5 out of 5 eggsSolid Performance

Pros: - Excellent Price

- Able to expand up to 8 Gigs (After researching many many boards, hardly any have this ability for the price range)

- comes with a SATA cable (a plus)

- Comes with a well-written manual and is fairly documented on line at Biostar's website.

- Ease of install

Cons: - PCIe Video card placement is close to South bridge chip making it hard to add extra heat sink or fan to it.

Other Thoughts: Installed Everything and fired system up on 1st try (no issues - flawless victory!)

System specs:

case: Cooler Master 690
Proc: AMD Dual Core 5600+ 2.9ghz (stock fan/sink)
Mem: Corsair 2 x 2GB of DDR2 800
Vid Card: BFG Tech Nvidia 9800 GT OC
HD: IPSG 250GB SATA 300 ExelStore Jupiter 7200rpm
PSU - Thermaltake TR2 470w

soon to follow: Cooler master Blue Orb 2 (fan/sink)

1 out of 5 eggsCan you please let us know what you did to make this mobo compatible

Pros: works

Cons: Biostar claims this mobo doesn't support the new Phenom IIs.

Other Thoughts: I emailed Biostar and they specifically told me that this mobo wasn't compatible with Phenom IIs...the previous reviewer says they are though (with a bios update).
To the previous reviewer: what bios did you update to? 2008-06-12? what bios update program did you use?
I didn't bother trying to install a Phenom II because Biostar told me they werent compatible...

3 out of 5 eggsDecent Entry Level Board

Pros: Cheap, got a combo deal with my cpu. Havent had any problems wit hit. Easy setup and installation. DOES WORK WITH PHENOM II SERIES!

Cons: No support, minimal features, not much better than the bottom of the line $50 mobos

Other Thoughts: I recently upgraded to a Phenom II X4 920 2.8GHz. There is little information provided from biostar about whether it works with the Phenom II's. Lot of people say it doesnt work, but I am assuming then didn't update the bios. I just downloaded a bios update program and it was super easy to do, dont know what everyone is complaning about. Overall this is a solid choice if you are looking for a budget build. However if you got the money, spend extra for a nice board. I originally got it for a budget pc, but it quickly evolved into much more, and now i wish i had a nicer board.

2 out of 5 eggsShould be a an AM2 not AM2+

Pros: Inexpensive, good chipset, somewhat stable and reliable performance. Excellent AM2 support. This board has lasted a year without failing.

Cons: No support in USA. Documents on-line are almost nonexistent. Board does not support many of the AM2+ Phenom CPUs and especially the Phenom II. This was a major dissapointment, as I purchased this board a year ago to support the Phenom when their design stabliized. The system does not wake out of sleep mode reliably, but this could be caused by other issues. The Website says that the BIOS can be upgraded from a thumb drive, but it can't unless you use the elusive windows flashing program which I couldn't find online.

Other Thoughts: BIOS suppport is nonexistent, which I would expect if the product reached EOL, but these boards are still being sold everywhere. People claim that ECS is the cheapest of the cheap, but my $35 ECS AM2 board is so much better than this product.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy This

Pros: It's cheap.....

Cons: This board is not stable. The usb ports will randomly drop devices connected to them. The mouse in particular is terrible for this. I have run 3 different logitech mice on this board and the problem persists.

Also, random restarts have been an issue for this board. I am running Windows XP SP3 fully updated. Processor is an AMD Dual Core 4800+ 2gb of ram and an 8600GTS. I do not overclock. Everything is stock. This board is just not good.

Other Thoughts: I am extremely unhappy. This is my third Biostar board. I bought this one based upon my own positive experiences with the two previous boards. I will not be buying another biostar board. Spend the extra money and get a quality board from someone like Asus or Gigabyte.

1 out of 5 eggsWorks but dissapointed with Biostar

Pros: works

Cons: Not compatible with new Phenom II's due to lack of support from Biostar. They refuse to release an updated bios (like other reputable companies did) that allows you to drop in a new Phenom II processor...therefore I am extremely let down

Other Thoughts: will never buy another Biostar motherboard again...I've had 3 Biostar motherboards and all of them work fine but the lack of support from the company is inexcusable. Other motherboard companies offer bios updates so that your SB600 motherboard will work with the new Phenom II processors, but Biostar doesn't. Instead, they want you to spend more money buying a brand new motherboard for the upgrade. They told me that the a Bios update isn't possible due to a "hardware limitation" but this is total bogus because other companies are supporting these new processors with much older hardware.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: Pretty good and reliable, has the functionality I need.

Cons: Integrated sound is not the best. This doesn't bother me though since I always planned on getting a separate card. Overclocking abilities are...limited, but that's not surprising due to the nature of the board. Let's just say I've had to reset my CMOS several times when trying to push my RAM.

1 out of 5 eggsHard disk killer!

Pros: When it was working, it seemed to work alright.

Cons: Couldn't install Windows or even launch a Linux live CD until I upgraded the BIOS. That's fine, but after the BIOS upgrade it would take 15 seconds to even START to POST. Thought I could live with that, but over this weekend it killed TWO hard disks! My data, some of it irreplaceable, has thus far been unrecoverable!! I'm really unhappy about that.

Other Thoughts: I should have backed up my data... I know better, but just didn't make the time to do that. My bad. But, this motherboard is a serious liability. I am RMA'ing it today, already have a different mobo on the way.

5 out of 5 eggsPhenominal for the price!

Pros: PCI express 2.0 x16 - Good FSB speed - HD on board audio is surprisingly amazing - I didn't even bother to install my x-fi soundblaster audio card from my previous build. HD audio through headphones is ridiculously amazing.

This board is a great bargain and works great.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This board is combined with AMD 64x2 5200 - 8Gig Corsair DDR2 800 pc2 6400 - PNY Nvidia 8800GT 2.0 video card overclocked to 705 MHZ - Thermaltake 700w Power Supply - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive etc...

I will probably upgrade the video card to GTX 260 soon. They're coming down dramatically in price:)
