5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: A good motherboard with lots of features. 4 memory slots. Lots of USB ports.

Cons: Bios setup somewhat tricky. Sensitive to memory module timing setup (If not autodetected, you will have a long hard time to figure out the correct numbers) Realtek NIC setup might be tricky since Windows cannot find it automatically.

Other Thoughts: Very good for building up a multi-core server with 32Gb+ memory. I am running Phenom II X6 and the CPU actually does nothing. No onboard video but can put two PCI-E Video cards at the same time --- Good for having more than two monitors at the same time.

5 out of 5 eggs5 Ghz Overclock with ECS A970M-A and FX 4130

Pros: Very Stable, Cool running and Overclock friendly board with less money spent. Board's VRM runs amazingly cool. Max temp under load is about 60C. I believe this board has 6+1 Phase design VRM where as other cheap ones has 3+1 or 4+1.

Cons: The bios is bit finicky, some patience is needed.

Multiplier clocking does not work with Phenom II Black edition CPUs, it works only with FX CPUs.

Board unnecessarily Over volts both CPU and memory, default voltage applied by the board is 1.47v on the CPU (FX 4130) (spec volts is 1.35v non-turbo and 1.4v on turbo, yeah I turned off turbo) and 1.58 on the memory (spec volts is 1.5).

NB gets bit hot.

PCI-E 16X slots are too close

May be Picky on Ram.

Other Thoughts: Recently this board went on sale, after rebate $18 including taxes and free shipping. Installed the board with a spare Phenom II 720BE and it booted right away but had some stability issues. Later found that board is picky about RAM, it didn't like the spare OCZ DDR3 1600 Ram I had. Changed to Corsair XMS 1600 and no issues.

Just for fun wanted to see how far the board can OC, so bought a OEM FX-4130 ($40 from my local store). With big tower cooling and decent PSU I was able to clock the CPU to 5 Ghz with 1.72v. That is massive for a cheap board. For daily use the chip runs at 4.6 Ghz. Games runs flawless with a Sapphire 7870 2GB video card.

Nice to have: Front USB 3.0 headers. BTW the USB 3.0 transfer speed is very good.

Overall very underrated board.

I love this board, wicked fast.

The Machine:
ECS A970M-A Deluxe
FX 4130 @ 4.6 Ghz
4GB Corsair XMS Ram
Sapphire 7870 2GB Video card

5 out of 5 eggsCant complain, everything works

Pros: Cheap and i mean cheap, i got this board for $14.99 after mail in rebate, everything works, plugged an AMD FX-6350 in and some DDR3 1800 ram with a cheap graphics card and pushed the power button and BAM everything works and works well, how can people complain about a MB that cost $20 or less let alone complain about overclocking it, if it works at OEM settings you got your moneys worth. If you expected more, spend more, that's the simple math of life!

Note: this board does have overclock ability but nothing great

Cons: The ADS shield is a gimmick and one fell off after the board heated up (they are attached with double sided tape) and made with pop can aluminum, I took it off and it works just fine.

Other Thoughts: for $15 bucks i should have bought 2, you cant get a lot these days for $15 let alone a motherboard with these features

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Installed smoothly, over clocked an AMD 4100 to 4.5 ghz, ran Skyrim on ultra high settings on a 40 inch tv, ran smoothly, cpu temps were borderline but acceptable at 60c. Used a cooler master. Video card is a sapphire r7 240. AMD catalyst control center permitted easy overclocking without the need to monkey with the bios.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Best bang for the buck purchase I've ever made.

5 out of 5 eggsgood budget mobo

Pros: i bought it for $25 after discount/rebate.

I can't complain at that price... bios recognized my memory profiles. everything works.

Don't expect to Overclock much on this... but quite a good value for a sub $500 build.

Cons: bios had some weird designs... especially in changing the boot orders. Not the standard buttons that are used in most bios

1 out of 5 eggsECS A970M-A

Pros: Newegg shipped fast

Cons: The Board was DOA. I'm a system Builder, & I purchased this board because it was compatible with my 2133Mhz RAM. I was Building my 8 core tower part by part, & now it is over the 30 days. I have to pay for shipping to RMA, & I'm not going to trust ECS in the future.

Other Thoughts: ECS must have many returns to not offer a return shipping label, even when requested.

2 out of 5 eggsif it cheap buy and hope it works

Pros: when it works it run great and drivers auto installed with win7

Cons: first one failed with in first day after abut 8-10 reboots (windows update required) it stopped booting, no video no beeps nothing, reset cmos jumper, still nothing. RMA'd

When doing mail in rebate you have to record your serial number, on their site it states the serial starts with one letter and a string of number.. well no where on the upc code is there a number that matches those criteria so after scowering the MB I find they placed the serial number on the bottom of the last (bottom) pci slot... so you must remove the MB from the case to see it.... come to find out it starts with TWO letters and IS shown on the upc but not stated as SN: so I could have saved a lot of time if the website number 1: was faster than displaying one page per minute 2: showed and described their newer SN formula and 3:placed the Serial numbers where they can be seen AFTER installation.

and their support site is horrifically SLOW
I think they place the SN where you can find it and don't mark it as a serial number on the upc box is to stop you from doing mail in rebates and their site being slow to make you want to contact support, cause when I say slow I literally clicked a button and took a leak and got back before the page came up and I'm on 20+Mbps speed cable.

Other Thoughts: got my replacement and it booted up fine.
As a company I don't think I will be doing any more business with them.
after rebate only paying twenty or so I'll be fine replacing it with a better brand when it crashes and I do mean WHEN not if.

And Newegg needs to start allowing picture uploads for reviews and not just video.

2 out of 5 eggs970 chipset, super budget board

Pros: -cheap board
-2X PCI-e slots
-4x DDR3 ram slots

Cons: -will not save changed bios settings no matter what you do even with most recent bios update 05/2013.
-for a 970 chipset this board has very limited overclocking ability (too bad i wasnt able to test it). you can not change the fsb only the multiplier. also you can't undervolt, only overvolt by set increments that are fixed.

Other Thoughts: returning this board. my ASUS Plus budget board had better overclocking ability and was able to change the bio settings

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Inexpensive quality motherboard

Pros: Inexpensive
Tons of expansion slots
Great for overclocking

Cons: Very confusing manual fan control settings
Memory clocks only up to 1866

Other Thoughts: I was able to run an FX-6300 at 4.4GHz with the stock cooling and 100% Prime 95 load.
Mother board was capable up to 4.6GHz during normal gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsNot a bad board for the basics

Pros: Works
It was twenty bucks after rebate

Cons: UEFI / CSM bugs (minor and solvable)
It looks awful
Lacking control and sensible feedback in UEFI config interface
"ADS" dust shield idea seems retawded

Other Thoughts: Works well with Win7 and FX6300 - even with 4 sticks of PC3-8500 populated.
Don't expect to overclock...the options just aren't really there.
Had to fiddle with settings to let OS use all memory - it was seen but not usable at first.
Not having problems others describe. Runs cool and stable.
I can't fault it for the price paid.

FYI: Newegg doesn't allow the word "retawded." A bit sensitive, are we?
