5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board!

Pros: Installed it, posted the first try. Great quality. 11/10 Would ASUS again.

Cons: I/O shield was causing the mobo to not line up with the screw holes properly. Not a big deal. Had to push the motherboard into the shield and while screwing it down.

5 out of 5 eggsAll I need

Pros: Unless you're running 3 GPU's this is all you need. You can safely run two gtx 970's without issue and despite the lower PCIe speed, you wont be missing much... The 5 way optimization works great, use that first, then after use Asus AI Suite 3 to further optimize your pc. Combined, overclocking is easy as pie. I highly recommend NOT doing it yourself. With a good CPU, and turbo boost, you don't need to run at a high clock speed continuously. I'm using an i7-4790K.

Cons: The board does everything you need, but the UEFI bios can be a pain. Not really optimized for keyboard use and my mouse flies around with acceleration I can't change. Some of the options are hidden a bit and don't give great explanations, still, you could look them up online or in the user manual if you aren't lazy

3 out of 5 eggsNewEgg came through, even if ASUS didn't

Pros: The specs. It had everything on the mobo that I wanted. Fit perfectly in my Cooler Master full tower case. Good install instructions. Works well. I wanted something that took advantage of my i7-4790k.

I liked how to mobo is organized. Other than getting creative with how some of the wiring was run throughout the case, everything installed easily onto the motherboard and it was labelled well.

Cons: The first one I got, the ethernet port didn't work. It was around the holidays, and no matter how long I waited, I couldn't get help from ASUS. Finally had enough and returned it to NewEgg and had them send me a new one.

I know it was the holidays, but still disappointed that I couldn't reach ASUS for help. Taking everything apart and waiting for a new mobo ( and cleaning and reinstalling the CPU ) was unpleasant.

ASUS did respond in my other review, but by then I'd lost patience waiting and had RMA'ed with NewEgg.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg's customer service is one of the bigger reasons I shop here, as shown by my problems with my motherboard. ( Had problems with memory too ). Prices are comparable on other sites, but customer service is key.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings Yelena,

I am glad Newegg was able to resolve your issue. How soon after having the issue with your motherboard had you contacted ASUS or posted your review on Newegg? I am unable to find any case related to the name or info provided here. If you would like to discuss this case further, please contact me through email and include your reference number within the subject line. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you had tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Thank you. Cs#N150260941

1 out of 5 eggsMB quality unknown, ASUS has no tech support

Pros: Don't know about any 'Pros.", I can't get the information I need to use their product.

Cons: I need information on how to load drivers so Windows 7 will install.

I tried to send email to their tech support but after filling in a long form when I selected 'Send' a box popped up and said "Cannot be empty!". Went back over the form, everything was filled in. Long story short, I couldn't get past that point so I gave up. ASUS 1, me, 0.

The next day I tried chatting with them. Filled out another long form (and discovered that the most recent version of Windows in the 'select OS' drop down was "Windows NT 4.0". Wow, that's EIGHTEEN YEARS OLD!!! which wasn't encouraging). (And I feel old, I still have a copy I keep for my extensive WIndows collection).

And, sure enough, when I hit "send" this time I got a popup saying "Undefined!" and that ended my second attempt at getting tech support from ASUS. Asus 2, me, 0.

I'll try to send them an old fashioned paper mail message and see if that works but i have my doubts. I'd drive over and visit them if they weren't two thousand miles away. I'm seriously considering seeing if the SBA or maybe the US Federal Trade Commission will be interested in what's clearly a case of false advertising.

Other Thoughts: Never buy anything from this company unless you're really, really positive you won't be needing tech support.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus Z97 PRO Motherboard

Pros: Great motherboard and that comes from over 30 years experience in building/maintaining small and large computer systems. I have only about 4 hours on this build but it went as smooth as silk. Not a single hiccup so far. I loaded Win7 Pro Ultimate x64 and all updates and no burps. Coupled it with an i5-4690K CPU and Corsair 240GB SSD and will get into trying the Asus overclocking tools after I get some burn-in time on the board and I've read through the manual. Also want to install a water cooler before I get into testing it.
Decent board, great features you can read about above and if this one is any indication you should have a problem free build.

Cons: Documentation could be better but this manual is definitely an improvement over other Asus documentation I've had to use in the past. For instance, the Q-Codes digital readout shows "A0" after booting up. This is supposedly normal operation but the manual on pg 1-31 says it's "IDE initialization is started". Ok - does it ever end?

A code of "OK" might be a better representation of system status and an indication that the boot sequence initialization is complete.

Other Thoughts: Cold boots Win7 in 22 seconds.
I have 5 Asus systems (old and new) in my office to include a recent Z87 Sabertooth build with an i7-4790K CPU with Win8.1 - and this one boots faster.

4 out of 5 eggsGood stable board

Pros: 32 GB RAM
HDMI
Number of SATA Ports

Cons: Having to enable/disable the hdd in the boot menu when installing a new OS (Operating System) It's very frustrating to not give you errors when trying to boot a new OS.
(this is the *only* major annoyance with this board.)

Otherwise it is very good and very stable.

Installing a video card disables the onboard graphics.

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this board to other users.

The only reason I give it four eggs rather than five is because of the BIOS boot menu which is terribly designed and implemented hopefully this will be fixed in a future BIOS Update

My Build: (this motherboard) with:
1x NZXT Phantom 530 White ATX Full Tower
1x Intel Core I7-4790K Haswell Quad-Core 4GHZ LGA 1150
2x G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM 2400 (PC3 19200)
1x Corsair SSD 120GB SATA II
1x EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2 GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 FTW
1x ASUS 24X SATA DVD Burner

5 out of 5 eggs????

Pros: Love the board.

Cons: Not sure what I was thinking in the con of my previous review when I typed completable??? :p What I meant to say was I am not sure I am completely happy with the self locking lower clips on the DIMM slots. They seem to work so all is good.

Other Thoughts: I wish reviews could be edited.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Board

Pros: This is my 1st intel build after 5 AMD builds. Everything went smoothly. I like ALMOST everything about this board, solid quality feel, the BIOS was easy to update and navigate. XMP set up my memory perfectly (Corsair CMD16GX3M2A2400C11). Layout works well for my needs. 6 weeks and everything still runs without issues.

Cons: The only con I can think of at this time would have to be that I am not completable with the self locking clip on the lower side of the memory DIMMs. They seem to work so it is probably just the me.

Other Thoughts: I have used ECS, MSI, and Gigabyte boards. So far this ASUS has impressed me.

5 out of 5 eggsDelivers ASUS Quality

Pros: I was a little hesitant to buy this after some of the negative reviews on here, but so far (it's been two months), I've not had a single problem. The board is a joy to use and does everything well. I haven't tinkered with any of the advanced features, but the BIOS is extremely easy to navigate. My first ASUS board, and I would get another based on this experience.

Cons: Not enough to take an egg off for, but the digital readout constantly displays "AO." I googled around and apparently this is a "normal" reading, but the manual really doesn't do a good job of explaining it.
