5 out of 5 eggsGreat board on a budget

Pros: Coming back on this for an update. I upgraded the RAM to 2GB and added a 8600GT video card (video card for $30, thanks Newegg). Got a Vista experience score on CPU and RAM of 4.2, not bad for a board that cost me only $65 with CPU after rebate. HDD was 5.6, Aero graphics 5.9, gaming graphics 5.6. Loaded Vista with no additional drivers needed except video. Everything installed perfectly and automatically.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: How could you go wrong for the price?

4 out of 5 eggsGood Cheap Replacement Board

Pros: Price and performance
built in video
fairly snappy processor--works with XP well
included memory
SATA and Raid
form factor--easy to install
Good built in Audio

Cons: only 1 IDE Bus--Had to add IDE card to run older hard drives.
LAN was hard to configure then stopped working altogether.
Some problems with the drivers on the Motherboard CD
No support on ECS website--Motherboard is not even listed.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this board to replace an old Pentium IV 2.4 board. I spent hours trying to get the LAN to work properly, but finally settled on purchasing a NIC card.

4 out of 5 eggsGREAT COMBO

Pros: This combo worked right out of the box and into a client's Emachines T6216 cabinet. All of the front panel cables plugged into the mobo without having to make modifications. That was a very nice plus.

I'm not an Emachine's fan because of the mobo and processors burnouts they are famous for. So this combo has made a worthless computer work wonderful!

Another positive I would add, Newegg continue to do these tri-combo packages. The low price was great and getting all three is like getting the drink, fry and burger in one deal.

Cons: REALTEK!!!! Sometimes Realtek works well and sometimes it stinks on you.

On this board it did both. I've had Realtek issues good and bad with other brand mobos as well.

The Realtek driver either needs to be improved or replaced! I like Realtek, but when it starts messing with you on a client's computer, then it can make a fan into a foe.

For that I am giving it a 4 egg rate.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat deal

Pros: Great price (even without rebate) for this combo. Obviously not the latest and greatest components, but perfectly functional for basic computing needs on a tight budget. On-board graphics works fine. I'm using the nForce (430) and GeForce drivers from nVidia with no issues. Did not use the included CD.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: If you add more memory, you may have to play with the RAM speed setting in the BIOS. I added a 256 MB stick of OCZ DDR400 I had lying around and had to manually lower RAM clock from 200 to 166 (DDR333) for it to work without errors with the included RAM.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid for the money

Pros: Price is outstanding, considering it includes processor and memory for about the cost of a motherboard alone. Decent video.

Cons: It's a minor point, but why do they bundle 333mhz memory, when the board and manual both say the board standard is 400mhz? I wonder if 400mhz would really work. Of course, the difference would be tiny. As yet, cannot get the ethernet to work - but there was an ethernet card in the old system - so no big deal in the case.

Other Thoughts: Upgraded a friend's system from a 1200mhz Duron (socket A) to this, so the difference is pretty striking. The whole process was very smooth. It's interesting that this is actually a newer product, considering the age of the socket 754 form factor.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This motherboard combo work perfectly. I used it to replce a defective FIC mobo in a friends e-machine. I did install Win XP clean on the PC and I had no problems loading the drivers off the included CD. If needed I would buy this again based on my experience with it so far. Performance benchamarks okay and are within my expectations for a low-end system.

Cons: Motherboard has only been in use for 1-week but so far so good.

Other Thoughts: Nice low cost, bargin solution.

5 out of 5 eggsRefurbished workstation

Pros: Board worked flawlessly with Ubuntu (Hardy Heron). No problem with either onboard LAN or a EDIMAX EW-7128G IEEE 802.11b/g PCI Wireless Card.

Great for web browsing and email.

Cons: Board comes with a security sticker over the CPU and socket, which looks like it would adversely impact heat transfer. Removing it voids the warrantee. I removed it anyway and CPU is at 33C, with CPU fan less than 500 rpm.

Other Thoughts: This is the quietest PC that I ever assembled:
Antec P150 Case
PC Power & Cooling PPCS370X 370W Power Supply
Thermaltake CL-P0373 92mm Enter CPU Cooler (MX-2 Thermal Compound)
EDIMAX EW-7128G IEEE 802.11b/g PCI Wireless Card
1GB PC2700 (333Mhz) Memory
Seagate 80GB Serial ATA drive

5 out of 5 eggsWindows Home Server rig

Pros: Inexpensive setup for Windows Home Server. Installed this Motherboard/CPU combo into an old Antec Sonata case. On-board VGA does carve away from the system RAM. Upgraded the system RAM from 512mb to 2Gb. As said before make nice by ordering a CPU fan. I also ordered the COOLER MASTER DK8-8ID2A-0L-GP 80mm Rifle CPU Cooler, which is relatively quiet.

Cons: Still waiting for the rebate check.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than I was expecting

Pros: This combo turned out better than I expected. The motherboard supports CPU fan control base on temperature, supports DDR400, and a few other minor things. Great price.

Cons: One IDE channel, but I have SATA HDD so it worked out. The "warranty void if removed" sticker was NOT where it is in the pictures. It was actually on the cpu completely with a small portion on the motherboard. I had to void the warrenty by moving this sticker to get a good contact with the CPU and CPU cooler.
