1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT buy this board!

Pros: Easy to set up, and if you only use it to surf the internet it's a great inexpensive board.

Cons: Can't add a stand alone video card, even one specified by their own website. The system won't boot up with said video card plugged in, so there's no dualing or crossfiring video cards regardless of the the box or their site says. My bios isn't upgrade-able either apparently. I have a support request in for both issues, one of which is over 2 weeks old with no response what so ever and the other with no response in over a week.

Other Thoughts: I never expected to be able to run skyrim or fallout without adding a standalone video card, but I did expect to be able to add a video card so that I could run them on atleast the minimal settings.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsdoa

Pros: none yet

Cons: First board DOA. Second board memory only works in slots 2 and 4. Tried to install windows 7 but cannot get the USB ports to work with mouse and keyboard. The front USB ports work once windows starts, but am stuck in an endless loop because I cannot use the mouse or keyboard when asked questions.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issues you experienced with your motherboards. Prior to shipping from our factory, all motherboards are tested to ensure that they are working properly. The chances of a DOA issue occuring on two consecutive motherboards are quite low. With your set up are you using more than 2 memories? As is stated in the manual for 2 memories they should be installed in slots 2 and 4 for best performance and compatibility. For you USB mouse and keyboard issues, if you haven't already, can you try the USB 2.0 ports, prior to installing the OS and drivers. The USB 2.0 are the red color ports.

If you continue to have issues, please contact us as we would like to find out more about your configuration and help find a solution.

4 out of 5 eggsECS A85F2-A DELUXE ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Has all of the things I was looking for in a FM2 Motherboard. A host of ports. Easy layout as this was my first PC build ever and the Bios area was easy to follow. Windows 8 compatible and looks nice.

Cons: Two of my USB 2.0 ports on this MB do not work. If I plug my optical mouse in, it lights up (flashes) but then goes out but stays lit and works on all other ports. Not a biggie since it come with 4 other ports (two more 2.0's and twp 3.0s) and my case has two more usb 3.0 ports. Just wold have been nice to have a fully 100% working board.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the feedback and we are sorry to hear about your USB issues. Please contact us so we can find out which USB 2.0 ports are not working and work with you to find a possible solution.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard...

Pros: Motherboard arrived in pristine condition, not a scratch on it--looked like it was just printed.

BIOS setup utility is kinda neat. It allows the use of a mouse.

Cons: Almost all the manufacturer utilities simply link to ECS' website, one of them links to a dead area of their site, the other to a download page where the links are absolute file paths on someone's computer...I had to manually recreate the path based on educated guesses--being that I do web development for a living...that shouldn't be a requirement for the consumers of this product.

The only other issue I'm having is that the onboard GPU doesn't register in windows 7 when another GPU is installed in one of the PCI-E slots. This is kind of an important thing for me, in that I intended to use the onboard GPU for display and the others I have installed for other applications. It is also a big deal if I wanted to connect two displays.

I just submitted a tech support request to ECS, but with how clunky the BIOS setup utility feels (not to mention the lack of control and verbosity) and the messy driver installation, I'm not holding my breath. I'd appreciate it if they'd help me to resolve this issue.

1 out of 5 eggsNot as described

Pros: The box is very attracting, but it's a trap. Gold caps, more cool air.

Cons: Lots of CONS:
The box specifically says SATA 3.0gb/s.
BSOD first run.
Underclocked ram: 1600mhz to 1333mhz.
Board feels flimsy.
After opening the box I see many white spots on the back of the board and a tiny scratch.
5 Voltage regulators while every FM2 motherboards have 8-10 regulators.

FM2 socket was loose, I mean LOOSE.

It bent several of my a10 5800k pins but I managed to fix it.

Other Thoughts: I suggest staying away from this motherboard. This my first experience using an ESC motherboard. I REALLY regret buying this motherboard from an upgrade MSI a75ma-E35. Do yourself a favor and get the MSI FM2-A85XA-G65 or other FM2 motherboards.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issues and concerns you have had with your motherboard.

The box does mention SATA 3.0 but this is in reference to the SATA revision not the transfer speed. We apologize for the confusion it caused. Unfortunatley BSODs can also be caused by physical hardware faults, such as faulty RAM memory or power supplies, overheating of components, or hardware which is run beyond its specification limits. Without specific information it can be hard to determine. Some memory will underclock to improve compatibilty. Normally the memory frequency can be adjusted in the CMOS setup.

If you have questions or concerns regarding these issues please do contact us.

Also, thank you for your feedback. It is appreciated. We need your feedback in order to improve the quality of our products and service.

5 out of 5 eggsLooks good

Pros: Gold caps = more cooling. More USB 3 ports than MSI FM2-A85XA-G65.

Cons: Every motherboard has their own cons. This motherboard has 5 audio channels while most FM2 motherboards have 6.

Other Thoughts: I had a hard decision by choosing this or the MSI FM2-A85XA-G65. The MSI FM2-A85XA-G65 is mainly for overclockers + it's very stylish and a bit more expensive. Nonetheless, I think both of the boards are mainly the same due to A85X. Hopefully I will be enjoying this motherboard over the MSI and HOPEFULLY I have made the right decision in buying this motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Compatible with everything I ordered to put in it (though that's beside the point). Onboard RAID controller works for my RAID 1 array. Drivers were easily accessible from the ECS website (some were required to install Windows 7 after my RAID was set up in BIOS). Fairly resilient in terms of manufacturing; I bumped it here and there and accidentally touched a few things without my antistatic strap on, but no damage from what I can tell.

Cons: The SATA ports for your internal devices are set to come off the side. This makes them point toward the front of your case, in the opposite direction of the I/O panel. Because of this, SATA cables are more difficult to plug in than with other mobo's I've used which had ports facing the side of the case (that is, directly up at you if you lean the PC on its side to work on it).

Other Thoughts: As part of my first build, I have:

- This A85F2-A motherboard
- G.SKILL Sniper Low Voltage 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 RAM
- AMD A4-5300 Trinity 3.4GHz Dual-Core APU
- GIGABYTE GeForce GT 430 (Fermi) 2GB VGA

I've had no issues so far, not even with HDDs or peripherals. I chose this motherboard primarily for cost as it's my first build.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Mobo

Pros: Looks great, seems to be of high quality components.

Cons: What a headache to use. Since the day I built my PC I knew this mobo was trash. I installed windows 8 on it and had problems right away. After installing the drivers on the disk every time I rebooted Windows 8 it would not boot and have to try a repair(had to reinstall windows every time). After a few hours ended up finding out that the chipset driver damaged my Windows 8 install. Downloaded newest drivers from site and still same problem. Ended up reading on the ECS site that the Win 8 chipset needs a WIN 8 compatible bios to be flashed. I went to the download page that it had linked for the win 8 compatible bios and all it says is coming soon...(been like that since I first saw it on the 7th) Have been running my PC without the chipset driver since I cant do anything to fix it. After I tried overclocking, The bios on it had no overclocking options for the most part. Installed the latest bios(not the win 8 one that says coming soon) and was able to get overclocking options. Thought I was set. This stupid mobo does not read the cpu temps of my A10 5800k right at all. Read it at around 70c at idle which is the limit for the CPU(read up to 90c using prime95). I am using artic silver and the stock amd fan. The heatsink was cool to the touch. Stayed at stock for this reason so could not overclock. After a day I said to hell with it and overclocked to 4.2ghz and it ran perfect(4.2 is the turbo speed of this APU so it will run it perfect even with stock cooler and does not even need a voltage change). Expect now that I try to set the bios to default and even after it shows default options and I save them and reboot in Windows my CPU is still overclocked to 4.2ghz. I can not get it to stock no matter how many times I clear the bios/cmos. During my overclocking I tried overclocking the APU's GPU and setting the North Bridge voltage higher. After rebooting the setting would stay but not at the voltage I set it to. The board would undervolt from were I left it even when in the bios it still shows my option being the selected one. I would set to around 1.3 volts and it would be running at around 1.2. Stupid! So I set that back to defualt, lucky at least that worked back to default. After all this I can not get the CPU to run at default clocks anymore even when clearing cmos. Then another problem. Even though newegg and the support page for this product say it can run ram at 2400mhz(OC) it does not. I placed my 2400mhz ram in the mobo and the bios has no option for 2400. Only 2133 and then 2600. Skips 2400mhz entirely. Had to underclock ram to 2133mhz and manually set timing. This company really really has a lot of work to do on fixing this model. The Bios is trash and the updated win 8 compatible bios is no where to be seen. Very sad from a company saying on the site how awesome the product is and how it is Win 8 compatible. At first I thought this was a steal for the built quality and features but it is useless garbage.

Other Thoughts: I wish I could return this to Newegg and exchange this for any other board that at least works with the drivers and bios. Sadly I don't have the money to ship this back nor the time to wait for an RMA and then having to buy something else and wait for that item(especially since its about a week from christmas and I know it will take forever). It is my only option to keep this scrap. I will forever be sure to not buy this brand, or get any main computer components from Newegg ever again. I advice no one buy this board til I can come back and say all problems have been fixed in a bios update.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issues you have experienced so far. Please contact us so we can address your concerns.

For you reference, we have been informed that the latest BIOS on the website (11/14/2012) fully supports Windows 8. The Win 8 micro site and BIOS release description will be updated. With our testing here we did not experience the issues you are describing with the chipset drivers from our website.

An updated BIOS to address the memory speed is being tested and will be released soon.

For your temperature issues, we would like to find out how you are getting these readings. Some third party software will use the thermal sensor from the CPU but some of these applications have issues with the APUs and report inaccurate readings.

When contacting us, you can refer to case #ECD12121710013
