3 out of 5 eggsOverall good with one annoying bug

Pros: Great little low power motherboard. Bought it to replace mb in my freenas system. Good connectivity and worked well out of the box.

Cons: For some reason it does not support 64 bit instructions. (I know about the window graphic driver problem, this is not that) The cpu: Atom D2550 supports 64bit instructions and it is listed as such in the BIOS. However neither linux nor freebsd will install in 64 bit flavors. I get error messages that 64 bit instructions aren't supported. Not sure if it's a BIOS thing or what? Very annoying as I was expecting this board to support x86-64 based off the cpu.

Other Thoughts: The specs list a 10/100 nic with an optional gigabit controller. The board I received had a gigabit nic built in. Happy about that!

5 out of 5 eggsYes, it has the D2550 CPU

Pros: Low power consumption. Mine is running at about 30 watts, which in a 24/7 video surveillance application, will pay for itself in energy savings alone in about 10 month over the 7 year old 90 watt system it replaced.

It takes 204-pin SO-DIMM module, which means I was able to take the memory and 2.5" HDD I had laying around from upgrading my laptop, and make a decent system.

Cons: No HDMI output.

It is NOT 100% metal caps. Mix of metal and electrolytic capacitors means it might suffer a premature death from the dreaded leaking capacitor issue.

Other Thoughts: Newegg description says D2500 cpu but as the model name implies, it does in fact have the D2550 cpu. This is huge because D2550 supports hyper-threading so it will run 4 concurrent processes. Very cool!

Pros: the printer port works great for cnc operations, it a really powerful little board

Cons: had 1 die after a week had one doa... dont bother with neweggs ups label option for rma its a waste of time you cant print the labels

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your motherboard. Prior to shipping from our factory, all motherboards are tested to ensure that they are working properly. A DOA issue can be caused by any of the main components, including memory, power supply and motherboard. If possible we would recommend testing the motherboard in the following fashion.

Place on a flat non static surface. Test with only one memory at a time and reseat memory. Ensure that the 24 pin connections is connected from the power supply. Connect the power button from the case or short the power pins (6 and 8) to power on the system. If still have any issues or questions, please contact us and we can work with you to find a solution.

I or any of my team members here at technical support will be able to help you.
Our hours are Mon-Fri 9am-6pm PST.

Thank you,
Andy
