1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: Will start up sometimes.
I can send it back.

Cons: BIOS will not save changes. I followed all guidance per ECS and did a CMOS reset and reset default settings for bios prior to changing anything and it would work about 10% of the time. The other 90% it would just not start up and would force you to reset CMOS and start over again.

It is untuneable, unreliable and honestly the worst motherboard that I have ever tried to use.

Also no matter how hard I tried I could not get the memory to operate at anything other than 1333. I have 2400 MHz memory and the XMP profile shows up, but even with manually adjusting voltage and every possible combination of settings you can think of it would never boot back up after a change to the memory no matter how slight.

Also the other comments about ECS not responding to messages or emails is true. I tried to call Andy a couple times from other reviews above and was not surprised to never get a call back. If you buy this you are on your own until it is too late to send it back.

Other Thoughts: If you like wasting time and money this is the board for you. Otherwise it is so poorly executed inside and out that it will be a complete frustration just to get it to do basic tasks. I would have given zero eggs if I could.

2 out of 5 eggsOwned over a year - AVOID!

Pros: Features, especially the ability to have 2 video cards run in PCI-E X 16. Most when you run 2 cards you have to run them in 16/8 or 8/8 but this one has the ability to run 16/16.

Cons: Just a very poor motherboard. Can't be sure if it's this one bad board or these boards are just poorly made/engineered because I have gotten over a year, and in fact can still use the board.

But things don't work right. When running two Nvidia cards in SLI mode, things get weird. The board physically located in PCI-EX16_1 gets labeled the number 2 board in Nvidia software, while the board physically located in PCI-EX16_2 gets labaled number 1. Tried switching them, uninstalling, reinstalling, clean reinstalling Nvidia, etc., always the same. Both cards work, but when my HDMI is located in the board labeled number 2 (physically in the number one slot) I get no BIOS screen, and only get a picture once Windows comes up. When I switch the cable to the card physically located in slot number 2 (labeled number 1), I get BIOS screen, but then no pic when Windows loads.

I have 4X8GB memory sticks. When I put two sticks in, I get 16GB memory recognized. When I put the other two sticks in (replacing the original two), I get 16GB memory recognized. When I put all four sticks in, I STILL get 16GB memory recognized, despite running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

Loses CMOS settings every so often, and then won't reboot. Have to go through the process of loading the default CMOS to get reboots, then go into BIOS and make desired changes. Has happened four times in this year plus.

Front panel setup seems to be wrong. For example, my front panel power LED and HD Busy LED lights always just flash, in unison. Every computer I've ever owned the power LED stays on as long as the computer is on, and the HD Busy light only lights when the HD is, you know, busy. I've checked, double checked, triple checked, and quadruple checked the wiring, and it's right according to the manual as far as positive and negatives are concerned.

Also doesn't recognize on board graphics at times and freezes on boot up. Sometimes when I would troubleshoot and try things with the problems described above regarding video cards, I would remove stuff all the way down to CPU, CPU fan, PSU, and memory and see if things will post. It does at times, and at others it won't because it doesn't recognize graphics display as present. This was explained to me by the beep codes from ECS Support. It has an LED indicator with error codes in the manual (manual that came with the MB didn't have them, had to go online to find them). When it doesn't boot, I get all sorts of different readings on that LED indicator where it freezes. Often it's the same, but quite often I just get different ones.

Purchased two new Nvidia 760 cards to take advantage of the PCI-EX16 3.0 (have been running two 560ti's in SLI mode). Will not boot with either one installed. Don't believe for a second I got two bad cards from EVGA. This board simply won't boot with 760's.

Other Thoughts: All in all, I think I may just purchase a new board rather than RMA this one despite still being under warranty because I think this is just an inferior made board. Have self built several computers, and this is the worst motherboard I've come across. The BIOS is not user friendly and seems... clunky.

No, I'll never buy another ECS product. Still deciding whether to RMA this one or not. Leaning toward going ahead and RMA even if I decide to get another board just so they have to go through the expense. Maybe they'll do a better job of quality control if they have to do this often.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsMeets most of my needs

Pros: 2x pcie slots running x16 was the main reason i bought this mobo, also it being on sale with a rebate.
It looks great with all the gold and black.
I have had no issues with the bios or anything else yet.

Cons: The first pcie slot is blocked by the gold heat sink. This is preventing me from putting my sound card where I want. I have resorted to placing it in the third pciex8 slot, limiting my second slot to x8 also as I am running xfire 7950's. This also forces me to have the sound card very close to the lower gpu, limiting airflow to the second card which is worrisome.

Other Thoughts: I wish I had gone with an asus mobo, but am satisfied with this mobo for my first build.

If i was able to use an extender to move the sound card to a different location I would be very happy with my setup, but have been unable to find a solution that looks clean

1 out of 5 eggsThe board is mostly functional...

Pros: The board seems to work wonderfully in most regards. I haven't had many problems with most of the board.

Cons: Well, there are many things about this board I can't test because it doesn't recognize the keyboard I have (Logitech G510). I am unable to access the bios to select boot devices, set up overclocking, etc. I have spent 6 months trying to get customer support, but after 11 emails without a response, I finally took work off early to call them during their business hours. That was a month ago, and still haven't gotten any semblance of a solution. As of tonight, I'm told I need to update the BIOS before they will look into the problem. However, updating the BIOS requires connecting two jumper pins on the board, but they don't provide the jumper with the board. Once upon a time I would have had those all over the place, but not anymore.

I've never worked with a company with worse tech support than ECS...while I think the product might be great if I could just get it working, it's not worth it.

Just a suggestion, save yourself the stress and don't buy from them.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Customer support, bad board

Pros: Nice looking, slick.

Cons: The bios does not show up when using sli. Overclocking is not showing up in windows. Board is overpriced for how very little it works.

Other Thoughts: Still nice looking. Maybe more useful as a display item.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about your issues. Please contact us. We would like to address your concerns with support. Also we would like to find out more on your specific configuration to look into your SLI issues. Also we would like to find out what CPU is being used and what settings are being used to over clock. 5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding, Great Comeback for ECS!!

Pros: Great features, Easy to overclock a 3770k in (mine is at a modest 4ghz, using the Noctua NH-D14). Easy to understand BIOS, Onboard video will support use of both video ports even if using a video card, driver installation was painless and did not install any "Bloatware".

ALL PCI-E Lanes x16!!!!

AWESOME.

Cons: XMP easiest way to get rated speeds out of memory, and 1/3 of the time, manual override of memory timings will not work, because the RAM timings menu requires you know title and verse, not just the 8-8-8-24, 2T, 1.65v that you would with other comparable boards. One PCI-E x1 blocked by large video cards, but easily bade up for by the PCI-E x1 above PCI-E x16 slot '0'.

Other Thoughts: This motherboard paired with:

Core i-7 3770k (4ghz multiplier OC, +0.100v)
Mushkin Blackline Enhanced CL8 1600mhz 2x4gb
Noctua NH-D14 Push/Pull
WD Velociraptor 150gb
Galaxy Geforce GTX 560 GC Anarchy Edition 2gb
Windows 7 Pro x64
Triple-screen, with two running on the Intel GPU, and one on the GTX 560. :P

3 out of 5 eggsCan be much better

Pros: Good presentation in the package, you will feel like you have something unique, lot of features.

Cons: Many many issues with the bios, they really work perfectioning the bios for this board, I tried several times saving my setting but at the end the board do what she want.

Other Thoughts: After several days I returned this product without get solution, now I have an ASRokc and is totally different the situation

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsPCIe3 2x16 is Impossible

Pros: looks nice

Cons: want one

Other Thoughts: PCIe3 utilization is determined by the CPU not the motherboard, and the limits of an Intel 22nm 1155 CPU is 1x16 or 2x8, so the claim this ECS makes that two GPU cards can run at 16GB/sec each is irresponsible marketing that NewEgg should not allow to dupe it's customers with.

Manufacturer Response:

This motherboard utilizes a PLX PEX 8747 chip which provides an added 16 lanes for a total of 32 PCIe lanes. So while it is true the an Ivy Bridge alone, you would only be able to use the configurations you have specified, the Z77H2-AX (1.0) with the PEX chip and the added PCIe lanes, can go beyond this limitation and provide you with a 1x16, 2x16 or 1x16 + 2x8 configuration.

If you do have any questions or concerns regarding this or any other ECS product we are here to help. We do our best to ensure what specifications listed are correct.

5 out of 5 eggsBOTM winner using ECS Golden

Pros: Using the ECS Golden was a simple choice.
It was a Stable Card, highly reviewed, recommended and had the looks for our Purple Heart tribute for PCS4VETS charity.
The Board ran flawlessy, easily cooled and was the center piece to our respectfully done tribute to Wounded Warriors.

Cons: Add an additional USB header preferably USB3.

2 out of 5 eggshorrible tech support

Pros: worked great, cool features

Cons: when adding a sata controller card to any x16 slot didnt work, until using z77h2-a2x bios, but usb 3.0 doesnt work. calling tech support was no help even with the logic that the wrong bios makes it work and the correct one doesn't, saying "not our problem","why do you need more sata ports"and "good luck"
