1 out of 5 eggsECS does not honor warranty

Pros: none, ecs is a poor company to deal with

Cons: ECS, EliteGroup, did not honor their 3 year warranty after the board died after 2 years. When we called they gave us the run around multiple times. They claimed that no manager was in and they did not have voicemail. Their response time is very poor.

Other Thoughts: ECS, EliteGroup, did not honor their 3 year warranty after the board died after 2 years. When we called they gave us the run around multiple times. They claimed that no manager was in and they did not have voicemail. Their response time is very poor.

1 out of 5 eggsWOW...

Pros: It did work for almost 2 full years.

Cons: It died, and when I say died, I mean completely dead. It took out the CPU and the sata cables with it... apparently the four fans I was running in the case were not enough (no I never overclock cpu's, yes the powersupply has been tested, it was not a surge)

Other Thoughts: Not bad for the money, got a lot of use, out of it, just mad about it.

2 out of 5 eggsUsually works but has some kinks

Pros: Cheap, everything works under Linux.

Cons: BIOS can get messed up by the installation of peripherals, needs CMOS reset. see below for details...

Other Thoughts: Experience after 9 months : after plugging in a $30 video card + switching a hard drive from one SATA port to the other, no more VGA output to the monitor at boot. Nothing.
After the initial panic I found one comment here saying that one has to unplug everything, reset the CMOS and it will boot again - it was true.
I had to unplug all hard drives, DVD burner, one of the two memory modules ( VGA card and TV tuner stayed in place) and then reset CMOS before I finally managed to get it boot again.
Never seen such a thing with the half-dozen other mobos I have used before.
It is cheap, it works, it just needs a CMOS reset sometimes...?!?! Never again budget ECS motherboard for me.

5 out of 5 eggssolid motherboard

Pros: great deal for the price, easy connection, good performance, solid drivers/firmware, 4 SATA connections.

Cons: ide connection is too close to the power connection.

Other Thoughts: This is the 3rd of these MB's I have used. All have been up and running without a glitch. No problems with XP, Vista, and Win 7.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Pretty easy setup and installation.
I liked the features on this motherboard and the options for my future needs.

Cons: I had a minor glitch with setting up my internet connection. I'm not sure it had anthing to do with this motherboard though. It may have been "pilot error".

4 out of 5 eggsHas features I need for work computer

Pros: Correction to my previous post. I found that hitting F11 in the boot up allowed selection of the boot order of my multiple hard drives. After setting the order in this manner, all the drives showed up in the BIOS screen and the unlisted drive showed up in the POST list. I am getting happier all the time.

Cons: Fewer now.

4 out of 5 eggsHas features I need for a work computer

Pros: I bought this specifically for work because I needed an inherent LPT to connect a software dongle, and a reliable serial port to connect data instruments to transfer logged data. Otherwise I would have selected a board with alternate features like dual VGA. It works well with the AMD 9650 CPU and 4GB memory. It has a decent number of USB and SATA connectors. It recognizes a SATA DVD with no problems. The built in analog VGA is acceptable to driver a 24" LCD in a fine resolution, although I added a PCIEx card to allow use of two monitors. The IDE, SATA, and floppy cable connectors are laid out well and do not interfere with the cards. The exterior connectors are laid out well. The board slot and memory connectors are secure.

Cons: The BIOS will boot order by hard drive, CD, removable drive, etc. but it does not allow individual boot ordering of several connected hard drives so with a combination of one SATA system hard drive and two PATA data hard drives it takes time in the boot up to recognize the drive having the OS. Otherwise, it booted in a flash with just the SATA connected. One PATA hard drive does not get recognized and included in the POST drive list but shows up after the boot is done. No IEEE port but I don't have a video camera and don't need it, I would have to install a card otherwise. Using the off button, the system will turn off but the message LED light does not always turn off, maybe I have to check the connections. There are connectors for one CPU fan and just one system fan, I had to connect a second case fan to a power supply cable. I have not found a means in BIOS to adjust memory voltage but that is no hindrance.

Other Thoughts: I have not tried updating the BIOS, this might help with the PATA drive recognition. Once I get software transferred over from an old computer I plan to get another one of these boards to update the older computer chassis.

3 out of 5 eggsOk board with issues

Pros: Cheap
Functional

Cons: DIMM2 slot does not work. I am only able to use my 2gb PC2-5300 module in DIMM1.

Other Thoughts: ECS's site is too difficult to navigate and start a support ticket.
