800N-D2H becomes easily bottle-necked. Itunes barely runs and some video podcasts must be run from the windows media player because itunes over taxes the j1800-Celeron. Also, web-pages with flash, heavy with images (or high-res) significantly slow performance. I got this board with the expectation of producing and consuming media content through the office suites. It barely accomplishes this. I probably wouldn't mind recommending an Asus board with the J1900, but there doesn't to seem to be one available at the moment. Also, I believe Asrock makes a better board for this market and at a better price-point with modern features (i.e. four USB 3.0 (front/back), Sata3, etc).

If you are looking for a solid board at a similar price point, but much more performance and an even better build quality (more built in safety features-i.e. high-density fabric board), I would recommend the Asrock Q1900. I purchased this board (and the Asus J1800I-C) for about $75. The Asus (because of the J1800 Celeron) is sitting in my closet unused.
