reiterate
- Pros: The board is everything it should be.
Tried eJiffy, eJiffy is a small Linux distro made by ECS that installs from windows as if its an application. The point of it is that if you just want to turn on your PC really quick to do a little web related work you can do so faster by booting into eJiffy rather then Windows. A cool idea but pointless for me because with this Core i5-750 I boot into windows just as fast as eJiffy. BUT it does give a really cool custom boot menu that even has the option to boot into BIOS (no more END key pressing!) and i keep it for its looks, though I wish I could customize the boot menu myself.
Will by from ECS in the future, it's hard being a PC enthusiast on a really tight budget, ECS's product quality and price is perfect for me and most people.
- Cons: Like I said, the only real down fall to this board is the trimmed BIOS.
But don't fool yourself, you can still overclock and tweak all you want. I was easily able
- Other Thoughts: But don't fool yourself, you can still overclock and tweak all you want. I was easily able to get my Ripjaws 1333 RAM to its advertised 7-7-7-21 timings (and even t1 command rate, which is recommended at 2t) with absolutly zero errors or problems. Also I was able to overclock from 2.66 GHz to 3.4 GHz in one boot attempt (though my stock cooler could not take it, but not for long lol)
ALSO, this board is advertised for being a 1333 MHz RAM using DIMS, NOT 1600! Though the BIOS contains the option it does not work because it's not supposed to work! Silly people knocking eggs off for not paying attention, it's right in front of you.
Great board
- Pros: Solid features for the price. My entire build is working excellently.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: There is a hook on the edge of the i5's included fan that hit a part of the board if it was installed that direction. Make sure the hook is towards a clear side.
You get what it says on the tin
- Pros: Board was no harder or easier to install than most motherboards.
It works. It works well. Haven't had any issues with any functionality now that it's up and running. Totally stable system, no audio problems, no noticeable defects.
- Cons: The IDE placement is slightly awkward, but I had a long enough cable.
It came with a helpful manual, and a much less helpful outdated color 'map' to the motherboard. Use the manual.
BIOS messed up the RAM voltage settings, had to manually change it.
- Other Thoughts: This was my first build from motherboard on up. I'm used to working through BIOS-related problems, so I was able to get through the RAM-voltage error, but that was really the only thing I had to change or fix in order to get this guy working. If you're doing a build from scratch, I think you need to assume there will always be one bit to fix. Makes you feel like you're pro.
