5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid

Pros: Plenty of well documented features that work as specified.
32GB RAM support
4+2 USB3
M.2
6x SATA3
Nice UEFI bios, full of options and tweaks.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Once again Asus delivers a rock solid board. This one replaces a P5QL-E that was heavily used for 7 years with zero issues.

I have long loved their mainstream boards due to their superior stability. This time I chose an H97 chipset because I hadn't intended to overclock, but it seems this board has that capability as well as a slew of other tweaks in it's UEFI BIOS.

I have been playing around with all of the settings and tweaks, everything seems to work great. Awesome fan control for ultra quiet cooling, individual hot plug toggles for each SATA port, for eSATA option. USB emulation options, secure boot key management, all kinds of stuff.. on a mainstream board without crazy expensive bells and whistles that might cause issues.

Reboot time is about 5 seconds on Win8.1 x64

Once again an Asus board is the center of my newest masterpiece computer =)

1 out of 5 eggsTis a sad day for me

Pros: looks nice

Cons: Doesn't post with Gskill Memory I purchased to go with it. The memory is on the QVL that they have. The red LED stays lit the whole time. If I use the same Memory in my other Asus Maximus Z87 Gene VI it boots up with no problems. I tried other Gskill Memory and still Red LED remains. Memory slots are probably just defective on this board. Like other people have mentioned the I/O shield looks cheap. I wish the dimensions for the board were like the Gene board 9.6 x 9.6 this board is 9.6 x 8.8. So it doesn't reach the farthest screw on the motherboard tray. When you apply some pressure to put in the 24pin motherboard power connector the board bends down cause of the fact that its short.

Other Thoughts: Need more quality control this board shouldn't have made it to the customer with defective memory slots.
Was hoping to get this pc shipped out this week......
I didn't want to be the first one to give this board a bad review as all the other reviews for this board are good :(
I have to start the RMA process UGH...

4 out of 5 eggsAsus MB

Pros: The looks of this board are awesome, Its a black/charcoal colored board with the few gold features. It is nicely constructed with a beautiful layout. For a micro board it doesn't let size affect it, with four memory slots, a pci x16 3.0, a pci x16 2.0(x4), and two other pci slots, you have room for expansion. 6 6.0gbs sata ports, and four usb 3.0 ports in the rear. THis board is up to par and is in the ring with the big dog(other motherboards)

Cons: The first thing i would say is a con is the I/O shield, It is suppose to snap into place, but i had a hard time getting it just right, It feels cheep and very flimsy, Would have been nice if they had a nice hard plastic or something a little more durible other then the they ship.

Another issue which i dont have but others might but shouldnt if you know what your getting is the fact it isnt overclockable. But thats not what that H97 is for, That is why you spend 20 mucks more and get the Z97 board.

Other Thoughts: Overall good board with nice design, would recommend it to others looking for a good quality board with all the modern essentials, without the size or price..

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent board!

Pros: good price to performance. nice features. ultra stable. looks nice. this is a great board.

Cons: chipset limits the ram to 1600. the board's qvl has ram for higher speeds, but will only run at 1600. they have this in red lettering on the list, so i am not taking an egg for that. just get a nice pair of sticks from the list and enjoy!

Other Thoughts: I really like this board. i paired it with the i3-4360 and i've had zero problems with this board. fan headers support 3 and 4 pin and has nice installable controller software as well as granular bios fan/temp control for linux/bsd users or if you don't care for the asus stuff. this board is for those that want to just set it up and then get on with your work. since the chipset is somewhat new, firmware updates where frequent at first, but extremely easy to perform. updates have slowed down and the last one was in july.

5 out of 5 eggsNICE INEXPENSIVE MOTHERBOARD

Pros: I like this motherboard for its price, reliability and lack of finickiness. It runs everything I plug into it, including mismatched RAM. I'm running DDR2 and DDR3 memory modules of 2 GB capacity each. It doesn't seem to matter to this fine little mobo. I'm not after performance so much as getting all I can get for my computing dollars and I feel this ASUS product provides it.

Cons: None that I can see as of yet. It doesn't get any easier unless someone built it for me.

Other Thoughts: I really like the software installation package that came with this mobo. I had to buy this board because Gigabyte wouldn't replace a "dog" of a board (Z87-DS3H) they knew was causing problems in the field. There are no complaints and no buggy hassles. It does what it supposed to do, run like a champ.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Motherboard

Pros: Quality Micro-ATX Motherboard
Reasonable Price
Appearance
Performance
Motherboard Utilities

Cons: Could use and additional fan header or two

Other Thoughts: Just assembled a new system using an Intel Core i5-4590 CPU, this motherboard, 8GB of Corsair DDR3 memory, and a Samsung 840 Pro SSD. Put it all together, flipped the power switch and everything just worked. I don't overclock so this H97 motherboard was just what I needed. I'm still adjusting to the UEFI in place of the BIOS I've been used to for 20+ years but it appears to have plenty of settings for those that like to tweak their system (fortunately the manual that came with the motherboard gives a description of the available options).

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Solid

Pros: Overall, it has worked for me. There haven't been any issues with it from an operational standpoint.

Cons: I installed an aftermarket cooling fan, which didn't allow for very much space with the memory sticks. Since memory sticks are pretty expensive right now (and 2, 8GB sticks is more than enough for a computer), I was able to install the sticks with little issue. However, had I purchased 4 sticks (2 sets of 2), I think I would have had a serious problem with the installation.

Other Thoughts: There have been a few comments about the I/O shield. I suppose it isn't the greatest, but it hasn't been an issue for me - nor would it be a legitimate reason for me not to recommend this product.

4 out of 5 eggsGood board for the money

Pros: -Very well-designed UEFI: it's intuitive and easy to navigate.
-Tasteful color scheme. It's not screaming look at me! with bold colors but instead makes good use of black and gold.
-M.2 slot for and SSD. I'm not using one yet to to limited such drives but having it there is good for an eventual upgrade, as it means less wires running to drives.
-FanExpert 2 is a great utility. I can set it to keep the case fans turned off until the computer heats up enough to need them.

Cons: -Only 2 fan headers. At least one more would have been nice.
-A little picky on RAM modules
-Really cheap I/O shield. This is not a barebones kind of motherboard, and a padded shield would have been nice.
-Not much in the way of extras in the box, but at this price point that's to be expected.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board over Z97 because I had no interest in CPU overclocking, especially since the Haswell CPUs are not known for being able to be turned up very much. But you get the quality you'd expect from ASUS, along with an Intel network chip and the shielded audio section on the board that's all the rage these days. This is a great all-around board, and has an elegant look to it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well and looks nice

Pros: First of all the BIOS/UEFI on this board is awesome. It's well designed and organized well. There are options for just about everything and I love ASUS's backup features. AI Suite 3 is also a breeze to use.

Secondly, the board looks very classy. I love the gold, round ASUS heatsink and the color scheme. It's not boring like cheaper boards or as gaudy as some of the Z-series "gaming" options.

Everything works well and my system is stable.

Cons: Installing the I/O shield was a pain because it came with a bunch of bendable clips that don't seem to serve any purpose. I tore them all off.

I also wish it had one more header for a chassis fan.

Lastly, I'm having trouble getting the Realtek sound card to work in Linux, but that's not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: My specs:

- i7-4770
- GTX 750 Ti
- 1x8GB CL9 1600 MHz
- 840 EVO 250GB + WD Blue 1TB
- EVGA 500B
