1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: none so far

Cons: Defective mother board. I finally get all the parts I needed to get it started and only one Ram slot works and none of the PCIE slot works. Not even the 32gig msata drive works on it. I can get it to boot but what's the point if I can't use anything? Not a happy customer. It gets a 1 star.

I'm only running Intel I3 dual core, 7600 nvidia, 4 gigs ddr3 ram and a 600 watt PSU. Nothing special. Everything is brand new as well.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from cheap mother boards. lesson learned.
Don't waste your money.

4 out of 5 eggsupdating my previous review

Pros: Fast
Doc had a good diagnostic diagram that helped me figure out why it would not power up. Otherwise the doc is pretty standard.

Cons: No screws for the ssd that came as a freebe. It is a small size. When it fits in the case the front part of the mb will bend down when you're trying to plug in the power supply cable. You need to put your finger under it to support it while you push the power cable in. One of the memory slots is close to the cpu so be careful in choosing cooling. The sata ports face forward instead of upward from the board. That can cause problems in tight cases. My case it pretty large and it was still no fun plugging in the hard drives. I ordered some shorter cables to deal with it.

Other Thoughts: I got it to power up finally. Turns out it wasn't the power to the cpu. It was one of the usb cables not plugging into the onboard usb 2.0 header correctly. That plug isn't standard size anyway. Once I disconnected it Viola. I loaded the drivers and after many reboots it is working great. After the bios initializes I'm at the login screen in 8 seconds. Norton 360 does a quick scan in just a few seconds. I do have a SSD as the main drive, a 64 gig ssd as the paging file and 2400 cas 10 memory. Loading applications is almost instantaneous. Correcting pictures is so fast you dont' think that it was done. I have never built or worked on a computer this fast before. I have an i5 4670k in it and haven't overclocked it yet. Can't wait until I have enough time to do that.

All that being said, I have only had it running one day now. So, I cannot tell how long it will last or if I'll have future problems with it. But I can tell you that it's working fine and fast.

3 out of 5 eggsRan into a snag

Pros: SSD came with it as a freebe.

I'd like to be able to give some pro's but since I haven't gotten it powered up yet, I can't.

Cons: I haven't gotten it to power up yet. I finally figured out that the 8 pin cpu power supply line from my power supply is not plugging all the way in to the 4 pin cpu power socket. There is a small electrical component right next to the 4 pin socket that is in the way and won't let the 8 pin seat all the way down. I'm trying to find a 4 pin male that will attach to either an 8 pin Male or to a 4 pin molex now before my 30 days to return the board is up and I haven't determined if the board it bad or it was just the cpu power supply line.

Another con was that the ssd did not come with the screws needed to screw it down firmly on the motherboard. The screws are an odd size that I haven't been able to find yet.

Other Thoughts: I've built 29 computers since my first xt machine. This is the first time I couldn't get the MB powered up.

I'll correct this review if I get it powered up.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent low price overclocker

Pros: I got this when is was on sale $79.99 + $5.67 shipping
and with a free msata 32gb ssd ( about 29gb of actaully storage, meaning the 3gb is used for better safety )
The board itself was nicely designed, the added cardboard box over the dust shield and antistatic foam really gives you a feeling of quality and care. pcb is a dark green color and is pretty sturdy. The ATX board fits perfectly in my Rosewill blackhawk mid, all the MOBO screw holes lined up with the pre installed standoffs. The bios is really simple to use the uefi is nice being able to switch to legacy is a bonus. The one USB 3.0 jumper lets me take full advantage of my usb 3.0 ports in the front.

Cons: -----not much of a con---- but the msata did not include the 2 little screws, but hey i have build quite a few computers so i got an assortment of random screw that worked.

Other Thoughts: i am using and corsair H100 cooler and yes it fits lga 1150 but the backplate kinda takes a little time to adjust, cause the the socket mount has a plate in the back that gets in the way.
----This is my first Intel build----
-i7 4770K turbo to 4.4ghz( i cant figure how to keep it 4.4 all the time, when i disable turbo it just goes from 3.5-4.4ghz)
16gb ram 1600mhz
sapphire hd 7850
samsung 830(64gb) and 840(250gb)
western digital 1tb
psu rosewill 750w hive 80%bronze( a plus is the bios automatically disabled c6/c7 states since my psu is not haswell certified )
in a Rosewill Blackhawk mid tower
----i use the msata 32gb as a cache to lower ram usage.
----im my previous AMD fx 6300 build with MSI 970 Mobo i had no problem with boot to desktop( win7), but now it always shows the windows boot manager with 2 windows 7 home premium (recommended), it was just a bit annoying for the time being,a simple solution was to turn the delay from 30 sec to 0, but there is still a brief delay.
----i had to had to also update the bios using the disks software.
----elite group has always been great, even back then with my AMD phenom x4 970 3.5ghz overclocked to 3.8ghz on there ECS am3 880G Mobo
with an ECS geforce gt 520 1gb
3 years later and they are till the best bang for the buck!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Overclocking capability
-Easy to use interface
-Quality components

Cons: -Only 1 PCIx3 lane

Other Thoughts: For those questioning the brand or the fact that it is the cheapest z87 out there, let me just say that this is one of the easiest boards I have ever worked with, overclocking is a breeze, and remains perfectly stable. While that also has to do with the silicon lottery, I have seen some say that these "low end" boards can't hold their own. I have taken my 4670k to 4.6 at 1.25v, but currently have it at 4.5 for increased stability. Could most likely get 4.7 at 1.3v with this board. Rock solid recommendation.

5 out of 5 eggsupdate to my earlier post

Pros: So I decided to see how fast this system will boot.
The system consists of the The free 30gb ecs msata drive and this ecs MB with 16gb gskill aeres 2400 memory running at 2400 boot times to win 7 and entering password...

Complete startup 33.26 sec
Complete shutdown 9 sec
Startup after bios post 18.96 sec
Restart 31.86 sec

I have nothing else to compare with but for me it is pretty fast.

Cons: Could it be faster?

4 out of 5 eggsExceeds Expectation

Pros: It is a great MB. It has all the stuff you need. I liked this MB because I can use the new 4th gen intel processors and use some legacy hardware I cannot do without. This MB will be used for Audio Video processing. I have a high end legacy PCI sound card and SCSI interface that i use with my equipment and the 2 PCI ports were definitely welcome. It is a Z87 MB so it is fast and over clockable. I will use it with an i7-4771 chip so no OC but I do not care about that now but I have the option to get a K processor in the future if I want. The dimensions are a bit smaller that other ATX MB's but no Issues installing in case. MB is cheap but it is built very well. I like the BIOS but has a bit of getting used to. Has USB 3 and USB 2 ports. On board USB 3 20 pin connector for more USB ports. Plenty Video ports. I tried the DVI port and it is not Dual link so i am not abe to get the full resolution on my 30" dell monitor. I had not had the chance to check the display port with the monitor. No problem since I will be using an Nvidia discrete graphics card with 2x dual link ports to drive my monitors.
I am using 2x 8GB Gskill Ares 2400 DDR3 memory. I turned on the OC option for the memory in the Bios and it automatically saw it as 2400 memory. Works well with no issues or errors and fast. The ECS web page mentions the board was not tested mor than 16 GB so i went with that first. It is upgradable to 32 GB and I will be geting 16 more in the future if the memory goes on sale.
When you load up your OS, use the DVD drive to install your drivers. There is a lot of bloat ware so if you do not want that stuff install app or drivers individually to ensure you do not get the junk you will never use.
Also it has a dust shield technology which is a nice feature but the shields are connected with double sided foam tape. I see these failing in the future with heat and the metal shields falling on my components and motherboard. Wish it was attached more securely.

Cons: Did not come with extra cables. This MB has ports for extra USB, parallel and com ports. The cables to connect to these ports are not included hence 1 egg removed. But it does come with 2 SATA cables.
Comes with driver DVD with a lot of junk bloat ware. You have been warned!
The dust shields are only attached with double sided foam tape and wish it was held more securely so that there is no chance for these to fall on your components and possibly cause a short or fry your equipment.

Other Thoughts: If you are thinking about getting a budget MB but want it to be high quality This is the board for you. It is priced right and will give you what you need. I suggest you do to the ecs web page and read the manual and see all of the specs before purchasing so you are certain it has what you want/need.
There is a V2.0 listed on the ECS webpage and I cannot see the difference between the 2.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Has connections for everything I installed (as every board should). Good solid board. x4 RAM slots. Supports my i5 4670k CPU and GTX 660.

Cons: Seeing as it was apparently a brand new board I didn't expect to open the box and have one of the CPU socket pins bent in the complete opposite direction. After hours of contemplating on whether or not to attempt to fix the fragile pin, I decided to do it. Took another 45 minutes to get it just right back into place very carefully. Very nerve racking. I would have RMA'd it but I couldn't wait another day to complete my build. I know for a fact I had nothing to do with bending the pin in the first place seeing as all I had done up to that point was take it out of the box and lift the socket arm up to examine the pins. Also does not come with screws to brace the mSATA SSD that came with least mine did not include them.

Other Thoughts: All in all it is a good board for the price. But not worth an average rating due to my previously stated experience.

3 out of 5 eggspay for what you get

Pros: I works if your not setting the stat control raid. the free 32GB mSTAT drive that came with it works.

Cons: I bought this against my better judgement( free ssd sweetened the deal) my plan was to use Intel's ssd cashing. in order to use said cashing you have to set the stat control to raid, only problem with this is the bios like to randomize what hard drive its going to try to boot from. the other problem I've had is when the bored has lost power, on restart my USB controller won't respond, two more restarts and it works.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Z87, inexpensive, USB3, lot's of video port options, 6 SATA ports, good BIOS

Cons: Only one PS2 port (I still use a PS2 KVM)

Other Thoughts: Really surprised with this board, never had an ECS. The BIOS is more colorful and graphical but still very easy to navigate and it has tons of options, more than I usually see. Can also configure manual settings and overclock if desired. Working great for me for dual boot UBuntu Linux and Windows 7 installs. No problems at all under either OS.
