4 out of 5 eggsUnique Board

Pros: This is a cheap board with lots of goodness packed in. I like the dual NICs, embedded CPU, and interesting compact flash slot. Plenty of DB9 serial ports for modems incase you make this a firewall and want some dial-up redundancy.

Cons: There is only one standard size EIDE header so you can have 2 hard drives (great for making this a NAS) or a hard drive and an optical drive. Since this is considered an "industrial motherboard" by ECS there are numerous headers the average user will never use.

Other Thoughts: This is a cheap board that was clearly designed to be integrated into firewalls, NAS's, etc by a third party and then resold. It's anything but your standard cheap motherboard and wouldn't be a great choice to build cheap PCs.

5 out of 5 eggsBest value for fanless, embedded mini-itx.

Pros: This little motherboard is an outstanding value. It is a tight fit in a Morex 3677 because of the CF mounted on the bottom of the board, but I made a couple of 3/16" standoff extensions and used slightly longer M3 metric screws to attach the motherboard to the base so that it fits like a glove. The Morex 3677 has a built in DC-DC power supply and AC adapter, along with room for a 2.5" HD and slim CD. There is a 50mm fan (very quiet) but it is not required with the 600 MHz Celeron M. I have left it on for now because it doesn't bother me.

With 2 10/100 LAN ports this is perfect for building a Firewall/Router/Print Server.
I am using SliTaz Linux (an excellent micro distro) which allows me to "boot-to-ram" so that then entire operating system runs out of ram (which makes it very speedy and very secure).

The Intel Extreme2 Graphics onboard videois more than adequate for watching videos and web surfing, but that is just a bonus to its major function.
5 stars from me.

Cons: NONE.

Other Thoughts: This is the best value for a mini-itx system. Other boards can handle much faster CPUs, but they cannot be run fanless and use much more power. The CPU at 100% load uses less than 12 watts! Get it while you can. These don't appear to have great availability at the moment.
