5 out of 5 eggsAll As It Should Be...

Pros: Just as it should be, the parts are compatible and are contained nicely in one box. It all worked flawlessly with my Sempron 3400+. I noticed a nice performance boost for some reason when I ran Memtest86+ v 2.01 in the memory through put from my old Samsung RAM when I ran it to test the memory slots. When I ran Knoppix v.5.10, it found and configured all on board devices which worked quite well. The NIC, which is a Realtek chip, gave me the expected through put on my home 100 MbLAN. The video card is a silent GeForce 7100 based one so I am not expecting too much there but then again it won't be used for gaming anyway.

This board and video combo is quite usable as a second desktop with reasonable performance. I would recommend it be used as a workstation rather than a gaming machine.

Cons: The price went up since I bought mine. It is a Socket 754 board which is old tech but quite usable depending on your intentions. As a gaming machine you would need a top level processor which would be quite hard to find and video upgrade, so it would be rather pointless.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a back up board for my home server which uses a low power Sempron chip.

4 out of 5 eggsNice upgrade for old CPU

Pros: I purchsed this mobo to replace my favorite AOpen mobo that the AGP slot failed after almost 3 years of heavy use. The AOpen board still works wih a PCI video card, but just not the same and after seeing what PCI Express can do to boost the old 754 CP's performance over AGP I felt that the Biostar mobo would do me a favor and keep my older system running and it did just that. It is a bit finicky about IDE and SATA settings, but once I got those sorted out the system runs great. The cheap PCI-E card works fine for what it is though I would replace it with an MSI NX8400GS card and get better perfomance on the cheap! One should not waste a lot of money to keep an old dated system going, but it works great for what it is and I run Lnux in a Virtual Box setup alongwith WinXP Pro and no complaints. Hopefully it will run for anther 3 years or more. I would recommend it to anyone who has an old 754 CPU and wants to upgrade their system rather than buy all new stuff.

Cons: NVidea firewall more pain than it is worth don't bother using it Comodo is free and better! Wish it came with better video card, but that's being a chronic complainer!

Other Thoughts: 4th Biostar mobo so far so good-one board had a faulty CPU temp reading making the CPU seem to run 10 degrees hotter than norm-switched CPU to other boards and 3 out of 4 read normal-so if you think your CPU is running hot it may be a faulty mobo instead!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Decent board, no real problems. Best 754 board newegg still carries.

Cons: Not a great overclocker. Couldn't get it to load windows with fsb set over 220.

Other Thoughts: As long as you don't plan on overclocking, its a great board.

3 out of 5 eggsNo video card included

Pros: All the hardware was compatible with Linux right out of the box.

Cons: Unfortunately, my box did not contain the video card advertised.

Other Thoughts: I was able to use an old card but the video is terribly slow and not rendered directly.

5 out of 5 eggsVery happy

Pros: The Biostar mobo is what it is... I needed a quick, low cost board for a GeForce 7600 GS PCI Express graphics card and a 754 AMD Sempron to run Vista. I received exactly what I ordered.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I just wanted to say I am very pleased to do business with Newegg. Very professional, timely, and accurate.

5 out of 5 eggsonly decent board 4 754 AMD

Pros: Runs extremely cool (30c) with AMD 3400 Sempron. Supplied PCI video card performs better than any 256 I have (4). Blew my mind. If you need a book to con figure the bios buy ASUS. This is my second one because of the very cool operating temp. Get one before 754 socket boards become obsolete!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I build desktops for a hobby and before I give them to someone I load them and push the system (XP PRO) to the to the software max. No failers yet and I push them to the max!

4 out of 5 eggsNice for the price

Pros: System went together without a hitch. Runs cool & quiet. Runs Windows XP just fine. For the price it's totally worth it, I might buy another for a Linux install.

Cons: Directions could be better, seemed like pages were missing but they where all there. Only one free fan header for case fan. Chipset fan speed showed 0 in bios and utilities. Systems website has the wrong bios on there site for this board, or it just wouldn't load with the inboard flashing utility. I couldn't get VISTA to run stable at all, system kept freezing up. Second attempt to install VISTA resulted in installation failures over and over again, never getting it to run(Reason for attempting BIOS update).

Other Thoughts: I've never been so frustrated trying to load a bios, my first failure. IMO I still believe Biostar has the wrong bios on there site. It seemed SO EASY to load the bios, but I couldn't do it. I could still be wrong??
Still I am happy with the purchase.
