2 out of 5 eggson-board video is unusable

Pros: Does non-video work well

Cons: On-board video is unusable

Other Thoughts: I ran a Windows Server with this MB for over a year, and it worked well. I changed the box to a Windows 7 machine recently, and it took me a while to realized it was the on-board video that caused frequent BSOD's.

1 out of 5 eggsFF POST Code

Pros: Newegg's customer service

Cons: I read some of the reviews and honestly thought those who were having issues were probably self inflicted. However I was wrong. My mobo, same as other described, arrived DOA. I did a very clean / professional install and immediately recieved the dreaded FF POST Code.

Other Thoughts: I'm glad Newegg is excellent to do business with. I requested a refund RMA and was granted. At the same time I placed an order for a ASUS board as a replacement.

1 out of 5 eggsOverheating NB

Pros: My first review of this board after shortly getting it was a positive review, now after 6 months I have to add this very poor review in hopes that no one else falls victim to this MB. It started with random shutdowns, swapped out all parts, cpu, ram, graphic card onbaord graphic, nic and onbaord nic, you name it I tried it. One thing I noticed was in BIOs under system health, the CPU temp was always 40C regaurdless if I just turned it on or have had it on for hours the CPU temp was always 40C. Ran burnin and noticed that the NB was getting up and over 50C at idle and even higher under load and this is with stock settings, no OC. Removed the NB and applied new thermal paste which knocked it down by 5C but still to hot. Due to the offset design of the NB heatsink you can't just slap a 40mim fan on it, I purchased a 25mm fan and mounted it and it knocked the NB temps down to 35 at idle in BIOs. Cont below-

Cons: Next I added the "Freezer 7 Pro" to the CPU and the temps are a cool 20C at idle and goes up to 47C and the NB temps reach 35C under load but the computer still randomly locks up with a sometimes green or gray screen, just out of the blue and only when playing games like Sims 3 or Crysis type of games. There is something diffently wrong with this MB and buyer beware.

Other Thoughts: Buy at your own risk, I think the user rating on this MB speaks for itself.

5 out of 5 eggsNot just an HTCP motherboard

Pros: I bought this in Jan. of 2010. Put in an AM3 X4 Propus Core, 4 igs of RAM Ripjaw series, an ATI 4870, 1TB WD Hard Drive, Blu Ray Combo Drive, and installed Windows 7 Ultimate. It plays games without a hiccup including the new Shogun Total 2. ECS is a great company, even after Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI have long since dropped driver support for previous motherboards ECS will update theirs for several years.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: ESATA is awesome

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC motherboard

Pros: Great HTPC mb, HDMI out, optical out (surround sound), comes with 4 sata cables (awesome)

Cons: No Core Unlocking Capability

Other Thoughts: I've only had this for a day, but so far, so good. One thing I wanted to mention is that you can O.C. your memory to 1600 mhz if it is capable. It doesn't say that in the specs, but the option is there in the bios to turn the memory clock to 800mhz, and it works with my gskill chips.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far... so good.

Pros: Nice compact design, well labeled and good documentation. Plent of accessories which seem to be of good quality.

Cons: Due to the location of the power supply, I am unable to use the internal SATA connectors as they do not point straight out like other MBs. Luckily I have an external DVD drive which allowed me to load all necessary software.

Other Thoughts: Computer was built w/ an AMD Athon II (my first AMD), 2 GB DDR3, Mini ATX case w/ 160GB PATA HHD. Nice speed, decent graphics and sound. Due to some work-related proprietary software, I have loaded MS Windows XP. As stated, so far, so good.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to install / performs as anticipated

Pros: The board performs exactly as anticipated. I used this for a HTPC build and have been extremely happy. The HDMI output works perfectly while streaming from Netflix and picking up a signal from the TV Tuner card I installed. Easy to install and it came with a boatload of cables.

Cons: None that I can think of. I didn't update the bios because I am afraid it'll screw it up, but so far, so good.

1 out of 5 eggsRebate SCAM...! BEAWARE

Pros: cheap, various features for the price

Cons: $20 rebate did not get any update from ECS.
After mail-in rebate whereas all other rebate has been processed and most completed..
No e-mail update, no way getting status even through their rebate site...I Strongly suspect Rebate SCAM..

Other Thoughts: I wasted my $20 rebate...DO not buy ECS product if you think you will get rebate from them...or any info UPDATE

1 out of 5 eggsComplete fail of Manufacturer Support

Pros: It did work, albeit with some trouble, for about 1 year.

Cons: A failure of one USB port on the rear panel started a month long unresolved issue with ECS tech support. Before buying this improperly designed product be prepared to completely tear down the computer system and reassemble piece by piece to ensure none of your other known working hardware is an issue, because this will be the tech supports first question. Did you completely tear down the system and attempt to diagnose the mother board? Why not suggest test points for my Oscilloscope to determine failure points!

THE REAL TROUBLE EVERY BUYER WILL HAVE is the heat sink on the NB is insufficient and will cause random immediate shutdown of the computer. A failure of any other component rarely causes this problem. In the case of this board it is easy to correct by adding a fan pointed directly at the NB. I have 5 other perfectly reliable comptuers that have shared parts with the subject computer, however, with this ECS MB it is completely unreliable.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately ECS fails to have a standard problem list for the tech support (if I am generous and don't assume it is intentional denial of warranty) so they are unable to provide realistic solutions or an RMA. I am stuck with a failed board and no RMA coming. I have only had one other MB failure and BioStar stood behind the warranty and replaced it. My problem with that machine was resolved. With the ECS machine using this MB I will SCRAP it for an MSI motherboard and go my separate way from ECS. I will never look back at ECS for a MB solution again. Please take this frank warning and DO NOT purchase this board!
