Doesn't always detect boot SATA HD
- Pros: The MB works as expected after the OS (Vista Business Ed.) boots.
- Cons: Doesn't detect boot SATA HD reliably. Usually, on a normal PC, you turn on the power switch and the PC boots. With this Biostar TF7025-M2 MB, after it informs you know that the OS couldn't be found, you have to turn the power switch off and on quickly and it will then procede to boot to the OS. I don't see this problem fully addressed on the Biostar website.
- Other Thoughts: I applied the updated bios and fixes DL'd from the Biostar web site and it didn't fix the problem. Applying Windows Vista SP1 fixed the problem temporarily but the problem reappeared. If I built this PC for someone I would have had to replace the MB.
Great basic mobo, but beware newer CPU compat. issues
- Pros: Inexpensive, loaded with as many slots and ports as a basic user would need, and has decent on-board graphics.
- Cons: Doesn't appear to support certain widescreen resolutions or the new high-efficiency AMD X2 CPUs (e.g. 4050e) out-of-box.
- Other Thoughts: I've been using these motherboards for several months now to build PCs for employees at my company, and they've worked great. I've only encountered two problems to date, and they're fairly trivial: they don't support 19" widescreen resolution, and they won't get past the BIOS loading summary screen if you try to use CPUs like the new AMD Athlon X2 4050e, even though it's a Socket AM2 processor.
Heck of a beauty!
- Pros: Ease of use, 4 ports for fans on the motherboard, DVI plug onboard, ability to use two screens onboard(not great with less than 2GB RAM/256MB RAM to video), size, price, OC-ability, and Auto-OC.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: i've bought and installed about 12 of these over the past year. There is no more stable a motherboard than this, in my opinion.
