5 out of 5 eggsGreat on a budget

Pros: Threw down an FX-8320E and this thing runs great, even supports a bit of overclocking (at least up to the boost spec).

Cons: Doesn't match my black/red color scheme?

Other Thoughts: Purchased this for ~$20ish as a shellshocker deal a while back, waited quite some time for other hardware sales, finally finished this rig after I snagged some good deals during black friday.

$300 gaming rig runs games such as BF4/Crysis 3 and newer title games at high/ultra settings 1080p. Just goes to show what a little waiting will get you on a budget.

5 out of 5 eggsupdate: BIOS allows 512MB for video

Pros: This is an update to an earlier review. With the current BIOS, up to 512 meg of memory can be pushed into the on-board graphics. Still not as good as the 1 gig you can allocate on other Radeon 3000 systems, but it's enough for HTPC duty.

So... on board HDMI at a dirt cheap price.

Cons: No USB3. Ultra small size leaves room for only 2 expansion slots and 4 SATA ports. If you need more slots or more than 512MB video RAM, buy a different board.

Other Thoughts: Good choice for a home theater PC - on board HDMI doesn't get cheaper than this. Add a vid capture card and maybe a USB3 card in the expansion slots, and you're all set.

3 out of 5 eggsHDMI issues

Pros: Everything seem to fit. Not sure how you use and PCI with my power supply, but good news for me, I don't need any. Get a micro PS if you have needs.
I'm using it as an HTPC and I think it will eventually work just fine. It just took me a very long time to make HDMI audio work.

Cons: I couldn't get the HDMI audio to work using the provided drivers. I finally had to search. I found VGA_Win3264_12AM and it updated the Audio device driver and all worked.

All the drivers provided are old. The EC site lists all the driver dates that come on the CD. I found new 2014 Realtek and Audio Device current drivers and they are working so far. If I have no further problems, then I could see raising the stars.

Other Thoughts: I got a kick out of the Utilities software tool called eDLU. It is suppose to check for current drivers. After installing the program it appears to be just a link to the EC web site's list of old drivers. All the drivers on the list are the ones that come with the install CD. I would have thought it would check my drivers and check for more current ones. Maybe even confirm that I installed all the drivers pertinent to my machine. it doesn't.

4 out of 5 eggsEconomical

Pros: Bought this when my power supply went and took my old board with it. Just replaced it with this and a new pwr. supply and it worked right away without a hitch. Didn't even have to re-install windows. I can't say much bad about this board so far.

Cons: An IDE connection would have been nice for my dvd lightscribe burner.

4 out of 5 eggsLimited, but good for the price tag

Pros: HDMI. Dirt cheap price. Playing nicely with Linux (I'm using it with various flavors of Puppy Linux. No crashes or other issues, and it's on 24/7.)

Cons: No USB3. Can't change the memory allocated to the on-board video. It's set at 256 MB - if that's not enough, use a different board. It's limited by its small (it's tiny even for a mATX) size - only two card slots and four SATA connections.

Other Thoughts: Looks like a BIOS upgrade would help. It's definitely not for overclocking or gaming.

For HTPC, this is the cheapest board you can get with built in HDMI. I just wish I could pour more of the RAM into the video. Using a separate vid card would defeat the purpose of on-board HDMI, not to mention taking up one of the only two available expansion slots.

5 out of 5 eggsSlow boot up.

Pros: It boots up and runs my AMD Phenom II x3 720 BE with Kingston Value 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) 7.6 rating from Win7 and 5.5 for the ram.

Cons: This thing has a Slow boot. It will sit on the Bios screen for about 15 second before it will start the windows load screen. I didn't see anything in the BIOS for fast boot. :( BIOS is straight forward easy to understand for the new learners of Mother Boards.

3 out of 5 eggsclaims of core unlocking misleading

Pros: No driver issues in any Debian based flavor of Linux tried.

Cons: Not all of these boards support core unlocking.

Other Thoughts: "ECS "Unlock ” technology provides stable unlocking of hidden cores" - Not on my board. The option does not exist. It's stated on the website and in the documentation of the MB, but it's simply not there.

I never bought an AMD thinking I was getting something for nothing with the possibility of unlocking cores. For me it's more of science experiment, does it unlock? is it stable? if so cool, if not, nothing lost.

The fact that the manufacturer states "ECS "Unlock ” technology provides stable unlocking of hidden cores" is blatantly false. It's not always a sure thing with this board. After I update the BIOS, maybe the option will be there, maybe not; either way, it's false advertising.

Tried unlocking the CPU I was using with this board, on my OLD Gigabyte, and it did.

ECS: don't make blanket statements about a product when in some cases it a flat out falsehood.

2 out of 5 eggsEh.

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: FX8320 8 core with aftermarket cooler, Prime95'd for about 20 minutes and blew the 12V rail on the motherboard. Won't power on unless the 4pin 12V is unplugged, whenever I plug that in (while the motherboard is powered) it sparks and the power supply cuts off (overcurrent protection).

Had this happen across many 760G motherboards. Two MSI's and now an ECS. They tend to fry the CPU with it (it did on the two MSI's), don't have a spare AM3+ motherboard to test the CPU so I can't say for sure. Wouldn't be surprised though, same symptoms as the MSI's when they fried (FX8320 and FX8120 with aftermarket coolers, popped a few minutes with Prime95 and won't boot unless 12V is unplugged)

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry oabout the issue you have experienced. If you haven't already, please contact us. We would like to find out more about your system configuration and provide an RMA if necessary.

5 out of 5 eggsA960M-MV(1.0A)

Pros: Had a bunch of parts lying around just needed a motherboard that would accommodate a Regor 250, DDR 3 1866 RAM and an old 6670 this works very well plays Diablo III and Windows Media Center/HD Homerun TV with no problems....

Cons: could use just one more fan header but I'm running the fans directly off the free power supply I got form Newegg a couple years ago....

Other Thoughts: this is a straight forward no frills MOBO works great for what I needed....
