4 out of 5 eggsGreat overall

Pros: Great motherboard. It has really ice wifi, great bios and accesories.
I have a 4690K runing at 4.5ghz for a year now and never had problems. Boots really quickly, really.

Cons: I had a problem with the M.2 socket screw, so i had to use a different one instead.
The afformentioned bluetooth problem.
The wifi antenna cables could use a better design. It's hard to connect to the wifi module and taking the motherboard is also tricky, because it's connected to the I/O shield via the antennas.

Other Thoughts: For some reason it reads the cpu temp wrong under load, but luckily that way I have full controll over my fans.

1 out of 5 eggsYes, only good when it works

Pros: Awesome when it works. I can overclock my 4690K comfortably and reliably.

Cons: Not much but the M.2 That I don't use. on the back is a bad idea.

Other Thoughts: I got the board since 2/10/15, It has been working great out of the box, and today, of July 10. After 2 days of taking of my CPU and RAM to test on my friends machine, now the board will refuse anything plug in DIMM Slot 2. Each of my Corsair set will boot the system ok, run stress test okay on Windows. or any of my friend's set of 4 will work; put 2 RAM in each slot will not work. looping on and off.

So I guess, that's it. I thought it was reliable, but it seems not.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Long,

I am sorry to hear that your motherboard is no longer recognizing your RAM. Are you saying that you tested your ram sticks on your friend's computer and it was recognized? Have you tried trying putting in one stick at a time? Contact me at cl-justin@asus.com and I will help you to the best of my abilities. Your case # for reference is N150728147
Thanks for choosing ASUS

Regards,
Justin

5 out of 5 eggsM.2 can present problems to some users....

Pros: Very solid build. BIOS really has endless configurable options for overclocking, temp monitor, voltage, boot options, etc.

Cons: Not really a con but it does read a temperature malfunction that doesn't exist on the motherboard on most temp sensors Asustek motherboard temp 0 at 115 C.

Other Thoughts: M.2 is located on the bottom of the motherboard presenting a big hassle to user by having to completely remove motherboard from case in order to access it.

Make sure you update your bios to the latest version on asus website, as on the older versions my SSD SATA M.2 did not want to show up as a boot drive in bios. Had to disconnect my hard drive. Shut off computer. Insert SSD. Boot up until it showed up, and only then did I connect my hard drive which enabled me to use SSD as my boot drive and my hard drive as a secondary boot in bios.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Tidy with all the bells and whistles. Performs up to par and still gives more...very good solid product

Cons: Must have patience with installation especially with wifi antennas, that a lone took almost half an hour.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't hesitate to buy it

Pros: Good quality, good packaging
WiFi works great for me
The placement of items on this board I feel is superior to a lot of the other z97 ITX cases.
Updating the BIOS was completely painless.
The options in the BIOS for overclocking and other things are endless.

Cons: This applies for all ASUS boards. The AI Software suite will give you c̶a̶n̶c̶e̶r̶ 2 minute boot times. I recommend only installing parts of it if anything at all. Most of the things the software suite does can be done better with other software or through the BIOS.

Other Thoughts: My build:

i7 4790k, EVGA GTX 980 Reference, 16gb Corsair Vengeance 2400mhz, 2x Crucial BX100 in Raid 0, Seasonic 750w gold, Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect.

Pros: front usb 3, WiFi, M.2 Basically every feature that a high end z97 ATX mobo has in an itx platform. This board was perfect for my RVZ01 build.

Cons: None as of yet. I have only had the board a few days and I have had zero issues. As far as people complaining about the Bluetooth not working correctly, mine works flawlessly. As far as reliability I can only expect the best. I have RMAd a 990fx saber tooth

3 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard, defect one though

Pros: Very nice UEFI software. The Easy Mode is really easy to understand and it lays out all the most common config in one single page (without scrolling)
Performance is great, installation is easy. Didn't run into any issue with cable management.

Cons: Make slight but audible buzz sound when move mouse, even in BIOS!! Definitely seem like a defect, had to remove everything from motherboard to diagnose the source.

Other Thoughts: returned the item

Pros: Nice Size, perceived quality

Cons: Bluetooth is a no-go, just as noted by others. Never have I ever had a problem installing bluetooth.

3 out of 5 eggsBluetooth is completely unusable

Pros: -BIOS Layout/Features
-Slot Support/Performance

Cons: BIOS Flashing (within Windows)
Bluetooth

Other Thoughts: I would've rated this 4-5 stars. I had a slight problem flashing BIOS from boot drive within Windows and got stuck in BIOS asking to reflash with same BIOS file and getting "reading failed!" message. Don't use the flasher utility within Windows, flash BIOS only from the BIOS utility (USB). My main annoyance has been with Bluetooth. I have been at the PC for hours installing and reinstalling drivers to get my devices recognized in Windows. The device shows in Device Manager but as it turns out the range for the bluetooth module on this machine is incredibly poor. I stood with my phone next to the PC case and finally got it to recognize and pair but as soon as I get more than say a few inches from the machine it will be too far to communicate and initiate any kind of connection. It seems to me this could easily be solved with a driver update. The range is pathetic, unusable.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsCamaro Computer Build

Pros: Asus Z97I-Plus Mini ITX is a great board. I have been using Asus motherboards & overclocking for over 20 years.
You need to use compatible memory and have a good power supply for these boards to function properly under load. My currant system is the Camaro Car build- Asus Z97I-Plus, 16G GSKILL 2400 MEM, Plex 256G PCIE SSD drive, Intel 4790k proc @ 4.5G, 2TB 2.5 HD, Laptop Panasonic Blu-ray burner, 500w PICO power supply XBOX USB game controller, wireless headset, wireless Camaro mouse, LG 24inch LED screen. All in a 10th scale Car Model. Asus is an excellent product.

Cons: Not much I was able to customize the motherboard to my projects without any problems. The size is perfect 6.7x6.7 for Bot building.

Other Thoughts: Over the last 5 years I have built STARWARS ATAT computer, LOSTINSPACE computer and now Camaro computer. The mini ITX is the best for these builds. Using high power 300w to 500w PICO power supplies. You can see my STARWARS ATAT - Techpowerup.com (Case Modding. I have used Asus motherboards for all my builds for reliability and gaming power for over 20 years.
