1 out of 5 eggsWorst motherboard I even owned, I had nothing but trouble with this motherboard.

Pros: -

Cons: Too many issues to list from the day one, even with the latest 2001 bios.
-inconsistency in booting, some times wont boot
- memory incompatibility ddr4-3000 doesn't work at the rated speed
Now with the stock speed and voltages motherboard reports 93 C temperature, with corsair H110i water cooling.

-

Other Thoughts: Won't recommend to anyone..

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for sharing your experience with the ASUS RAMPAGE V EXTREME USB/3.1 motherboard. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this experience has caused. Make sure to reseat your CPU reinstall your Watercooler/Heatsink to make sure it's not over-tightened. Tighten the screws until they are moderately snug and the heatsink doesn't wiggle when you gently tug on it. If you haven’t already please Download UEFI version (1801) and extract the file to a fat formatted usb stick. Then navigate in bios to the tools menu and use the EZfld bash utility to do the flash. Let your system update the firmware as needed. Do not power down even if your system sits with a blank screen for 10 minutes or so. When updating your UEFI please make sure to wait for the firmware to update after the board restarts following the flash. This can take a couple of minutes after the board restarts. The board should be left alone during this process. If there is no POST following this process, then it woulde best for you to provide us with your full list of parts for further analysis on QVL parts. You can find the appropriate UEFI BIOS on our ASUS Online Help Desk: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_V_EXTREMEU31/HelpDesk_Download/. If you need further technical information, feel free to contact me at cl-nestor@asus.com using N160438778 as reference to your case.

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable, Switch S States won't wake from S3 won't enter S2 or S3 randomly, clear CMOS is your friend.

Pros: Nothing this is the worst Asus Board I have ever owned

Cons: Required daily Clear CMOS to boot
Won't enter sleep mode
Won't wake from sleep mode when it does enter
Reboots randomly when it does enter sleep mode
To unstable to even try to OC

Other Thoughts: I spared no expense building this and I wish I hadn’t my old Vic 20 was more stable then this will ever be once I recover from my expenses of building this 5k Dung heapI will buy a new Non-Asus board and send this one back to Asus for repair then off to FleaBay it will go.
I purchases memory listed in the QVL this machine is not over clocked it just has too many issues to carry the ROG tag and a $500 dollar price tag.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsOverclocking Greatness!

Pros: Right off you can tell lots of time went into making this board awesome in so many ways. They give you just about anything you can imagine you might need and then some.

Cons: $$$ you get what you pay for in this case.

Other Thoughts: This is not for somebody who just wants to play solitaire on the computer. This thing is for serious enthusiasts and gamers etc....
Soo many tweakables to play with or use the presets...either way this thing looks sexy and performs the same way.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It has a lot of features.

Cons: Boots about every 5th time. Only runs memory at 2133 stock speeds. USB fails on a daily basis. Can't get into BIOS when defaulted because USB isn't available on any port at boot. When you do get in to BIOS most things can't be changed because it will fail to boot. I use the huge fancy BIOS to turn things off mostly and mildly OC because...it won't boot. M.2 was a huge headache. It goes without saying that the OC panel and ALL ASUS software causes blue screens.

Other Thoughts: This is the worst motherboard I have ever bought and have been buying ASUS boards for over 10 years. Save your self hours of frustration and buy something else.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Newegg Customer,

We appreciate the feedback on your ASUS experience. I'm sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing. I see that you are not a Verified Purchaser on Newegg. Where did you purchase the motherboard? Have you already contacted your Place of Purchase for an exchange for a new motherboard? What are your hardware specifications? Is your memory, and power supply all in the qualified vendor list? Please install test your RAM one-by-one in the slot furthest from the CPU to rule out any bad DIMM modules. I would recommend flashing to the latest UEFI build (1801) if the issues persist. If you have any technical inquiries please contact me directly at cl-nestor@asus.com using N160370675 as reference to your case.

2 out of 5 eggsLacking QC on Asus Part

Pros: First of all let me start off by saying that my friends had purchased this board for my birthday, I was always loves Asus and Evga Motherboards, and Owned a Rampage IV BE which worked well.

Cons: Extremely Unstable with Voltages (Specifically the 12v and 3.3v) and plagued with bugs. At first I thought it was the PSU or Extension Cables that I was using, Turns out it was the board. After using what I believed to be a defective PSU and tested the PSU
in an older X79 System, and used another PSU (Corsair AX1500i) with the Rampage V Extreme I quickly realized it's not the PSU, or processor, or the memory or even the Wiring in the house, it's the board itself, . Of course Newegg was great (As always) and I'm sure your well protected since they are a very reputable re-seller and value there customers. However, How does Asus Sell this Top of the Line Motherboard for $500 with these bugs, i'm sure I'll get a general reply back for example "We're sorry that you are experiencing a great deal of inconvenience but we can asure that our technical support is available to help you out" well that doesn't really cut it anymore. I hate how, Asus so quick to market with a product that is incredibly unstable for $500, really Asus? what's even worse is their RMA Department, after receiving my first replacement with thermal compound on the actually CPU Socket Pins I quickly said enough is enough and exchange the board for a different brand.

Other Thoughts: Moral of the Story although Newegg is very supportive, willing to please there clients. Asus just cares about the bottom dollar and cuts costs on the QC aspect of manufacturing their Motherboards, or at least it really seems like from this whole fiasco.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsPrior negative reviews regarding post may be outdated!

Pros: This motherboard has excellent overclocking abilities. The set-up and function of the bios was easy to navigate and made overclocking quick and easy.

After reading the reviews regarding the post time and memory issues this motherboard is receiving, I was worried about my decision, but ultimately purchased the board regardless. I could not be happier with my decision. I have had 0 post issues! 0 ram issues! 0 issues whatsoever!

Cons: Nothing as of yet!

Other Thoughts: If you purchase this board and go with the Samsung 950 Pro NVMe Drive, make sure you download the latest version of the bios onto a flash drive and flash to the new bios prior to installing your OS. I had some difficulty getting Windows 10 to load on the hard drive, but after flashing to the latest bios, Windows went on right away and all my problems disappeared. During the error phase of set-up, the Q-Code I received was d6.

The reviews given to this motherboard regarding the post hangs and failure to boot may be outdated or ASUS has finally fixed the issue with a bios update. Regardless, I have had no issues regarding post time or memory issues. I am using Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 2666 32GB RAM.

5 out of 5 eggsNewegg Prices + Asus ROG Rampage V Extreme usb 3.1 Performance = Match made in heaven.

Pros: The motherboard was very easy to build/setup initial boot went very smooth. This motherboard is packed with options for the enthusiast and the mid level users. I have mine paired with the Intel 5930K Clocked @ 4.4ghz until I switch to a liquid cooling solution, and it has been rock solid. My benchmarks are off the charts with my 2X SLI GTX980 and M.2 Samsung 950 Pro Nvme 512gb SSD. I didnt have any issues at all with this build and I would highly recommend the board to anyone seeking top of the line hardware. The motherboard looks great and feels like a very high quality build.

Cons: The only con I can say about this board is the negative reviews on here. They made it hard for me to pull the trigger on this purchase. I am so glad I did.

Other Thoughts: Intel 5930k @ 4.4Ghz
16 GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 3200 4x4
Samsung NVME 950 Pro M.2 SSD

4 out of 5 eggsNot Sure What All The Fuss is About...

Pros: Was a little worried looking at all of the reviews when I purchased, so I thought I would post my experience with this motherboard to assist those still trying to decide if this product is for them.

Setup - put it all together and flashed the bios with a USB drive with the power connected to the motherboard but the system turned off. Booted the system up first time and straight to bios. Updated fan profile and booted to CD to load windows 7 64bit and in no time had this up and running. Put a cheap air cooler on it until I get the remaining parts for my custom water loop.

Using 32gig (4x8gig) 3000mhz G-Skill Ripjaw ram, and with the press of the XMP button in the bios, everything was recognized and running at the proper speed. I have a Seasonic Platinum 1200W PSU, Samsung 850 pro 1TB SSD and the i7 5930K processor (currently at stock speed until water cooled).

I updated the chipset driver, then the LAN driver, and then the WiFi driver and then installed Kaspersky in that order and will load the remaining software once Windows 7 finishes updating. I will rate this product 5 eggs once I have had some more time using the product, so far so good.

There are a lot of awesome features on this board, respect it and do your research...you will not be disappointed!!!! Looking forward to streaming videos to my big screen and monitoring my CPU stats from my cell phone.

My water cooling loop consists of 2 Black Ice GTX gen 2 420mm rads with a Dual D5 Revo from EK and a 240mm res. I will be cooling the CPU and Motherboard (EK Monoblock) and a GTX 980Ti set up in a Thermaltake Core X9 with custom lighting and custom wiring.

I have been working towards this build for quite some time and this motherboard will provide tons of upgrade flexibility. Please don't let the bad reviews push you away from this product, are there bad boards out there?...sure, it's bound to happen with any product...just do your research and enjoy this motherboard!!!!

Cons: Upgrading from the i7 975 Extreme and an EVGA Classified X58 motherboard, no cons as of yet...just glad that I was able to pull the trigger on this impressive upgrade!

Other Thoughts: Do your research...

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable problematic waste of money

Pros: It looks cool and has tons of usb ports

Cons: This board is pure trash. It worked for 1 week, then one day i had to run to the store so i threw my computer into sleep mode. when i got back i woke it up and it randomly went to a Bf qcode. Ever since then its constantly getting hung up on qcodes 17,19, 79. forcing me to have to reseat the ram. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my ram or any other components. The board is just messed up. After shut down if i dont drain the system of power by shutting off the psu, when i go to turn it back on, the board will display q code 00 and do an infinite boot loop shutting on and off. After doing some extensive research i realized that there are a TON of people having this same issue. Yet not 1 single person can remedy the issue. Not even asus. Avoid this board at all cost.
