4 out of 5 eggsGood mobo

Pros: It works.

Good selection of video ports (if you want to go with integrated graphics).

Come with WIFI and M.2 port.

Cons: Only 4 SATA ports.

Only 16MB of memory.

The M.2 port is under the motherboard! <facepalm>

Other Thoughts: There are obviously some limitations one has to live with when going for a mini ATX mobo. But the M.2 port under the mobo is just plain stupid. I’m deducting an egg for that.

The clearance between the CPU cooler and memory could be a problem, pick your components carefully. I’m using the Noctua NH-U14S cooler and Mushkin Enhanced Blackline memory. The clearance is just a few millimeters. Memory with extravagant cooling fins would not work in my case.

I'm deducting an egg for the M.2 port under the mobo. Otherwise, I'm satisfied.

1 out of 5 eggsBiggest disappointment

Pros: Wouldn't know

Cons: Decided to take the leap and go for a M.2 SSD Mini ITX gaming box.

Pity the supplied screw won't work. Best of luck finding one that size or getting a hold of ASUS support during the holidays.

Never had ASUS disappoint me so massively.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent board

Pros: A lot of stuff in an ITX form factor

Cons: The small form factor can require some patience when installing everything

Other Thoughts: A few of the connectors were tricky for me, mostly because it's been several years since my last system build. Install as many of the connections as possible before installing your cooler, power supply, graphics card, and hard drive. I forgot to connect the WiFi antenna until everything else was in the case, so that ended up being kind of a pain.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard with excellent WiFi

Pros: The Z97I-PLUS has a great layout the allowed me to fit a giant CPU cooler even with tall RAM. The bios (UEFI) is pretty straight forward and allowed for the XMP overclocking profile for my RAM with one click. Any changes that you make are detailed before you save and exit, so that is a big plus to verify you didn’t accidentally change something while you were in there. The built-in WiFi is also very fast, has excellent range, and a great antenna that can be magnetically attached to your case (It’s on the top of my case in the photos).

Cons: I do have a few minor cons for the board. The wifi connections to the board when you install it are a bit of a pain to snap down and you have to punch out two holes to screw the antenna connectors (did it with a small pair of pliers). The IO shield is also padded, which you think would be a plus but is a pain because the board would not fit completely flush with the case. I managed to get it to fit and the connections are solid but they should have not padded the shield. Last con is that it did not come with motherboard mounting screws (luckily my friend who helped me build it had some in his toolkit).

Other Thoughts: My system:
CPU: i7 4790K
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
Motherboard: ASUS Z97I-PLUS mini-ITX
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8 GB (2x4GB) DDR3 2400

Case Fan: Noctua NF-F12
Keyboard: Logitech G710
Mouse: Logitech G502

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Great little motherboard. Handles my mid/high-end ITX gaming rig with ease. Good color scheme. My PCI-E lever didn't break :P

Cons: Awkward placement for internal connector for front panel audio ports. Fortunately my rig is built in such a way so that you cannot notice the cable stretched out across the middle of the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Graphics Card - Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB VRAM
Processor - Intel Core i5-4690K Devil’s Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz
Memory - 16GB DDR3 Patriot Viper 3 Low Profile
SSD - 512GB Crucial MX100
Motherboard - ASUS Z97I-PLUS LGA 1150 ITX
PSU - EVGA Supernova 750 G2 Fully Modular
Heatsink - Enermax Black Twister
Case - Rosewill Legacy U2-B-Window
Case Fans - Aero Cool DS 120mm Black

1 out of 5 eggsBad drivers set

Pros: Speed.

Cons: Drivers doesn't work. (at least USB)
Product need BIOS update

Other Thoughts: This is the 3rd and last time I ever bought Asus! Prefer Gigabyte!
- Win 7
- i7 4790K 16GB
- Samsung 540 Pro SSD.

The board was shipped with old BIOS that NEED update.
The drivers set (CD or even the Asus support site) simply doesn't allow to make USB interrupt contention to work!

So mouse sometime lag terribly!
OK I use it with an SSD and it doesn't help. But this is normal today to support SSD fast Sata response.

A very bad product! I spent 2 days finding a proper equilibrium for setup.

-> Use it as server or under Linux
NOT A WINDOW machine !!!
(Asus doesn't deliver proper drivers nor even understand the issue)

If you hit this problem this try a PS2 mouse instead of a USB.

Not a Newegg issue. They deliver fast and as expected.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible little guy

Pros: Great UEFI
Attractive design
Built in WiFi
Posted and recognized components out of the box

Cons: Front panel audio connector placement (see other thoughts)
Other than that none, it was a great product and would highly recommend.

Other Thoughts: My only gripe with the board is the fact that the front panel audio connector is located directly underneath the two wifi modules connectors at the back of the board near the I/O panel. Terrible placement and requires me to have a cable running across the mobo. However it doesn't affect anything and is easily overlooked with my gpu sitting next to it, no need to deduct an egg for that.

All in all it is a great board that arrived with no defects. Automatically detected my ram and pushed it to the 1866 Mhz that it was manufactured to run at. Detected that I had a pump attached to the cpu fan header and adjusted accordingly. Also detected that I was using a fan splitter and optimized my fans automatically.
After researching many z97 mini itx boards I settled on this one and am glad I did. Posting right out the box without issues and without a need to mess with too many settings I was impressed. I highly recommend this board to anyone.

Build:
Case: Thermaltake Core V1
CPU: I5-4690k
Memory: G. Skills Sniper 2x4gb 1866 Mhz
Motherboard: Asus Z97I-plus
Storage: 1x Samsung 850 pro 128gb and 1x 1tb WD Caviar Blue
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 Compact
PSU: EVGA Supernova 750w b

5 out of 5 eggsPay Attention

Pros: Nice looking board, feature rich.

Cons: I followed the link on the Z87i Deluxe page announcing "A newer version of this item is available" and didn't double-check the new boards basic features. Therefore, I am now two sata ports short of the six I need. I have only myself to blame but perhaps I can save someone else the headache.

Other Thoughts: I haven't fired this board up, but I've been happy with ASUS in the past.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome board... one issue

Pros: All the features of the Z97 chipset. (google them) Lots of features and power packed into a very small form, but still has excellent connector layout. It has a M.2 connector on the backside of the board, but sadly, this is it's biggest con too.

Cons: The M.2 connector on the back is a PCI-E x2 (Gen 2). Several M.2 SSDs will likely work with this (as storage drives only), but ASUS's M.2 compatibility list is paltry at best. Of the four drives listed, only one can be purchased easily in the U.S. (an Intel unit) but it's speeds are basically the same as a standard SATA SSD. If you want to boot from the M.2 drive, your options are very limited. M.2 is so new that the growing pains are very evident. BIOS updates may fix these issues, but the key word here is "may".
