Awesome Board
- Pros: supported my hardware, great overall functionality.
- Cons: needed a bios update for the phenom ii, but seamless install was provided by dfi.
- Other Thoughts: the bios update had a windows installer, which is very nice considering most people now don't know what DOS is.
RAID is flaky. Otherwise, A++!
- Pros: Loads of BIOS options. Solid board overall. I love all the little extra perks that make life easy. I feel like this is the kind of board I would design. I found the manual adequate but certainly not overly helpful - had to look a few things up online. If this is your first build, try someone else like Gigabyte - they hold your hand a little bit more than DFI.
- Cons: The only problem I've had is it can't maintain a RAID. Keeps losing the drives (Seagate Barracuda 500gb 3.0). At first I just assumed and RMA'd the "lost" HDD, thinking it failed. Now, I think I RMA'd a good drive. At first, it found the replaced drive and rebuilt the array as it should. Then it lost the drive again. Currently, one of the drives has completely fallen out of the array assignment and I have to rebuild it manually. ugh.
- Other Thoughts: I like the board a lot, but between the horror reports of DFI cust support and the persistent trouble I've had with the RAID, I'll likely try another brand next time.
Good Board
- Pros: Many options, reasonably good layout, full ATX, crossfire ready.
- Cons: Had to clear the CMOS prior to initial boot (never had to do that before and I've built 50+ systems). Had to tweak BIOS to get crossfire enabled. The price was a little high.
- Other Thoughts: Nice solid board. It has plenty of room around the CPU for big heatsinks. After changing the PCIE slot settings to GEN2 from the default I was able to get 2 4350's into crossfire mode. I'm running a Phenom 8750 on it with no problems. I tend to stay behind the cutting edge stuff to keep costs down and this board was a good option that let me upgrade to a triple core but keep using my DDR2 memory.
