Pros: Its a mobo. It allows some overclock

Cons: Won't let me upgrade from 4gb memory. So, Worthless piece of hardware.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat except for video in Boxee

Pros: Perfect fit for HEC Case. Specs are pertfect if reusing old/spare parts.

Cons: None really, but see Other Thoughts.

Other Thoughts: 1. You will have to Flash the Bios for XP.
2. Got a Video error using COM1 for USB connections, switched to COM2 and worked fine. Try this before un-installing memory.
3. Fast motion video will flicker in Boxee (but not in VLC). Not really the MBs fault, but anyone looking at this to build a HTPC should be aware of that.

1 out of 5 eggsNot this time.

Pros: bought as a replacement for another board and very closely matched what was being replaced. pc able to boot with the processor that i originally had.

Cons: would not load OS completely with any hard drive that i used. i used ide/sata drives and nothing worked. it would hang on install screens, or boot screens with custom CDs. some live linux boots worked, but it was not intended to be a linux machine.

Other Thoughts: this was the first time that something purchased from new egg did not work out 100% for me. outside of the installation problems that i had with it, it seems like it could have been a very good board to use. i did not have any other processors to test with it, and it may have been a good idea to buy a brand new processor to use with it. unfortunately, it was part of a rebuild for someone else.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Great board thus far. I'm using an Athlon X4 630 processor with 4 gigs corsair xms2 memory. Booted right up. Super stable. Decent graphics, 3.9 on windows 7 pro. Great media center build.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: Newegg rocks as always. Shipped quickly and super smooth transaction!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Very good board, Solid Caps, not bad on board graphics, very easy and tempting BIOS, great overcloaking assisting software (on CD) easy installing on case, no trouble installing CPU, Graphics card, great manual, very understandable (although this was my second build, I still had to refer to the manual and answered all my Q's) The board was labled like many others which makes it easy to know what is for what.

Cons: None, I mentioned the BIOS was tempting, because they have a great OverCloaking enabling system (at your expense obviously) so if you don't know what your doing, lsn to your mommy and don't touch what you don't know. Plus, (not a con) its capabilities are really high so you will have to have the right parts to help take it to that higher standard or else, it will just cause you trouble.

Other Thoughts: My Pc specs:
This Board
XFX ATI Radeon HD4890 XXX 1gb 256-bit GDDR5 (Overcloaked)
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz (Overcloaked to 3.6, using the software the board came with)
8gb G.SKILL DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Aftermarket Artic Heatsink with fan
3.25Tb capacity (all western digital)

I would say my pc is standard, but if the other components were at a higher level, the board will surely be able to handle it as well.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with 6 core

Pros: unknown

Cons: does not work with new 6 core

Other Thoughts: emailed support and they said they would never support 6 core on their boards with integrated graphics

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry, that is correct this model does not support 6X Processors but Biostar does have other models that does support 6 core AMD processors, example TA890GXB HD.

3 out of 5 eggsOK board, couple issues.

Pros: Lots of features
Price is right
Onboard HDMI

Cons: RAID controller is only 4 channel
Had to update bios to install Windows
Documentation nearly non-existent

Other Thoughts: My plan for this board was as a fileserver with an 80GB OS drive and 5 1TB drives in a RAID 5 array. I put the board in the case, installed 4GB of G. Skill RAM and hooked up the 80GB HDD. I tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate from a USB drive but got a blue screen saying "machine check error". So I took out one stick of RAM, same thing. Swap the RAM to all the other slots, try the other stick, try a stick of RAM from another working machine, try a different HDD, a different USB stick, all BSOD.
I try to flash the bios by copying the image to the USB stick I'm installing Windows from, it doesn't recognize it. Had to format the USB stick as FAT32 to get it to work. After that Windows installed fine from the USB stick.
When building the RAID array I found that it only supports up to 4 drives on the first 4 SATA connectors. In the product description it just says RAID 5 is supported and there are 6 SATA connectors, so I assumed that included all the SATA ports. Unfortunately not the cas

5 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: All solid caps means this thing will last. 790gx chipset will allow unlocking of cores on certain cpus. On-board video with HDMI was nice. Plenty fast for hulu, hd movies etc. Having 4 slots for memory is a definite plus.

Cons: The BIOS for this board can be confusing and uses some unusual language in some places. If you are overclocking a black edition cpu remember to "enable custom p states" you will then be able to see and change your multiplier etc. My one real con is that when I installed my gtx260 it blocked half of my sata ports, but pobodys nerfect.

Other Thoughts: Unlocked the 4th core on my x3 720 be. So simple! Just enable ACC in BIOS and BAM quad core. Ran Prime95 stable for 22+ hours on stock voltage. Had to boost to 1.4v to get it stable at 3.2ghz. I basically got an x4 955 for $100 thanks to this board...BUT... beware of Murphy's Law! Don't count on your extra cores unlocking. Just call it a bonus :)

5 out of 5 eggsStable, great features

Pros: This motherboard was paired with a Phenom X2 9850 Black edition process or and 4GB of Gskill PC2 9600 ram. It never crashes and runs windows 7 ultimate 64 bit like a charm. I also have raid 1 (Mirrored) hard drives and that works great too. I leave it running 24/7 and only have to reboot for windows updates every couple weeks.

Cons: I'm sure there is something but I don't use that feature.

Other Thoughts: This is a solid board for the money. You really can't beat this price for the power you get with AMD. True I'd love a core I7 but it's only a little faster and 3 times as expensive.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: have not had any issues with this mobo. has performed just as any of the more higher name brands.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: between this, gigabyte and asus I would have to say the bios just isnt quite there, but like the others the more you become familiar the easier it gets. newegg rocks as always
