4 out of 5 eggsdecent little matx

Pros: am3 chipset
neat colors on the board
runs stable overclocked a little
more space for my hyper 212+ than my old msi board

Cons: 2 dims for ram
not am3+
no usb 3.0
only 4 sata
no sata 3

Other Thoughts: I would have loved 2 more sata ports, usb 3, am3+, and to be able to use either of my pci slots past my huge video card cooler, but I got a deal on it and didn't get to choose my board. I can't complain much for what I paid! Runs stable with a phenom 2 x2 955 oc'd to 3.6 and x44 b55. also running 1600 ram. all stable, just missing a few things I wanted. colored ports light up nice under my blue leds too. Kinda neat to see a little color in there. Lots of little red leds near the sata ports, too. didn't notice them til I turned it on for the first time. kinda interesting. Not a bad little board for a deal!

5 out of 5 eggshybrid crossfire info

Pros: Strong mobo. Overclocks without a hitch

Cons: Something I recently found out about hybrid crossfire. It only works with very low end cards similar to the onboard video. If you have a higher end card, ati 4350 or higher for example, hybrid crossfire is useless. It doesn't even recognize it as a second card if you have a higher end card in your pci slot. Tested the theory on 2 high end computers both with the same option in the bios to enable hybrid crossfire. One computer with a 5750 and the other with a 5870. Turns out you can really only crossfire within the same series of cards anyway...even these 2 cards cannot run crossfire.

Other Thoughts: If you do want to enable hybrid, northbridge settings, surround view enabled from auto.

3 out of 5 eggsBiostar won't replace boards to enable ACC (unlocking)

Pros: Nice board, got it as part of a combo, but not from Newegg. Got ver 6.1. - had no issues setting it up with Phenom X2 II 555 processor (but it turned out Antec 430W earthwatts v.2.2 PSU was not sufficient to boot the combo - solved by upgrading to 500W generic PSU.). Liked power and reset buttons on the board - convenient.

Cons: Biostar's website claims that unlocking is possible with the latest bios (dated 4/21/10). I've updated the bios, but the board hangs when I try to enable ACC. The combo processor unlocked on different boards (Gigabyte 790XTA-UD4 and MSI 785GTM-E45). Upon reading a review here about how Biostar performed a hardware upgrade in a similar, emailed them a question about the procedure Friday. The following I received in return yesterday: "Unfortunately, we no longer have any version 6.4 motherboards available for trade." I'm disappointed with Biostar's handling of this matter in my case and will likely sell this motherboard to someone who does not need ACC feature.

Other Thoughts: Because Newegg typically doesn't guarantee a particular version/revision of the product, I would abstain from purchasing this board if you need/want to try unlocking extra cores of your processor, since Biostar will not replace your board with a newer version that supports ACC. However, if your processor has all cores enabled already, it's a nice board.

5 out of 5 eggsUnlocked my second core

Pros: Unlocked my second core on my Sempron.
Works like a charm.
Integrated video is more than enough for Blu-Ray playback.

Cons: 2 memory slots, but even 2GB of ram is more than enough for an HTPC.

Other Thoughts: Too many people spend loads of cash for a super HTPC, and then just use it to watch movies. Save yourself some cash and get this board a Sempron 140 (unlock it if you can) and 2GB of ram.

5 out of 5 eggssolid board and easy set up

Pros: Nice layout, easy setup. Just finished 2nd build with this board and it was my 3rd Biostar. I'm quickly becoming a fan of this company. For such an expensive board they do the little things that makes life easier for the system builder. The jumper connectors are color coded and well marked, the bios is very easy to work with, and they included 3 SATA cables with the clip-on feature that I really like.
The onboard graphics are more than adequate if you just want to build a solid system that a normal user will be happy with.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: PS: BFG 450W 80 Plus Cert
Board: Biostar TA785G3 Micro ATX
CPU: Athlon II 435 X3
Ram: 4GB (2 x 2) ADATA 1600MHZ
HD: Hitachi 1TB SATA - 32 Cache
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD4200 (onboard)

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice for the money

Pros: Solid board... well designed
Lots of USB and case fan ports
Nice to have the onboard graphics and audio

Cons: Don't need the floppy port
No Firewire

Other Thoughts: Very good value. My motherboard in my HP Pavilion died over the weekend. It did not take me long to buy this board, a new quad AMD and some RAM to replace.
The instillation was simple and straightforward.

5 out of 5 eggsVERSION

Pros: Got a 950 on the Unigine benchmark with a X3 Athlon and 5870.

Cons: Received the 1.0 version of the board and cannot unlock the last core.

Other Thoughts: XMP does not automatically load memory settings. It will allow both the on board graphics and pcie graphics to run at the same time if you need more monitors.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent product at a good price.

Pros: Easy, complete re-build took less than an hour before system was running O/S. BIOS System Util. was quick, everything has been running smoothly since.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I was skeptical at first as I've only used ASUS in the past, but this is a decent product and you can't beat the price either. Phenom II X4 CPU runs very smoothly.

5 out of 5 eggsIt Works

Pros: Very nice oc features for a matx board. I am using the drivers from the cd in the box. Everything running smoothly.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you're not a serious gamer, this is a GREAT board to buy. Installed with ZERO problems.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The board has the 785 northbridge and SB710 southbridge, so it should be able to unlock additional AMD processor cores for some processors.

Cons: You need version 6.3 or later of this motherboard in order to have ACC (which will allow AMD core unlocking). There was a hardware modification that started with version 6.3 of the motherboard that was needed to enable ACC.

Other Thoughts: Customer Support at Biostar indicated to me that they would upgrade (hardware modify) my version 6.1 of the TA785G3 to version 6.4 at no charge if I did an RMA and paid for the cost to ship the motherboard to them.
