2 out of 5 eggsInitial BIOS are not Haswell compatible

Pros: It was cheap and had the features I was looking for.

Cons: I did not realize that the Motherboard did not initially have drivers that support the Haswell processor(specifically 4790K). Everything looked ok but once the board came in it would not boot. When I looked everything up it did not specifically state that it would support it but it stated that there is a planned BIOS update to support the core. ETA was TBD. But I would need a Non Haswell core to flash the board before I could use the board and new core.

Other Thoughts: All I can say is this is my fault for assuming that the new processor would be compatible and ensure too look up all compatibility before ordering up cheaper parts. It will save you some headaches.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issues you have experienced with you motherboard. For reference the BIOS update is for the "Haswell refresh" CPUs. Intel started to release Haswell Refresh CPUs this spring with the 4790K being released a month ago. All other Haswell CPUs are supported.

Normally we update the BIOS for ECS motherboards prior to shipping to Newegg to try and eliminate such issues.

4 out of 5 eggsIt Works

Pros: This mobo works. It doesn't have any bells and whistles and I was a little worried at first that it might not have enough power connections for the fans in my case... but it did. If you're looking for a cheap mobo that has what you need, I suggest it, though It's not terribly "future-proof".

Cons: If I want to upgrade anything in my PC, I'll probably have to upgrade this mobo as well.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard at a great price.

Pros: I have built hundreds of computers, and almost always stick with Asus, Intel and MSI. Decided to give ECS a try and was not disappointed. Good build quality, lot's a features for a microATX motherboard. Running for a few days with burn-in software without issue.

Cons: The only con that has affected the build is the lack of additional fan connections. It has the typical CPU and system fan connectors, but an additional chassis fan would be nice.

Other Thoughts: Intel Core i5-4570 Haswell 3.2GHz
G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
PowerColor TurboDuo AXR9 270
Samsung 840EVO

Skyrim at ultra settings, Minecraft with all the eyecandy enabled.

1 out of 5 eggsFrusterating

Pros: Low Price

Cons: Slow to load to post screen.
Random resets.

Other Thoughts: This is the first time I have EVER reviewed a product. I bought 2 of these boards to build economical computers for my children. Both boards were a pain to setup. They would take up to 30 seconds before they even reached the post screen. That was frustrating enough, but the most irritating thing was that one of the boards would randomly restart. I double and triple checked all of the connections of the cables, made sure that the cpu and peripherals were seated correctly yet it still reboots. I was hoping to give these to my children at the same time but now I can only give one and have to wait until the RMA gets covered as well as pay shipping for the product that was defective. I guess this is what I should expect when buying items from an online store. :(

5 out of 5 eggsLots of new features, solid performer

Pros: on-board everything, single board solution to 99% of needs. SATA3 RAID, 32GB, and triple screen hi-def video (VGA, HDMI, and DVI ports can each go to their own display). Runs pretty quiet with the included windows software for adaptive fan control. Would probably be good as a server board since it has the RAID and 32GB ram capacity. Seems very reliable for past 1 month running 24/7.

Cons: it's a little pricy. about 10-15% higher than other boards but none of the other ones in the lower price range seemed to have SATAIII 6GBps and "high" ram capacity. For some reason it tells me that new WD 2GB drives are only SATAII 3GBPs speed. Could not figure out how to get RAID to work on the motherboard at all. It is very much non-intuitive (and I been building PCs since 1985). User manual is completely worthless, as expected. Newegg does not have any tech support so you are on your own if something doesnt work. Single 8G DDR3 SIMM was rejected by mobo at first, causing me to think mem was bad. After a couple hours messing with it, it finally registered and started working fine. Once everything was working, I added second 8G SIMM with no problem.

Other Thoughts: Runs Win7 Ultimate just great - no problems of any kind. Solid performer for over a month with Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz chip. Didn't try overclocking or anything like that. No blue screens, crashes, lockups, reboots, or any unanticipated behaviors.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your feedback. It is appreciated. We need your feedback in order to improve the quality of our products and service.

If you have question on your SATA speeds, please contact us. We would like to look into this and help find an answer.

For RAID, unfortunately the Intel B85 Express chipset does not support RAID.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this or any ECS products, please contact us. We are here to help.

5 out of 5 eggsGood So Far

Pros: Solid Board
Affordable
PCI-e x16 3.0 (x1 slot)
4 Ram Slots
Basics so less things to go wrong
SPDIF header (hard to track down a header connector but you can find one somewhere if you search for "SPDIF Bracket" online and you will find one)

Cons: Not as good as a highend chipset if planning on doing any kind of professional tweaks (but I knew that buying it)
Also there was some sort of sticker residue on my board....I'm hoping this was not from a refurb sticker or something....but everything turned on ok...just a little weird seeing sticky residue like a sticker was on the board...being brand new and all.
No SPDIF on the back connectors, but has a header onboard so you can add one.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for a HTPC case. I realize it's the B85 chipset for Business class, but I also realize that sometimes more just means more things to glitch out. So having the basics is sometimes a little better in my opinion.
PC Build:
Fractal Node 605 Case
Intel i5 4570S 2.9Ghz Haswell 1150 65W
Sapphire Flex2 7950 PCI-ex16
Samsung EVO SSD
500W EVGA 100-W1-500-KR

5 out of 5 eggsGood MB

Pros: Basic build, no issues. This was CPU, MB & memory replacement for an existing system, this went without any problems. BIOS looked good I wish I had more time to mess with it before the customer took the PC home. I didn't get chance to mess with overclocking or anything. Running fine for several weeks now.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGood Product

Pros: Does what is says it does. Cheap. Everything Onboard. Quality Construction. Updates on Website. The BIOS was very modern and allowed me to use my USB mouse while in the BIOS, I found it refreshing from the ol Blue Screen AMTREND BIOS.

Cons: Updating the CMOS gave unexpected results. I know what I am doing, and after reading the Website and all guidance given with the Update package, I installed and it gave a CMOS Checksum invalid at POST, I rebooted one more time and it gave me no problem.

Other Thoughts: I put this together with a Haswell 3.0ghz CPU, GSkill 8gb Ram, and a 120gb SSD Drive and it is LIGHTNING Fast, faster than any other machine in my house, and I am using all ONBOARD devices, and the whole thing was under $350. Very Nice.

5 out of 5 eggsA Great Motherboard

Pros: The motherboard arrives in a nice box that has all its components organized in a professional manner. The manual that comes with it is highly detailed and quite well explains configurations and settings involved. The motherboard has support for USB 3.0, SATA III, as well as the latest Haswell architecture. The installation of components on the motherboard went flawlessly. The quality is absolutely superb for the price you pay. Everything on the board seems sturdy and machined well.

Cons: None are apparent.

Other Thoughts: Before I had purchased this motherboard, I had never heard of the ECS company. With hesitation, I purchased the motherboard for a build of mine since the motherboard was offered at an inexpensive price. From now on, I will gladly continue purchasing motherboards from ECS. I am impressed by the performance per dollar.
