4 out of 5 eggsWith a little work....

Pros: Now that I replaced the fan, it's perfect

Cons: Had to replace the fan

Other Thoughts: I wrote the previous review as well, in which I complained about fan noise. ECS told me to enable the smart fan controller.
I did, the problem was that when I set it to "quiet" or "silent" operation, it would run that way until the temps built up. The fan would then spin like a banshee for about thirty seconds and then slow again. Very annoying. The problem has been fixed. I purchased a 40mm Noctua fan to replace the stock fan, and the temps are better, and the computer runs completely silently. Good board, stock poor fan. It does the trick, but it's annoying beyond words until the fan is replaced. That is all.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent for what it is.

Pros: Slap in ram and a hard drive, and you have a computer.

Cons: The fan on this thing spins up quite loudly at times.

Other Thoughts: I purchased several of these motherboards when they were on sale for a bit less than the current price.

Here's my thoughts:
1. Since this motherboard/processor only support single channel ram, pop in a 4 gb stick of ram and leave it be.,

2. Decent overall experience with Windows 7 x64. Not a speed demon, but very decent for everyday use. Programs load fine, browsing isn't lagging, and streams 1080p videos just fine with only about 20-25% cpu usage.

W7EI score is as follows:
Processor: 6.2
Memory: 5.9 (Single stick of 4gb CAS 9 DDR3 1600)
Graphics: 5.0
Gaming Graphics: 6.2
Primary Hard Disk 5.9 (Using a WD BLACK 7200rpm drive)

I would recommend this motherboard for anybody who needs a small form factor machine, without too many compromises.

It's no speed demon, but it's respectable.

Right now I'm using this with a VESA mounted ASUS ITX case mounted behind my monitor. It's tiny, and works great in that role. It's not completely silent though, so I may end up replacing the heatsink fan.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your feedback. It is appreciated. We need your feedback in order to improve the quality of our products and service.

Enable the Smart Fan control inside the BIOS should fix this issue.

3 out of 5 eggsWas alright for a while

Pros: Inexpensive, relatively quiet, low power consumption, compact.

Cons: Ethernet When I originally purchased this board, getting networking up was a little bit of a headache. It took a couple tries at installing the drivers, but it did eventually connect up and I have been using the system on and off for nearly a year. Recently, I needed to install a fresh OS on the system, and now I can't seem to get the Ethernet to come back online. Was working fine, but now no matter which drivers I install, whether the ones from the original disk, whichever ones Windows tries to install, or drivers downloaded from Realtek's website, I get an error indicating that it couldn't find the port, check to see if deep sleep is enabled and check the cable.

Other Thoughts: ECS's website is not great when it comes to downloading drivers. Searching for the board in their support section results in a cloudfire error, and there don't seem to be any drivers available to download. They do have a utility that will supposedly search for and download the drivers you need, but that doesn't work terribly well when the drivers you need are to get the machine talking to the network in the first place.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issue you are experiencing with your motherboard. Please try to test the motherboard outside the case in order to verify this issue. If you still have any concern, we would like for you to contact us. We would like to find out more about your configuration and work with you in finding a solution. I or any of my team members here at technical support will be able to help you.

Our hours are Mon-Fri 9am-6pm PST.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Board

Pros: Good low-power board
Quick setup, almost nothing to plug in.
Beats my older E350

Cons: CPU fan failed within 3 months (replaced with nearly silent fan)
Could not get dual monitors to work with onboard video (put in the 5450 from my E350 so not a big deal for me)

Other Thoughts: Going to move the OS to a SSD in the near future.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Board, Bad fan

Pros: Very powerful board for how little power it uses. Even under stress, this board isn't pulling any more than 30 watts and can still handle media server uses.

I've had power flowing to this board and operating for 3 months straight so far and have had no issue.

Cons: Gets warm.
Fan fails very quickly.

I had to replace the fan on this board within a month after purchase. Bearings should not go bad that fast on a fan.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Board, not so good video

Pros: Cheap, fast, and uses almost Zero Energy

Cons: Integrated Graphics do OK for Netfilx, and some very light gaming, but fail when trying to watch 1080i/p video. Running 16gb of 1600 ddr3 with the max of 2gb shared to the iGpu and cannot watch most of my digital library on this machine.

Other Thoughts: Get a seperate video card, and this will be great for just about anything but heavy gaming.

1 out of 5 eggsNot as it appears

Pros: Cheap. Low power consumption.

Cons: No native msata support. Only 2 SATA 3.0. Says XP support, not true.

2 out of 5 eggsGood processor, lousy company.

Pros: The A6-5200 is plenty fast.

Cons: Lousy memory support (couldn't get my 8gb module to work)

Lousy tech support from company (filling out a ticket is a nightmare, and they require things like the serial number, which is nowhere to be found).

UEFI BIOS doesn't support memory timings, just speeds. It adjusts timings own its own based on the speed, regardless of how you change them. It's also buggy and counter-intuitive.

Other Thoughts: If you can find this processor in a different motherboard, from a different maker, go for it.

Do not buy from ECS, they did as poorly as one could have expected.

Also, this board does NOT support XP. It will work, kind of, but because the Kabini has no XP drivers from AMD, the iGPU is not support, making for a very awkward XP experience. It's essentially unusable on XP, but runs fine on Windows 8.1. I wish it were the other way around.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the issues you have experienced with your motherboard.

For your and any others reference, support can also be reached by email or phone. See the contacts below and contacts are listed on each ECS product page on Newegg. For future reference, when filling out an online support request, required fields can be filled out with anything. For this motherboard the serial number is on a sticker on the side of the rear audio input stack.

If you are still having issues with your memory configuration, please feel free to contact us. We are here to help.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome, more powerful than expected

Pros: Very nice UEFI interface
Able to change memory voltages, speeds to accommodate faster timings or higher MHz/voltage
Multiple settings for optimization inside EFI for CPU, fans etc
Super low power consumption (25w)
PCI x16
Two Sata 6G
USB3
Two PCIe ports
Supports VI
Supports 32GB RAM
HMDI out

Cons: It's getting tricky to find this APU, and ECS stopped making this board :(

Other Thoughts: Really a very nice combo for the money. The board is loaded with a lot of features and has a solid APU from AMD (I'm an Intel bulder at heart, but you can't find these specs with Intel ITX for under $300).

I'm running this board in a SteamO box with no additional GPU and, with some tweaking, have been able to run many games at 30-40 FPS on good settings without turning this into a 100 degree C oven.

4 out of 5 eggsFair Unit

Pros: Small Form factor
Smokes an e-350D there is a night and day difference in the power and speed between these two processors.
Quite, I drove the processor at 100% for month and I couldn't hear it and it didn't break 55C, but I didn't have it in a case.
Doesn't need an SSD to feel speedy, but it dose help.

Cons: Limited pci-e slot (only for video cards, loss of one egg)
No vista drivers, but there are XP drivers there
I couldn't get the USB 3.0 to work but that may be on my end since I have 3 computers with USB 3.0 and none of them work.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to drive my 780 for folding at home, it doesn't require a full 16X pci-e slot for this type of operation, All I could get out of it was about 90% utilization, so I went back to my X6. An E-350D would only get me about 82% utilization.
It would be great for an daily computer that used email, and internet and some older games from the early 2000, but for an home server since there is only two Sata ports and the pci-e cannot be used to expand I would suggest else ware.
