5 out of 5 eggsvery dependable

Pros: easy install, very reliable, easy bios, enough expansion slots to keep up with new technology. i loved this board

Cons: no raid

Other Thoughts: i've had this mobo for 8 years! i've upraded every piece of hardware from my cpu 3x, video card 2x, memory 4x, and numerous hard drives.but i have never had to change this mobo. until yesterday, it didn't post.the capacitor near the south bridge chip bulged and blew.

5 out of 5 eggsRan full speed for 4 years.

Pros: Any MOB that can put up with never being shut off, or having dust removed from the case for 4 years is a top shelf Board. It finally died due to lack of maintenance. One of the best boards I have ever used.

Cons: Can't find another one!

Other Thoughts: Takes a licking, and keeps on ticking. (sorry Timex)

1 out of 5 eggsDied...

Pros: Clean, many nice features. Everything you could want in a micro ATX board.

Cons: Its been about 6 months since I bought it and it died today. The system shut down and a capacitor near the South Bridge was blown. Now the system wont Post.

Other Thoughts: For 6 months it was flawless, then out of no where it dies. Such it life I suppose.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board. Great Price

Pros: Good price. Great stability. Running for > 1 year with 0 issues.

Cons: Lacks good O/C options. FSB locked at 300. If you're looking for great O/C board look elsewhere. Otherwise, if this has the features you need, buy it!

4 out of 5 eggssweet

Pros: It outperforms the 965 in games. Has a 775 pin cpu socket.

Cons: not much fsb ramping headroom

Other Thoughts: overclocked e4300 to 2.63ghz using tin foil for pin mod. fsb option in bios show 200 to 266 when tin foil isnt present, but when the tin foil mod is in place the fsb options are 266 to 300. I can only get to 294fsb stable.

4 out of 5 eggsFairly good board for the price

Pros: Some overclocking options
Everything works (ie, onboard sound and LAN worked out of the box while installing Vista business); I didn't have to go look for any Vista drivers except for the sound

Cons: Only one system fan header (my case, the ultra microfly, can use two)
Documentation (manual) is awful but I found my answers by filling out the biostar-usa tech support form. The f1 at post issue is because it thinks there's a floppy drive (even if it's not connected on the mobo). Just go into the BIOS and set that option to none. Also, you install dual channel by using memory slots 1 and 3 and not 1 and 2 (I wasn't sure at first).
Bios upgrades look like they're done via floppy but there are none on biostar's website.
Lack of firewire but I knew this at purchase and still have not used a firewire device so no biggie for me.

Other Thoughts: First time I built a computer and worked like a charm (POST on first try). I'm using e4300, 2x1 gb Corsair XMS 5300 kit, 160 GB WD SATA drive, BenQ DVD/RW. It looks like cpu OC is capped at 265 but I'm only doing 220 right now.
I would definitely purchase this again.
Overall, the lack of documentation makes it a better board for those w/ previous building experience (or just read reviews like this one for documentation).

5 out of 5 eggsbiostar makes great boards!

Pros: good every day board.

Cons: not ,much of an overclocker but i dont overclock any i like to keep my warranty.

Other Thoughts: to reviewer below this is dual channel memory motherboard.so a 3rd stick will crash system.you can not use 3 memory dimms with any dual channel motherboard.i dont believe your review was fair to this board since you obviously dont know what your doing.

2 out of 5 eggs2nd 1 not much better

Pros: Worked good out of the box for 1 day. All features started out well. Booted first attempt with 2G of Kingston 667. Pretty good video and audio on board.

Cons: Day 2,I added 3rd stick of 667. Bios freeze on splash screen. CMOS reset failed to resolve. I decided to wait it out and about 5 to 7 mins later it booted after display of checksum error and no further explanation. No available BIOS flash at website.

Other Thoughts: Decided on a refund. Going for a different mfg. I have TForce 6100 Bios AM2 and it has performed great for 6+mos. I'm dissapointed on this 1 though

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Easy to install, works great, integrated video & sound

Cons: No firewire, only one IDE channel

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a dead motherboard. After I got it, I realized it didn't have firewire. Luckily, firewire cards are cheap. I had to abandon one of my DVD drives because this only has one IDE channel (like most boards available now).

This is a decent drop-in replacement for an older board, though.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Good so Far

Pros: Well packaged, came with other items for a new build.

Cons: Poor manufacturing//assembly perhaps. Product arrived with only 1 pin holding heat sink on North bridge Chip. Thermal paste smeared all over. CPU protective pin cap was sitting on the heatsink for NB.Obvious problem with assembly plant/person?? Not NewEgg. Prompt as usual.Thank you.

Other Thoughts: RMA'd and waitng. Delivery was a day late but who knows about the forces beyond our control. I have patience with all parties concerned. Why did I have to pay return ship of the RMA???
