4 out of 5 eggs Asus h97m after a month of use.

Pros: -Lower power consumption
-Runs decently cool for a mATX board.
- Plays nicely with a Haswell i5.

Cons: -Not great for overclocking (E series.)
- A bit overpriced for the options.
-Will have trouble with 4 sticks of tall ram with some aftermarket coolers.

Other Thoughts: Built a cheap box around this mobo with an i5-4590 and an old GTX 660 for home theater and light TV gaming.
Working solid after hours of stress testing and a month of standard movie watching/games.

If I were to overclock with a Pentium G or K series, I would pass this one up.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Disregarding the fact the board was do, the product was shipped and wrapped well.

Cons: board was doa, in the process of returning. Will update review once it is mounted. Hopefully round 2 gives a better product than the initial.

5 out of 5 eggsVery few compromises considering the price

Pros: - Easy to use UEFI BIOS
- USB 3.0 headers
- M.2 slot accepts both B and M form factor cards and runs in both SATA and PCI Express modes
- Two true PWM case fan headers
- All expansion slots are PCI Express
- Front panel audio ports have no static (and sound fantastic for on-board) once you download the correct drivers from ASUS's site
- On-board sound has enough oomph to properly drive my 120-Ohm studio headphones with plenty of power to spare

Cons:
- Only 4 SATA ports (ports 5 and 6 are reserved for the m.2 slot)
- M.2 slot only runs at 10Gb/s which means it will severely bottleneck a Samsung 950 Pro SSD
- No optical line out

Other Thoughts: Make sure to download the latest Realtek Audio drivers from ASUS for best audio quality.

5 out of 5 eggsHoliday build went south with gigabyte, glad I went with Asus

Pros: This board needs no words, it speaks for itself. Easy setup, easy windows install, easy windows transfer. Has been running stable for about a week now and I have stress tested the system.

Cons: None, actually wait, it could use some boost in the aesthetic department lol

Other Thoughts: Was building a computer for a friend and I used the Gigabyte G1 Z97 board. The board was a mess and the BIOS was probably the deal breaker. Stopped POSTing after 2 weeks, so if it wasn't for the holiday return policy, I'd have a dead board, and a friend who would have been deeply upset. I am thankful for this Asus board, being easy to work with, no bells and whistles to bring it down, just a good quality board that promises years of use.

Reason I mentioned this, because imagine you are in this situation, I was two days from wrapping the computer up, imagine the feeling one of your friends or family members would have had to get a present that doesn't work right off the bat. Exactly, you would be pretty mad too.

I'm not slamming Gigabyte either, I don't need to, the reviews for that board speak for themselves, I'd say 1 in every 3 of those boards are DOA, and it appears that NONE of the boards sold for the holidays were working properly. What a shame.

5 out of 5 eggsGood as the Z97 ! XMP and CPU overclock !

Pros: - Fully compatible with Devil's canyon CPU.
- All bios version are alloying XMP and CPU overclock for K version.

- Testing all BIOS versions :
I was able to OC a non K CPU (i5-4690) to 4.2GHz same as the Z97-pro gamer or Z97-A.

- I5-4690K at 4.5GHz on 1.225v :
Aid64 stress test won't go over 67 degres celsius with a liquid cooler 120mm.
to be able to reach 4.8GHz without blue screen i had to set the voltage to 1.365
which is very good compared to the last motherboard i got from another brand.
Now gaming at 4.5GHz and 3.9GHz cache cuz it's more than enough.

- Awesome UEFI BIOS easy to understand. (similar to Z97 [MaximusHERO])
- Looks very nice black an gold + micro ATX format.
- When i unboxed this H97 for first time,
i recognized a smell of new plastic chips that was same as the Maximus.
The B85 did not.

Cons: - I installed 2x8GB RAM you know the model starting with a B and allistix after, the models with the LED tracers on it...
Well, the LED on the RAM are not lighting on this motherboard.
I got this error message : " Modules with programmable LEDs not detected "
I tested on a H81 mobo from another brand and they worked, i tested on a z97 from another brand and they didn't work.
So i don't know if it's the RAM or the motherboard yet, I RMAd the ram i'm waiting for replacement.

Other Thoughts: After testing many mobos from other brands, i think that Asus is the best choice for endurance + performance.

I still have an ASUS P4c800-e deluxe motherboard with an old Pentium 4 @ 3.0GHz xD
working A1 since 2004.

ASUS is the very rare brand that build both, GPU and motherboard very well.

Cons: right outa the box didnt work so well with the vid card oh well ill just use the intel dont need much any ways wont run through the night with out a crash its a cheap simple board you would think they could get it right. No im not gonna r m a it or send it any place other then a trash can second used worthless board from asus 5th in as manny years. If they cant get it right the first time why would i want to send them back over and over lifes to short to be using asus boards

3 out of 5 eggsAll M.2 is not the same

Pros: Solid motherboard for home and office

Cons: The M.2 card has just two-lanes which greatly reduce speed. This card will only perform about like that of a SATA SSD. To get the blazing speed, you need 4+ lanes on your M.2

Other Thoughts: I went with a GIGABYTE GA-H97M-D3H.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks unless you add a WiFi card

Pros: Legendary Asus build quality and feature set. Love their UEFI. Has everything you might need in a business environment. With a SSD, these things boot Windows 7 before the logo stops swirling.

Cons: I bought two of these for budget Mastercam stations. One of them has to use WiFi, and I could not find a WiFi card that didn't cause blue screens during file transfers. I even used an Asus brand card and moved them around to different slots. Had to swap to the Z97K CSM model to get it stable. I ran hours and hours of diagnostics and everything came back good. Same WiFi cards work fine in any other computer.

Other Thoughts: Would not recommend this one. If it has any sort of stability issue I cross it off my list for good.
