The Asus A78M-E delivers the quality, features, and affordability for you to build a budget-friendly AMD Kaveri APU-based system. This motherboard is powered by an AMD A78 FCH (Bolton D3), and accommodates the latest AMD FM2+/FM2 APUs that integrate the powerful Radeon HD Series Graphics. This means you'll enjoy discrete-class graphics acceleration in your games and daily applications, without the cost or power consumption of an actual discrete video card.

This motherboard is built with an array of Asus features that make it stand out immediately. Asus 5X Protection provides all-round protection to achieve the best reliability and durability. The new UEFI BIOS makes system setting and tuning friendlier, easier, and more intuitive. The EPU optimizes power consumption by automatically detecting the CPU loading level, and the Fan Xpert helps your system achieve the perfect balance between cooling and noise with dedicated CPU and case fan controls.  This motherboard also natively supports USB 3.0 and SATA III for you to get the best performance from your devices.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Can't list any. Will not post

Cons: Will not post

Other Thoughts: Board will not post. I've checked everything else with a different board without any issues. I use to think highly of ASUS but the last board I purchased I had to return and bought a different brand. I will try to return this board also...

5 out of 5 eggsA78M builds

Pros: 2 builds. This is about the most ideal budget board out there. Has it all. Don't overbuild it. Combo w/A4-6300APU is about right. 1600 8GBXL gives 6.65 WEI rating avg while Blue500 SATA3 drops in at 5.9 Perfect for SOHO/HTPC. Beats the 3220 I have at work. Runs turbo at 3.95. No, not for gaming. Get the right board, etc for that. Build 1 adds 2x Blue 500SATA3, Creative Xtreme Audio card. Build 2 adds 2x Blue TB SATA3, Sapphire (older) HD6570, Asus tv, Asus Xonar DS 7.1, Asus BRD. Both got the new Bytecc USB 3.0 front hub 3-1/2 bay device which also adds 2x SSD.NB drives. IW BL631 cases can hold 3 drives - now 4 + full optical... they said it couldn't be done. Both cases have 300W PSU which is more than ample. All USB headers used = 6/2.0 + 4/3.0. Added eSATA port on 4th slot cover. 3 slots = enough for "regular people".. X16 v3.0, x1, PCI. HDMI, DVI + VGA?? Board is smaller - only 2 rows of screws NOT 3. Nice change. Leaves more room for cable mgmt. Also added Scythe Shuriken HSF. Tightened up the Plenum for better air intake. AC 80mm PWM side fan. Try this combo - won't be sorry unless you're trying to land jets on a carrier.. for REAL. Then again..they landed on the moon with adding machines, slide rules and scratch paper. I watched it on tv.

Cons: Why 2 PS2 ports? Will NOT melt butter for my eggs Benedict or keep my coffee warm.. not at 32-35C. ONLY 3 audio OB ports - that's why I added sound cards. Come on Gary - give us 6. What's another nickel? 887VB is good enough for most.
Really - NO cons. "Could be's" - all boards have them.

Other Thoughts: If you need 4 mem slots - get the -A version, otherwise identical. Get 8GB. Need more fans? try finding a pigtail header or use AC PWM daisy chain fans. Egg has them. Work great. Build 1 = $500. Build 2 = $675. Encore 5dBi n adapters give the max w/ Startech 5' extensions. Maybe add 120 840 EVO. Can spend almost this much on a quad AM1. Your choice. My ladies will be very happy for years to come. These are well balanced rigs. If you want to OC - one article said 4.6+ on air - not factory, though. I'm good at 3.95, yes, the A4 6300. Drop Mult- bump FSB. QED? bump v. to stabilize at your own risk, but very good as is. Go Asus - you won't be sorry. Go Johnny Football...
