2 out of 5 eggsBought a dud

Pros: Good looking board, has all the connections I need, has the capacity for SLI if I choose in the future, great bios.

Cons: The board that I received does not recognize Ethernet cables, having to RMA at my own expense to get a functioning board, will update after RMA proccess is complete.

Other Thoughts: At the price I have to pay to return the item I could just buy a wireless adapter for the same amount and ignore this issue. Very frustrating after having 5 different Asus products ranging from mobos to tablets to monitors and have never had an issue until now.

5 out of 5 eggsWow!

Pros: This motherboard is really cool. Besides the fact that my build started up no problem, the bios is the best bios I've ever seen. Really easy to use, and I am sure an overclocker's dream. It has an 'auto' overclock ability that seems to be good for someone like me who buys overclockable parts but doesn't want to go through the hassle of learning how to do that. ;)

Cons: None that I can see.

5 out of 5 eggsStrong Motherboard!

Pros: Very upgradable! Supports almost any DDR3 RAM Speed, most high end Haswell CPU's and Devil's Canyon, and has great overclocking support! The Z97 was absolutely the way to go for my new i5-4690k! There is every port you could imagine on it as well!

Cons: Wish that this board came with an integrated wifi receiver and bluetooth receiver.

Other Thoughts: It was between this motherboard and a Z87 that would require a bios update for my Devil's Canyon CPU. Definitely made the right choice in upgrading to the newer chipset.

5 out of 5 eggsTHIS BOARD ROCKS

Pros: Teamed it up with 4790k, clicked optimized, and running fast and steady at 4800. Ram is going at 2100 with 9 latency, front side bus at 4000 and temp is in the low 30s. (With a Thermaltake frio OCK cooler)
I'm an online gamer, COD, and this is board with the 4790k is MAJOR upgrade over my 2500k.

Cons: It wasn't free

Other Thoughts: I'm a gamer ... don't let anybody tell you that games don't use all 8 threads. My cpu monitor shows 8 cores and all are working while gaming.

2 out of 5 eggsBIOS defect

Pros: Solid quality
Reasonable price
Easy overclock

Cons: Upgrade to Z97-A because it supports above 4G decoding for my newly bought TESLA card. However, the above 4G decoding never be enabled. Each time I set it to "enable", it will revert to disable after reboot.
The board seems not support this feature at all.
If you want to use advanced GPGPU cards or SLI GPU have large memory, skip ASUS.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great when it posts. The Turbo Boost feature makes sure that I am getting maximum potential from my i7-4790 processor (rated at 3.5ghz boosted up to 3.96ghz with Turbo).

Cons: Motherboard almost always fails to communicate with my video card during post. It takes anywhere between 2-10 tries every time I want to boot for the video to output and rarely outputs on the first try. I am using a GTX 970 by Zotac which should be compatible with this motherboard based on the compatibility checker on PCPartPicker. I've also seen successfully completed builds on that site from individuals who used the same exact combination of my motherboard and video card models. I've tried using the video card on a different slot, installed the latest drivers for the motherboard and the video card, reinstalled my operating system, reseated my other components (CPU, RAM, etc.). Nothing worked. Basically, every time I attempt to boot, the VGA-LED blinks red and stays that way, and that is an indicator that the motherboard failed to communicate with the video card.

Other Thoughts: I contacted ASUS customer support and the person basically told me that the motherboard was incompatible with my video card. Not just my specific video card, but the entire GTX 970 series as a whole. Really? Then how are so many other people getting their builds to work using the same exact components I used? Also, the support agent told me that in order for him to open an RMA for me, I will need to test the video card on a different motherboard to see if it works. I don't even own another motherboard that is compatible with a GTX 970. It's as if ASUS doesn't want to take responsibility of a potentially defective motherboard.

Admittingly, I was skeptical of purchasing this board based on some reviews I've read here, but the low price and general good ratings made me take the leap. Unfortunately, the board failed to meet my expectations. On top of that, customer support has failed to meet my expectations. As a first time customer of an ASUS product, this is a huge red flag, and I will most likely not purchase from them again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I do apologize that you experienced issues with your motherboard and graphics card. If you would like to discuss this case further or an RMA, please contact me through email and include your reference number within the subject line. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you had tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Thank you. Cs#N150147538

Lou

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: Motherboard worked perfectly out of the box. The automatic overclocking worked for both the ram and processor.

Cons: None so far.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent Board - But I think mine is just stubborn

Pros: Got alot of the stuff you want this day and age. Usb 3 no problem, high speed Sata and even sata express with m.2. Good spaces between the cpu and ram slots, fills a case well, convenient switches and LEDs on the board.

Cons: Nit picking here, but I really dislike the I/O shield on this one. All my gigabyte boards had the nice insulated IO shield with foam and stuff, this one on the Asus board has so many dang metal fins poking in all different directions, I had to snip a few off because I couldn't get the motherboard seated comfortably with fins poking everwhere and sliding into the ports.

Mine does this weird thing where it won't POST at all unless you double boot it. So after turning it off for more than a minute, or turning off the powersupply, it won't POST it just hangs indefinitely with the fans going 100%. The LED indicating "CPU" stays on though. But it I hit the reset button on my case it immediately POSTs just fine like nothing happened.

Wut?

Also, the BIOS / UEFI is pretty well laid out, but JUST a little annoying with unconventional response to mouse clicks and the scrolling through menus is un intuitive
