4 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: solid cap design. Good customer support

Cons: Be careful with the bios update

Other Thoughts: Update to my previous negative review. Yes, I was a bit upset about a non-working board after a bios update. I sent it back to ECS, and they cleared it and installed the bios. I paid the shipping of 9.00 to them. ITX boards are light and small for shipping.

Turnaround time was fast Their support dept is much better than it used to be. .Now, should they pay all shipping costs for a board under warranty? maybe so. I doubt if any brand of board pays all shipping costs..

Anyway, this board is great, as long as you understand it does not have all the features you might want.

5 out of 5 eggsRuns 24/7

Pros: I never turn this thing off and haven't had a hick up. Currently running Mavericks without issue on a i3 2100.

Cons: None really other than the fact that they used a double usb header and covered it because the chipset can't support that many.

Other Thoughts: How can you beat $35?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board!

Pros: I have purchased close to 100 of these boards. We use them for all of our builds. They are rock solid.

Cons: No true con. The only con I find is the foul up in the manual regarding hooking up the front panel and USB. I have informed ECS of this and they are aware. Probably just have to get through the initial batch.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little ITX motherboard

Pros: Lots of features for the price, small FF, easy to install and to get running

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Bought three of these motherboards for use in building very small form factor PCs. All have been trouble free to install and configure. Using with lower end CPUs and the performance is more than adequate. Overall, it is hard to find a better deal on an ITX motherboard than this one even with it being an 1155 socket board.

1 out of 5 eggsBricked by the Bios Update

Pros: build quality is pretty decent

Cons: Tried to update the bios within Windows 7. Not my favorite thing to do. Looked like it was going OK, it restarted, then nothing. It went blank on the monitor. I spoke with tech support and tried the boot block recovery method they suggested. Nothing. It's not worth 20.00 for me in shipping cost to send it back to them when I paid 36.00 for it.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issue you have had with your BIOS update. If you continue to have issues or still require an RMA please feel to contact us and we will follow up with your previous case and help ensure it is proceeding as it should.

I or any of my team members here at technical support will be able to help you.
Our hours are Mon-Fri 9am-6pm PST.

1 out of 5 eggsMotherboard shorted on me

Pros: n/a

Cons: Finally got things together this past week. Right off the bat. I had a red RAM LED that I could not get rid of... tried varies setups when breadboarding. Different PSU and inserting the RAM in different slots, and also insured that the CPU was seated properly multiple times. No beep for POST when booting up. But I did have VIDEO. Was told to try and install windows anyways.

windows installed fine, but the red led on the mobo never went away. now I think my board may have shorted when I tried to plug in an external USB hard drive. As I plugged in my external hard drive, my computer shut down immediately and not won't boot up.

5 out of 5 eggsReal Value

Pros: For a Mini-ITX board, has almost everything a person could want, especially for the $37 I'd paid for it. I was drawn to the 5 audio and 3 video outputs. Using a Celeron G1610, it performed okay for watching streaming music videos. 100% functionality. Added a Radeon HD 7790 in case of a desire to play CounterStrike on Steam again. Also, added that card for better video quality at HD. Comes with all SATA cables for the 4 ports. It runs cool with stock Intel fan/heat-sink.

Cons: I/O shield covers 2 rear USB ports.

Manual is inaccurate in at least 2 ways (Front panel connector photo and another photo shows miniPCI connector mid-board near rear-ports. It is actually at the top edge. Not much clearance between it and the power supply, so not an issue for cases with bottom PSU mounting.

Other Thoughts: It's only USB 2.0 and PCI-Express 2.0 compliant with BIOS as-is. Believe I tested with 2 monitors for on-board connector. Almost positive it will not run 3 monitors at once, where many main-boards will not either. That would require a hefty GPU which means it would have been a much more expensive item.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard.

Pros: It's a great little board.

*Has HDMI
*UEFI BIOS
*6(8) USB - See Other Thoughts
*Windows 8 support
*PCI x16 slot

Cons: None as far as I can tell, but I guess time will tell.

Other Thoughts: On the I/O shield there aren't any punch outs for the two USB above the HDMI port. You can even see it that way in the picture. I didn't think it was a big enough deal to take an egg of though.

4 out of 5 eggsHTPC

Pros: -Great for simple HTPC builds
-Supports 1600Mhz RAM with 3rd gen CPUs.
-DVI, VGA, HDMI and Optical audio output.
-UEFI BIOS.
-Plenty of USB

Cons: - Issues with BIOS version, but fixable (See other thoughts)
- The IO bracket shield doesn't have the two usb ports punched out above the HDMI port. (its also shown this way in the photo)..Not really an big issue but why would this go unnoticed with quality control?

Other Thoughts: This is my first ECS board and bought as a splurge item to go with a spare i3-3225. Its main use was to be an HTPC build and spare computer. I'm pretty satisfied with it so far, but not without some initial troubleshooting.

The board behaved strangely which I eventually solved with an upgraded BIOS:

It refused to output to a PCIe graphics card when the HDMI cable was plugged into it. There was no HDD activity or signs of it booting upon power up. I was able to "trick" it to boot and use the graphics card only if I didn't have the HDMI cable plugged in and this only happened with cold boots. Weird.

I then flashed the BIOS to the most current version. The UEFI BIOS layout had completely changed and it was for the better. After that my graphics card worked on a cold boot each and every time. Has been running stable for over a month now. Not bad for $35 as part of a sale.

RAM 2x2GB @1600Mhz by Gskill
GPU HIS Iceq Radeon HD 4670
HDD WD Blue 2.5" 320GB (Storage)
SSD Intel 320 80GB (OS)
Windows 7 64

2 out of 5 eggsDead RAM slot

Pros: Cheap

Cons: One of the RAM slot was dead out of the box. Tried with various working RAM from other PCs in the defective slot and the board will not boot up. It boots up for 2 sec and restarts. Indefinite looping till I removed the RAM from the defective slot.

Other Thoughts: Not worth the shipping fee for warranty. Will keep the board and double up the capacity of the memory stick in the working slot.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the memory issues you are having. Prior to shipping from our factory, all motherboards are tested to ensure that they are working properly. For this issue we would recommend the following if you haven't already tried. Reseat the CPU, to help ensure that CPU and the socket pins are making proper contact. When reseating, inspect the socket for any bent/misaligned pins. Check the memory slot in question for any bent pins.

Remove the motherboard from the case, with only CPU, CPU fan, memory and power supply connected. Place on a flat non static surface.

If you continue to have issues, please feel free to contact us. We would like to work with you in finding a solution.

I or any of my team members here at technical support will be able to help you.
