3 out of 5 eggsSABERTOOTH Z97 MARK2

Pros: Just ok nothing special

Cons: I find this board not as refined as previous ASUS boards I’m having a number of small quirks happening with the USB 3.0 the onboard sound and some processing glitches just weird small stuff. I don’t like the Asmedia USB 3.0 I ask why is it in the board? It just feels like this board was a rush job to me not debugged 100% or thought out clearly I think the 2 ASAP BIOS updates show this clearly.

Other Thoughts: Disappointed with this board all around nothing glaring just not up to the SABERTOOTH quality I expected lots of small glitches.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far

Pros: I found this board to have all the features I wanted and got it in a great combo deal much cheaper than the current price. Board shipped with a May BIOS, 902. Accepted my i5-4690K CPU right off. I find everything works so far.

Cons: I only had issues with the included driver disk. My DVD drive wouldn't read the disk. I just downloaded the drivers and software off ASUS' website.

Other Thoughts: I am using this board with an i5-4690K, Cooler Master Hyper-212 EVO Cooler, 2x8GB G.Skill Sniper Series DDR3-1866 RAM, EVGA GTX 760 4GB GPU, 250GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD for OS, 2 Samsung F3 500GB HDD's for my windows library files and 2 New/old stock Hitachi Desk Star 500GB HDD's in RAID 0 for my games.

2 out of 5 eggsOnly reads 1 stick of ram??

Pros: It works
BIOS is pretty decent and controls tons of fans
Durable

Cons: Two Major Cons:
1. It won't read more than 1 stick of RAM. I know it's not the RAM, because i've tested both seperately with no problems whatsoever. But when I put both in the way I'm supposed to, no POST. It hangs on the Memory Light until i cut the power off. The way the system does its checks is it uses it's lights, so CPU light, then RAM light, then GPU light (can't remember other lights atm) which is cool, but that's how I know it's either the motherboard or the RAM, and the RAM works with the motherboard seperately. :( If i get a working motherboard replacement, I may rate this an egg higher. Don't know if I should get this replace or throw it away and not deal with ASUS motherboards again. Oh and my RAM is 1600MHz. The motherboard reads it as 1333MHz and I can't seem to change this in the BIOS.

2. The WLAN card I bought (also ASUS brand) will not work with this motherboard. Here's what happens (with the 1 stick of RAM mind you):
POST. W7 boots up. And that's it. Not searching for any networks, it's not initialized. Keep in mind i've already done all the updates i can with every piece of hardware that's in my rig. Even after updating the driver for my WLAN card and motherboard, what I do is I plug in the ethernet, (LAN works fine) reinstall drivers, pull out ethernet cable, WLAN card wakes up out of its coma, and then dies again. What are the chances of having a bad motherboard and a bad WLAN card? Not that high, unless they're both ASUS apparently.
(I really think it's just the motherboard.)

RAM: G. Skills Sniper Series GDDR3 1600MHz 16GB (2x8GB)

WLAN Card: ASUS PCE-N15 Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n PCI Express 300/300Mbps

Other Thoughts: The BIOS was really decent and straightforward to use even with me with as little experience I have with computers. The problems I have I can't seem to find other people with the same ones, so I think it was just a fluke. It just upset me that I paid $170 for a half-working motherboard. With the one stick of RAM and Ethernet cable plugged in, I'd have to say this board works really well without burning up. Haven't seen it get past 39 degrees Celsius.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Price,

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with the motherboard. Did you set any XMP profile for your RAM? In addition, did you try the WLAN card in various slots? At your earliest convenience, please contact me through email and provide me with what troubleshooting steps you have tried so far including your reference number within the subject line, and we can discuss this case further. Thank you. Cs#N140710899

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect

Pros: ASUS quality components
Tuff series
Sweet BIOS
USB port layout
No PS/2 port :)
Plenty of great features: BIOS flash, Mem check, etc

Cons: One of the USB 3 headers had a messed up pin

Other Thoughts: Luckily this board has two USB 3 headers, since one had a messed up pin. I should have just sent the board back, but I needed my PC up and running asap. It's a little disappointing though.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Mobo

Pros: Easy install
Easy to navigate bios
First boot up no problem

Cons: The ez wizard overclock in the bios does NOT overclock my unlocked i5. Its a new mobo so hopefully updates will fix it but one click overclocking currently does not work

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Brian,

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with the motherboard sir. Do you still happen to have problems with OC'ing your CPU? At your earliest convenience, please contact me through email and provide me with what troubleshooting steps you have tried so far including your reference number within the subject line, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration and we can discuss this case further. Thank you. Cs#N140718786
