3 out of 5 eggsCheap But Functional

Pros: -It motherboards.

Cons: -The I/O shield is the most flimsy piece of foil that could have been used. It barely functions.
-The Front Panel Connector ports don't come with the usual quality of life adapter to make plugging them in, easier.
-Overall cheap quality.

Other Thoughts: This is a bottom of the barrel board... it will function, but it's cheap, and you feel like you are going to break it when you plug things into the I/O. Unfortunately Motherboards are one of the very few places on a PC where you try to shave cost. DON'T! Remember... every other piece of hardware on your PC gets plugged into this piece.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple, elegant, no-nonsense win!

Pros: Works well with FX-6350.Clocked my RAM from 1866 to 2133, and the OC'd the CPU from 3.9 (4.2)Mhz to a nice 4.4 (4.8)Mhz on air.
Board doesn't have heat problems, the heatsinks are not fancy, but they are sturdy. NB hasn't gotten over 65* which is impressive comparred to any other boards in this category This is partly due to the fact that the sinks have fins in the same direction, which makes air-flow easy over the board, and to the top-rear exit.
Bios is a lil funky, but not too difficult. I can see that ECS has some preset values to Volts and Mhz that are unexpected, but when I started to get the feel for it, can clearly see its good stuff!

Cons: The CPU volts are always +x, no -x volts, and the Volt additions start @150mv and incresing values of 50mv (200mv, 250mv, 300mv...) which can be a bit of a minus to overclockers that rely on the on heavy CPU multipliers, with the desire to nudge off every number possible.

Board also doesn't come with boobie tassles, which i would have liked to wear when I hit power on, and the CPU indicator, LED rainbow started lighting up the case *groans uncomfortably*

Other Thoughts: Works well for FX, just be sure to keep it 125W (board only supports 140W and under), and you will have no prob getting 5Ghz

5 out of 5 eggsYes please

Pros: Works out of the box with FX 8320 and I'm guessing 8350's
Great price!
Bios is easy to navigate
What feels like a thousand USB 2's, and they throw in USB 3 just to be kind to you.
Comes with a built in speaker so you can hear any post beeps.
Has most of the bells and whistles the more expensive 990 boards have, but is actually affordable

Cons: No USB 3 front header, but I knew that before I bought it so whatever.

Other Thoughts: Used this is my first build, and so far it has performed admirably.
Make sure you install the front header lights and buttons BEFORE YOU PUT THE MB IN THE CASE, or you will hop on that struggle bus and ride it for at least 40 minutes.
Other than that, great buy and I am fully satisfied. ECS seems to be a much less talk about brand, but to get a good 990FX board for this price is quite fantastic.

5 out of 5 eggsgood stuff

Pros: big board with 3 x PCIE 16
Booted right up with my outdated Rana 445 at right voltage and GHz
very fast mobo, got it on sale with 2x4GB of team vulcan for 122 and really can't complain at all
windows 8 booted right up and updated all drivers and that's coming from
MSI 785-E63, a ddr2 based mobo

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: awesome deal and service from eggheads as usual

1 out of 5 eggsBad BIOS

Pros: Not a bad layout, Extended length 8pin CPU power plug makes install easier. Nice layout and not a bad color scheme. The biggest Pro, I purchased from Am4zon (is apparently a curse word on newegg reviews, lol so had to change spelling) for $42.07 so I'm not out much.

Cons: The BIOS. Plain and simple, is unfinished. There hasn't been a BIOS update since release and many features are broken/don't work. For instance if exiting from the EZ Boot menu and choosing save and reset, does nothing except present some graphical glitch which I assume is supposed to be a a confirmation window of sorts? Phenom II CPU does not have multiplier option and detects wrong default CPU voltage causing extra heat and power draw. FX 8320 may or may not POST after multiplier overclocking. None of the voltages show correctly in monitoring software, not even sure If I trust the BIOS information.

Other Thoughts: I don't guess it would be to bad of a board if 1) you get lucky and your OC option work correctly 2) you don't want to overclock. 3) ECS will actually step up and release and functional BIOS Please, if you own this board contact ECS about your BIOS issues and see if we can get a BIOS update that works. ECS rep (if you read/reply to this) stress to the higher ups about firmware updates and fixing long standing issues, even from early revision boards. The TechpoweUup review (earlier revision) notified ECS about some of the problem and never received a response.

3 out of 5 eggsno multiplier OC option with 965 be

Pros: OCed memory to rated spec of 1600 and 9-9-9-24.
Nice looking board.
No problems using usb mouse and keyboard next to the ps2 port.
seems very stable so far.

Cons: will not give any multiplier option to OC a 965 BE

Other Thoughts: out of all the MBs I've bought . This is the first time the bios limited ANY chance of an OC. Learned my lesson here about generic grade equipment

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard

Pros: this motherboard is great for the price, did not have to flash bios when booting with my FX6350 cpu, loaded it with 8gb of 1600mhz ram and a HD6850 and it is just peachy.

Cons: no usb 3.0 header, that is all I can really think of.

Other Thoughts: I have had this motherboard since june of 2013 and it is running great, it keeps my FX6350 at 4.5ghz daily and up as high as 5.0ghz with all cores running, also I tested it with 3 GTX 480 graphics cards and it did not miss a beat. can recomend this motherboard 100%

I bought it from another e-tailer because it was cheaper at that time.

also don't overclock unless you have an aftermarket cpu cooler and make sure the heat sinks get plenty of airflow.

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for your buck.

Pros: price, design, layout, quality and solid construction, bios, usb3, sata3, 990fx. good heatsinks, various led indicators, good audio with optical out, dual gigabit lan.

Cons: The power led light pins are in a 2 pin only configuration, and my case uses a 3 pin connector and does not work with this motherboard. I could modify my connector, or I could just leave it off and conserve energy and night time light pollution. Maybe this belongs in the Pros list. :)

Other Thoughts: Standoff holes aligned perfectly for me. I did NOT need a ps2 keyboard ever during installation.

I like how this board uses no-nonsense heatsinks instead of the typical weird looking ones. Good job elevating that 8 pin connector, too. I feel comfortable knowing that the heatsinks were not designed for visual appeal, but rather simply for performance.

The manual shows 3 different configurations for 2 sticks of ram. Maybe this is intended so that if one configuration does not work for whatever reason, then maybe another one will, but they don't specify which would be optimal. Maybe there truly isn't an optimal configuration. ECS?

I like the bios, but I didn't dig the GUI interface. Good thing a simple [Esc] button took me to the more traditional interface. That said, it doesn't have the polish that you find in the more expensive boards but it does still look like it offers all the options that overclockers wish to have.

Anyways, good job ECS. It seems obvious to me that with this board it was intended to cut out some of the expensive fluff like hdmi, esata, display port and a slew of gadgets, remotes, cables and accessories that makes one feel like it's Christmas time when they open the box type stuff that not everyone will need, to keep the price down, yet still deliver a board worthy of a high end system - and they nailed it. I bought this for a budget system, but I would not hesitate to put it in a high end one.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice board

Pros: For the price you can not go wrong with this board . Easy to setup and over clock. This is the third board in my new build and I am very happy with it. And I want to thank Newegg for their superior service on this one. I ordered it like 5:30 pm on Tuesday and I had the board in my hands the following day with their 3 day shipping < 5 eggs for you Newegg

Cons: None so far and it is more better than I thought would get for the price..

Other Thoughts: Hats off for Newegg the best in customer service..

1 out of 5 eggsFailed within 12 hours.

Pros: Cheap for a 990FX board.
Good layout of PCIE x16 slots, none of that three right next to each other and can't fit a double sized card and use all of them that you see sometimes.

Cons: Exploded, belched reaking smoke, ceased working within a day.

Other Thoughts: Exploded in less than a day. I had set up and used my machine normally with zero issue. Gaming performance was real good, even CPU intense stuff went great. A few hours before work, I thought I'd fire up prime95 while monitoring the temps, to see how quickly it spikes and how the water block that came with the fx-9370 performs.
Not 5 minutes in, my computer started wretching pink smoke and shut itself off. Horrified, but curious, I popped off the panel and powered it up for just a second to see the source; northbridge.
I pulled the board, wasting all the time I'd spent getting the water cooler situated which of course had to be removed to get the board out, and take a look; I didn't have any loose metal, or an accidentally unneeded motherboard stand. Nothing near the problem spot... it simply overheated, melted the plastic pin holding down the northbridge heatsink, and destroyed itself from there.

For me, that's horrible. I know a single incident of failure isn't proof of a low quality product, but what if this had happened a month from now, when I couldn't RMA with newegg? DOA, that happens. But quick failure scares me and leads me to fear a company does not use high enough quality parts for me to want to purchase from them. I want something that will likely outlive it's warranty.... and in the future, I will not be going with ECS. Fortunately, my components otherwise appear to be undamaged, but the jury is out on the FX processor.... I'm really, REALLY hoping that's undamaged.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issues you experienced. Unfortunately, this motherboard has only been qualified with processors up to 125W TDP. The 220W FX-9730 is not supported by this motherboard. Using such a CPU can cause heat issue not only for the processor but also the VRM and chipset. You can find the CPU support list for this motherboard at the ECS product page for this motherboard.

If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.

I or any of my team members here at technical support will be able to help you.
Our hours are Mon-Fri 9am-6pm PST.
