The NF44XA7COMBVGA1 combo from Biostar is a superb choice for a new system build or upgrade of an older AMD system. The Socket 754 motherboard can handle Sempron and Athlon 64 processors. Two DIMM sockets will accept up to 2GB of DDR-400 memory. The ATX form factor lets you mount the board in most cases.
The NF4 4X-A7 motherboard has 4 PCI, 2 PCIe X1 and 1 PCIe X16 slots. You also get 6 channel audio, 10/100 LAN, and 8 USB 2.0 ports, just to name a few. The USB ports are split front and rear for convenience. There is also a header for front panel audio connectors for a gaming or VOIP headset. Works fine
- Pros: Worked without any problems. Installed an AMD 64 3000+ with 1.5gb of memory. Runs fine.
- Cons: Doesn't perform as well as I thought on benchmarks. I wasn't expecting a gaming rig but I did expect the nVidia 7100gs to perform better then the aging 6600 that was in the system, it didn't.
- Other Thoughts: System runs stable and works for what I needed it for.
- Pros: Great Board, Nice features in the BIOS. Plug and Play, little to no configuration required
- Cons: They advertise this combo as having a GeForce 7100 256MB Card. It's actually a 128MB card. It is the only low scoring item according to Windows Vista Scoring Index.
