3 out of 5 eggsThe heart for a DYI emulator HTPC

Pros: I was looking for a small, all-inclusive motherboard that had all the necessary ports & connections on-board. Due to the size of the case I was working with (an 8-bit NES shell) this board met all of the component requirements, plus included a few extras like wi-fi.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Cool running, stable board. Additionally, it came with a mail-in rebate (which I received almost immediately). Couldn't be happier.

1 out of 5 eggsNo 64 bit support? really?

Pros: I'd like to list some things here, but so far I haven't been able to get it to boot the (64 bit) OS disk I was migrating over from my older machine that this was meant to replace.

Cons: If the board has a chip that is listed on Intel's site as supporting 64 bit instructions, it really should mention that that support has been disabled by the motherboard manufacturer in the product specs. Whether this is a Newegg issue or an ECS one, I'm not really sure, but this past hour playing "why won't my new PC boot my definitely working hard drive" has really been pretty annoying. Now the goog has informed me that some motherboard manufacturers disable 64 bit. Thanks ECS / Newegg for sharing this information before I bought this board.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately this has been a project sitting on a shelf for over a month waiting for me to find the time to do the migration... so looks like I'm stuck with obsolete hardware.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your installation. Unfortunately the issue with 64 bit OS is related to the Intel GMA 3600 display device on the D2550. Intel has not released any 64 bit drivers for the GMA 3600. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

4 out of 5 eggsStable, inexpensive board for HTPC

Pros: Small form factor, great warranty, low power consumption and just about everything you might need onboard.

Cons: None really come to mind.

Other Thoughts: <rant>I really wish motherboard vendors would finally remove legacy components/connectors from their boards. Aside from the size issues, it's about time they do away with these types of connectors. It took eons for them to ditch the bus mouse interface. </rant>

4 out of 5 eggsseems good

Pros: good price for microATX + D2550

my first microATX, and it is nearly of the same size of itx.

Cons: It works only on win7 32bit, I have not tried others, but it seems that linux does not support the video card..

Other Thoughts: It uses 204 pin laptop memory not the 240 pin desktop memory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your feedback. It is appreciated. We need your feedback in order to improve the quality of our products and service.
The support memory type has been corrected in the specifications.
