3 out of 5 eggsI have ordered 5 of these - one came with a bent CPU pin

Pros: This motherboard works well with these components:

Intel Core i7-4790K Devil’s Canyon Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 BX80646I74790K Desktop Processor

Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2KIT8G3D1609DS1S00

EVGA 04G-P4-2986-KR GeForce GTX 980 FTW ACX 2.0 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card

Cons: I had one arrive with a bent CPU pin. The symptoms were that only one piece of RAM would work. Having two pieces of RAM would cause a DRAM error and the motherboard would not post, and the red memory light would stay on.

Luckily, we have a microscope, so finding and fixing the pin issue was relatively easy to resolve. After fixing the pin, the motherboard worked properly.

Also, one of the heatsinks on the motherboard was loose. It was a simple fix by snugging up the screw, but this is poor quality control. Not what I would expect from Asus.

Other Thoughts: I noticed a lot of comments on bent CPU socket pins online - that's how I discovered the issue. I experienced this first hand. I don't see how just placing a CPU in the socket would cause this. In my opinion, this would have to have been damaged at the factory.

1 out of 5 eggsBoard won't post

Pros: None yet

Cons: Won't post, got a hold of ASUS and went through every thing. New RAM on board video, No good, lame duck.

Other Thoughts: Been a customer of New Egg for as long as they have been doing business. I hope the replacement board works.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board for adults.

Pros: * If it can be tweaked, this board's bios has a setting for it.
* Excellent integrated system monitoring.
* Excellent integrated fan/pump control.
* No juvenile red and black bios color scheme.
* Robust

Cons: *Audio could be better (but isn't bad). Docked one egg since this board is on the spendy side.

1 out of 5 eggsMotherboard arrived dead

Pros: Didn't have time to actually try this one

Cons: Arrived dead. Tested it with different components and didn't work.

Other Thoughts: I bought this last month and I started putting a new pc together this weekend. Like I mentioned before. I tried different things. Different PSU, different RAM that was working on my current PC. Nothing.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Asus quality!

Pros: As typical with Asus motherboards, there are plenty of overclocking and tweaking options available. The manual is easy to follow, and the included hardware is well thought out (like the motherboard header pin block, which makes connecting the wiring much easier). Solid capacitors, slick UEFI configuration interface, easy to install software.

Cons: Wish it came with a few more SATA cables.

Other Thoughts: I've used Asus and other brand motherboards over the past 20 years, and while others have left me high and dry with blown capacitors and stability issues, Asus has proven to be solid and reliable. This attention to quality is what keeps me coming back as an Asus customer.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: One of the best motherboards for this form factor. Packed with features for mATX. Lots of nice extras. I have purchased 4 of these so far for a demanding business build and they have delivered, so I will continue to build with them.

Cons: Also very expensive for a mATX. It's in the range for the chipset though and that's what you're paying for here.

Other Thoughts: I needed a mATX board with a Z97 and Asus always delivers. This was specifically purchased because of support for the Samsung SM951 AHCI drive. It detects the drive in the BIOS but requires some tweaking for the windows installer to recognize it. In the BIOS under Boot, disable CMS (this may mean installing with the onboard graphics if your video card doesn't support UEFI) and under Secure Boot select "Other OS". Once the install is done you can re-enable these features.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Motherboard so far no issues

Pros: I ordered 3 of them. Each one works great. Plenty of USB ports and digital audio.

Cons: Looks like driver support for Windows 7 X64 is all but forgotten. Most drivers have not been updated in few years. The newest drivers are stable and most of the newest ones are the same ones you will find the CD.

3 out of 5 eggsCheck the Sabertooth price first!

Pros: Similar options to the ASUS Sabertooth! Great performance! Great board for tight spaces and small cases!

Cons: Almost as expensive as the Sabertooth and less options. This board should be $30-$50 less then the Sabertooth and not $3-$10. It would sell a lot more if the price came down.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Have had it 18 days. Seems to be a solid board for what is there.

Cons: New MOBO Arrived with the 20 pin header USB not working. I asked their help/service people about it. They sent me the link to BIOS and Drivers page. Reminded them the the other USB are working and any USB support is contained in windows. They said return it without any help as to what and where that procedure is.

ASUS help and service web pages and instructions could be a lot better. One example is the BIOS download. 8 or so are listed with no indication of which is applicable. Online/email help people are relatively unhelpful and seemingly unknowledgeable.

Other Thoughts: Since it will take ASUS at least 15 days from receipt to ship it back, it could take 20 days to have my (Repaired New) MOBO back, I think I can upgrade those ports to 3.0 for about the same cost as shipping it in for repairs. It could be more feature rich to add WIFI, Blue Tooth,
