1 out of 5 eggsRefuses to POST.

Pros: Great features for the price - has pretty much everything you could want or need and a bit more.

Cons: All the features in the world don't mean squat if the darn thing won't work. I got to see the BIOS once - but it refused to work if I had any keyboard installed (PS/2 or USB). Now it just turns on and off alot - leaving me with a black screen and no signs of life beyond spinning fans and an LED light on the board. Very, very frustrating.

Other Thoughts: Just learned that ASUS isn't offering RMA on this board - but returns only.. Not sure why.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good

Pros: It fired up the first time without a hitch. I haven't tested out the second PCIE slot yet, but I don't foresee any issues.

Cons: No PATA connections, but this was my oversight.

Other Thoughts: A lot of reviews for this product are not so positive, this made me super careful during installation but luckily everything is working as it should. No bent pins, ram slots all functional...

I did opt for the extended warranty from Newegg just in case though.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid MotherBoard

Pros: If you need a solid MB and uber overclocking is not your desire, This is the board for you. It is well designed and well put together. I finished my build quickly, posted, and into BIOS with no problems. If installing XP to then upgrade to 7 or 8, set the PCH storage from ahci to ide, and you should have no problem. If you get a blue screen, try pressing f7 when prompted to press f6 for proprietary drivers right at the start.

Cons: none

4 out of 5 eggsRunning like a champ

Pros: It POSTed without issue and seems to be stable so far. I like the visual layout with the UEFI BIOS and the temp and fan monitors in there were a nice touch. I also thought the layout of all the connector positions on the board were well thought out

Cons: The couple of things I didn't care for were where some of the advanced BIOS options reside. They seemed counter intuitive at times.
The other thing was the CPU Fan connector was not close enough to the stock cooler to use it without having to unwind the fan cabling from its management on the cooler so it would reach.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'd say this was a good value... Especially paired with the Devil's Canyon i5 combo that Newegg was running when I bought this.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: this is a great motherboard for first time builders, this was my first build and I have to say it was very very easy to install and the bios are super easy to follow and adjust as need be.

Cons: none as of yet, could of been a little cheaper on price

Other Thoughts: my build

5 out of 5 eggsGood board

Pros: -Easy to install components
-BIOS on startup is very easy to use and intuitive. My mouse actually worked which wasn’t the case in my last build.
-Installation and setup documentation is very thorough

Cons: -None as of yet

Other Thoughts: With my last build I went the “frugal” route and bought a board from a brand that I won’t name but that I will forever recommend people do not buy from. I am very happy on the other hand with my ASUS board and can only say that before you buy any board please read the reviews and consider the reputation of the company.

4 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: The GUI bios is almost overwhelming to talk about... it's incredible. The automatic overclocking feature is hands-down the best feature of the entire board itself as it handles everything you'd need to do to achieve such an insane overclock including voltage adjustment - even though it sets it slightly higher than what I think it should be. Plenty of fan plugs and heatsinks on certain components that need them. Also, an attractive looking board.

Cons: Some of the options in the BIOS need a little bit of playing with to get them to save when it comes to overclocking; that's where the -1 egg comes from.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't buy anything else. I am a believer in the ASUS products.

3 out of 5 eggsBroke without much reason?

Pros: Everything worked together fine, the board has useful LEDS and buttons that assisted in setting up. Clear labelling made installing certain cables a lot easier.

Cons: I've had a Asus mobo in my previous build and that has easily lasted over half a year.
This one, I moved my system around (after rearranging my room) and I just ran into so many problems.
Now my computer won't boot with my GPU and had to clear CMOS to fix it.
Also, the pin releaser thing broke off when I unseated my GPU.
Just seems unreliable overall.

Other Thoughts: ATM I believe it is indeed a mobo issue, but then it could include other reasons (suspecting mainly PSU)

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: ASUS usability. Pretty much all the options you need to do whatever you want. Approaching flagship options with only minor features not included at a substantial discount.

Cons: Bad luck for me maybe, but....

Bought this in June of '14. Within 6 months, the bios failed but I was able to recover and flash back to previous. then the RAID failed completely. BSOD unless i disabled it. Lived with that for a few months then completely failed.
No POST at all. Filed for an RMA. Paid more than $20 to ship it. Waited about 2 weeks to get the replacement. Refurb, of course. Rebuilt the whole system. Red light on CPU indicating a failure. Close inspection looks like some of the pga pins are bent.

Other Thoughts: Bought this and a Intel 4790 when my previous board and VGA card failed. I basically only buy ASUS products. I'm a creature of habit. And I just figure using their VGA cards with their boards is the best way to ensure compatibility.

I pretty much have to use this board as my HTPC is set up. At the price, it's still cheaper than than a complete redesign. So instead of continuing to throw good money after bad, I just ate the loss and purchased a new one. So, basically I'm out a little under $200. I haven't given up on ASUS but the way I got slammed here is a little hard to swallow. Hopefully that's many years worth of bad luck taken care of. So far with the new board it seems that way.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello DJ,

I do apologize that you experienced issues with your motherboard and RMA sir. Had you contacted us after discovering the issue with your replacement? Had you noticed if the issue was present when initially setting up the system? If you would like to discuss this case further, please contact me through email and include your reference number within the subject line. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you had tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Thank you. Cs#N150269398
